Nice one! Unble Bob, if you are reading this - most of those who asked you where you are from were not being aggressive or phobic of any kind. They were just surprised to see a non-Chinese in the middle of nowhere. They were even more surprised when you told them you live there. They just don't know how to respond.

This is what real freedom in a peaceful country. Even a white elderly Uncle from the western country can wander around in the remote area alone without have to worry about being robbed, bullied, or facing any discrimination. Instead, he is well respected by the friendly locals. If a Chinese elderly man doing the same thing in those 5 eyes countries, he probably be punched on the face by young local men or ask to go back to Asia.
I have followed your journey for a few months now and I have found your videos very informative and entertaining, I just subscribed because I would love to kee watching.
From your journey to every part of China, I think it will be really interesting to visit China and experience the same experience as you.
Love to hear your stories, Katherine. You are telling story well; I am never tired of these kind stories. After we retied, we'd love to invite you and Wei be our guest to our home too, if you visit our area (could be anywhere, lol). But guess at that time you might be too famous, and being a celebrity probably would make you inapproachable by then!!!
I really love your videos, the people you talk to and the scenery is just wonderful! I feel very warm and happy when I see you and your husband {don`t want to leave him out} in this fog I live in called the u.s.! They have passed a law that states the u.s. government won`t tolerate Americans speaking up against the government but it won`t be permanent while they are arresting Americans for any reason they want. It should sound familiar if you read and know History! Thanks for all that you do and for the smiles, we need you!!!!

Hainan is indeed a tropical paradise in China.

I only know about Wuzhishan (五指山) from one Journey to the West (西遊記), one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.
Also, enjoyed to watch that he is glad to see you in person, and a Western foreigner, too, so that he will not be alone in a peaceful life. ⛰

Loved this vlog! It's so interesting seeing Uncle Bob's life in a part of China that is so different from what I've seen. It looks so beautiful. My husband's family has condos in Sanya, and I'd love to visit in the near future!

I can relate on a small level. Even though we live in Chengdu (Tianfu new district by nanhu park) if I don't leave my neighborhood I can go months without seeing another foreigner.

Mom is gone just a few hours later after I saw your last message . When I woke up this morning I forgot she left . I used to grab my phone just to click your video to go to her room as part of my routine to tell her mom let’s see what’s new with Katherine today even though it’s the same video but I accompany her to watch the same one over and over cause mom has dementia but she has already remembered you because we watched too many times . I used to click your video no matter if it a new one or we just play the same video over and over . From now on I will watch your video alone and thinking about all memories I had with mom while we were watching together . We never know what’s going to happen tomorrow it’s why we must treat each day is the last day and try to live our life the fullest will always cherish every moment we can spend time with our loved ones so we have no regret . Mom loved natural and animals . Mom also told me “ Katherine is a very special young lady who loves to explore China and learn so much about history and culture differences through many people just by listening how fluently her mandarin is to know how much passion she has “ How you feel is how I feel for America and I experience the same kind of difficulties even much longer than you do ever since I was little but that doesn’t change my love for many people who live around me and many of them do care about me and love me dearly specially many of my friends here in US and some of them are white , Latin Asian black as well . they all have been very supportive through out my life until now Even the government here initiate any inappropriate language towards people like me but their selfishness doesn’t change my passion for my community and my friendship with many of my friends here . @@kats_journey_east If that’s the case, then probably ChengDu or WuHan. These are the 2 cities most convenient to travel around China. But finding nearby woods might be a bit more challenging 😅
