    im at 15k miles on my 2020 ranger... i put this on at 4k miles luckily. it has collected all kinds of funk... in the summer months, it doesnt collect a huge amount but still enough to be glad it doesn't go in the motor.. in the winter months it collects a whole lot more because of condensation so keep an eye on that when driving it a lot in the winter. it'll fill up twice as much and as quick if not 3 times as fast... thanks for the product... definitely makes me feel better it's on my truck!

    Alright, just completed this install over the weekend. The hardest part for me was getting the wheel well clips off! I had to pretty much break every one of them. Once you disconnect the wire and are able to disconnect the coolant hose clips you'll just barely be able to see the orange valve. On the 2021 Ranger, the other end of the pvc hose is actually up top on the side of the engine block. This took me awhile to figure out. Not sure what changed but the pvc hose is much longer in the 2021's than I've seen on these install videos. I was able to cut the hose that exits the catch can and goes back into the engine. Instead of re-mounting the coolant hose into the original clips, i used the zip ties and looped through the hole where the coolant hose clip inserted and tied together the pvc hose to the coolant hose. This is the only way to keep the pvc hose from rubbing against a sharp screw that I've heard can put holes in the hose if it's mounted against it. Hope this helps someone!

      @Andrew, my can filled up max, (3oz) within 100-150 miles of driving, over a 2 week span... How is yours doing? I'm thinking about switching to a different brand, with a 12oz can.

      I know which screw you are talking about, I just put flex seal tape on the hose and on the that screw and zip tied them as far as part as possible. Have you noticed the red/orange port wobbles a bit? When trying to install my can it went from facing right and swiveled all the way around and faced left. I’m wondered if mine is busted or if that’s normal. On top of swiveling left and right it wobbles a bit on its axis. Not sure if that’s normal either. I’ve been driving with the catch can for a year now and haven’t had any problems or leaks, just an awful smell that comes into my cabin every now and then.

      @Jay's 5G Ranger Garage that seems like it's filling up way too fast?! I've been emptying mine every 1000 miles and it seems like it's 3/4ths full at that point.

    • @Andrew-pe8xg
      @Andrew-pe8xg 2 года назад

      @Nico Aguilar I tried to put some tape on it but I couldn't get my hand in there to wrap it on.. I haven't experienced anything else you described.. the can seems to be holding up just fine. I am worried that the o ring is gonna go from having to empty the can so often (every 1000 miles).

    • @nicoaguilar13
      @nicoaguilar13 2 года назад

      @@Andrew-pe8xg yea my can o-ring is a bit slippery and not as tight as before... I only have to empty my van every 1500 miles, but sometimes I check it every 500. Depends... lots of highway miles won’t creat a lot of blow by but lots of city driving or pushing it hard will do that quickly. Depends on how heavy your foot is

    I commented 1 year ago here on the catch can. Since having it for 25k miles i have ran into a huge issue.. the heat from the motor and everything will make the hoses crack bad. To the point where the hoses collapse on itself and become flat and leaks all the juice it collects out of the hoses and onto the motor. Keep an eye out for it! Ive been thinking about buying their heat shield stuff to go around the hoses but then you wont be able to see when theyre cracked! Luckily their lifetime warranty kicked in and they sent replacement hoses. The worst part of the cracking is where you cant see!
    Plus they said clean the bronze filter yearly

    I just installed this on my truck today. The little asian woman and her tiny hands made this look easy. But if you have large hands your gonna have a bad time. XL gloves are tight on me. It took me a half an hour to figure out how to contort my massive meat mittens in there to get the hose connections off. My right hand is covered in cuts and scrapes but I got it. I'll never do another one though. The catch can is very well made and works great.

    If it helps anyone, I put a 3/8 male brass ball valve on the bottom of mine which makes emptying it a breeze. I have about 3" of clearance below the valve which is enough.

    • @benbenjamin2385
      @benbenjamin2385 4 года назад +1

      Exactly, a lower drain. The o ring on the can will wear out causing a leak & the lower ball valve would be the bestm

    Definitely the hardest install. Even had it up on a lift at my dealership which I work at and we couldn't get our hands in there. Probably going to research to see if there is a different pcv hose to use.

    I don’t see how it’s possible to remove the hose and connect the 2 provided hoses. You can barely see one and you can’t get more than 2 fingers on the connectors. Has anyone actually accomplished this? Seems to me the engine has to come out to get at the factory hoses.

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 года назад +1

      Although they are tough to get to the hoses should come out pretty easily. Definitely recommend going through the wheel well for the best access.

    So do you have to remove the radiator shields to empty it?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 года назад +1

      There is a small amount of room between the battery and the shroud to be able to remove the bottom to drain the can. Although some people may find it more convenient to remove the shield to do this. Unfortunately due to space restraints this was still the mode accessible location.

      Tire has to come off. There is NOT enough room to move and get to the lines you have to remove with the tire on.Getting the stuff done in the the wheel well is the hardest part about the kit.

      @@mishimoto you guys appear to be a good business, but the ranger catch can instructions you provide do not show the best hose routing & lack the can capacity to make the kit viable ... The small size requires a higher frequency of opening the cab which will compromise the oring ... Spare oring? How about a higher prices kit that has a can twice the capacity, hose routing that will not interfere with other wires or hoses & OEM style fittings on both ends.
      I'm saying the kit is under engineered & can be figured out ... I paid two hundred dollars for a product that will create more problems due it not being designed properly.
