  • As many of you already know I’m about to move to rural China this spring - and next time I’m in the US I’ll have to get some advice from my aunt about how to grow veggies and raise ducks because she has it all figured out 🌾🐥as for the part about building your own house… might have to pass on that one 🤣🤣
You may be wondering why this wasn’t posted with my other US vlogs. I got too behind on work and some videos couldn’t get edited in time, so I skipped over some things. Most of the unused US footage from this summer/fall I didn’t save, but some of it was too interesting to delete - like this one - and I finally got time to edit it so here it is at last, a few months late 😜

In regards to the questions about Wei -
First off, there has been some debate in the comments about whether it’s appropriate for people to be asking about Wei at all since this is my “personal life” etc. I just wanted to say, I don’t think by any means it’s inappropriate to ask and I am not offended by any of your questions and comments. I chose to share my life on the internet and this is what comes with it. I was originally going to wait until Wei agrees to share this and put it on all my video accounts simultaneously, which is why I have not responded to most comments about this, but it’s been quite a while… so for now, I am at least putting this out here on RUclips, the one social media account that always has been and always will be 100% mine. As for bilibili and other Chinese platforms, there is nothing I can do for now.
Wei and I are not together anymore. This was not the result of any one sudden thing that happened while I was abroad or once I returned. There have been serious unresolved issues going on for several years and I honestly just ran out of patience. I am almost 28 and at the point where it is time to think about starting a family. As much as it seems that I am always on the go and will never settle down, it has always been my plan to have kids. I don’t think that either of us wouldn’t be a good parent, I just can’t see a future of raising a family together with the issues we have. We do not have a healthy dynamic to raise kids in and it is on me for not having the foresight to properly address our issues earlier. I don’t want anyone to think that I have been miserable all these years or something - for the most part, we were happy together, but our personalities clash in too many ways.
So, we are separated and it is unlikely that this will change. I know this is probably a shock to many of you but that’s how social media is, you only show the best parts of your life, relationships included. We have countless beautiful memories and created a lot of great videos, and I will never regret the almost five years that we were together but the issues in our relationship are beyond what I am willing to accept anymore. Please be respectful when commenting on this and no negativity towards Wei please, hate on me if you wish but leave him out of it. Thank you everyone for understanding.

Sorry to hear about you and Wei. Another reminder of how social media is just a small, curated glimpse of life and not the whole picture. Anyways, life is short, precious, and fleeting. Your Aunt is incredible. I love her homestead way of life. Seems so peaceful and serene-although with a lot of hard work no doubt. Sorry to hear about you and Wei. Sometimes, relationships don’t work out and it is no fault of either parties. People may be at different stages of their own personal growth and that may not be where their partner needs them to be. And never mind the cultural differences as well! I think you are very mature to take the high road. Ignore the haters. Every relationship has its merits. Just because you don’t end up marrying that person, doesn’t mean your relationship wasn’t worthwhile. Five years is a significant amount of time for a young person. I know, my first significant relationship also lasted five years. Neither of us were bad people. We just weren’t the right fit at that stage of our lives. Relationships require work, but they shouldn’t require constant work-if that makes sense. Everything always work out in the end. You are a special lady Katherine. Keep making your videos. They are enjoyed by many I assure you.

Hello Kathy, I love this video so much, cuz it reflects some life style of my family (natural food, less social, have fun with animals). BTW, I have several spare land in a small village, along side with a small river. I'd rather build a hose like this (2:59), would you like to share the blueprint drawing of the house, i'd be very appreciated for that! (I always dream to build my own house, seem this may be a starting point, I'd be very glad if you can help).

Your aunt's farm is beautiful. But she doesn't take care of that whole farm herself, does she? I would think she must have help. There are too many chores needed to keep all those structures and yard tidy.

She takes care of it all herself as far as I know , she’s a busy lady

I had the similar thought. But take all these by herself is respectful. And, it really well managed, clean and healthy, everywhere and everyone, supper!

Glad to see you're still at it, haven't been following lately.
Goodonya for doing some "homesteading" here, that's always been a think I've wanted to try with my family here, but finding work is the challenge.
Relationships, sorry to hear, it's difficult to cross the cultural bridge, probably half the people I know didn't last after marriage, but that's the same ration back in the states, so?
