I was a fan of 30STM up until This is War. After that, it all just went downhill so fast. I saw them at Pinkpop Festival, and I was so shocked by how they acted. It wasn't a show, they used their time on stage to "refine" their set for the bigger festivals, like we were there to see them soundcheck. Long silent pauses in between songs, talking into microphones that where connected to their ear pieces so we couldn't hear them. It was so weird, and frankly, so disrespectful to not treat that crowd like they were fans of theirs. Just some people standing by while they were figuring out how to lay out their set.
My uncle also worked backstage and told me about how Jared acted there. He was rude, disrespectful, treated everyone around him with his nose in the air, everything around him disgusted him.
Later, I went to a "concert" (inside venue, not many people there, it was embarrassing) of them after Up in the Air came out with my then best friend because she never had seen them live. All we said to each other the whole evening was: my god, this is weird. Why are they dressed like that? WHERE THE FUCK IS TOMO? This isn't a band anymore, this is a duo. And a very fucking weird duo at that. They should just retire and go back to their weird cult. And then push that island far into to the ocean so we never have to see them again.

Thirty Seconds To Mars have one of the greatest debut albums of all time. 30 Seconds To Mars was a vanity project from Jared that somehow managed to do well because that fucking Emo thing was in trend at the time.

The thing with Maneskin is, they are a very talented young band who write great lyrics in their native language (Italian) and can write interesting music - look the album they were popularising during Eurovision, Teatro d'ira - hard rock, metal in some places. But then, they became uber famous and came to the US. Apparently they don't have someone to tell them that they don't need to listen to everything American music industry tells them, because Rush sounds so manufactured for the most parts, like a group of writers gathered and decided to write the most generic "young person rock". Also, English is not their first language and it shows in the lyrics - they are a looot mor simplistic compared to the Italian ones. The band themselves have said that they have written most of the songs while in LA and a look at the track list reveals that the only songs they have written alone are the three Italian ones, which for me are the best out of the album.

It really breaks my heart to see how far Thirty Seconds To Mars have fallen. The new album won’t quite top my WOTY list (because I have heard Ubiquitous by POM and The Album by The Jonas Brothers and I think both are worse), but unlike America where I didn’t hate that album anywhere near as much as everyone else and can defend a few songs on it (I still think it’s bad though), this album I cannot defend in the least bit. Avalanche is the only song that left any kind of positive impact on me (it’s a good song imo, but not a great one), and the rest is just abhorrently bad garbage. The switch over to Pop has been a disaster from start to finish and while I hope they return to what made them good in the 2000s, at this point I don’t see it happening. Jared Leto is too far up his own tushy to make anything less than nonsensical, awful, and boring music. I say this as a genuine fan of the band’s old work, Thirty Seconds To Mars…get better…or go away forever.

I remember attending a 30STM concert years ago and Jared openly admitted in the set to forgetting how to play and sing the majority of his bands earlier works. He couldn't remember Oblivion when the audience requested it lol.
30 STM is a band that's heavily fallen from grace. They've completely forgotten what they were supposed to be about and the magic that made their earlier albums work well is now a shell of its former self. It would be better now for them to either fully admit they are now an experimental-pop act at best or to just hang it up so not to further disdain their earlier music.
With that said, I think it would be cool to see you do a video about their crash and burn process Luke. I think a lot of what has happened with Jared and crew needs to be showcased and highlighted. If the band doesn't like it, well who cares cause that video would rack up views for sure.

As a Eurovision fan and someone who found Måneskin through Eurovision, I get a lot of the criticism for Rush (even if there are some parts of it I quite like). One thing that drew me to them during Eurovision (that I didn’t realize until I listened through their whole discography) was that they kept their typical style for Eurovision. Eurovision songs can have a reputation for being the most polished/widely accepted version of an artist in order to generate interest, but Maneskins song Zitti E Buoni still fit in with the rest of their discography at the time (up until Teatro Dira V1). Rush did feel like it was more of an attempt to spread their sound to a wider audience, which makes sense given their rise to popularity, but was a noticeable shift from some of their past stuff. I’m still very excited for future releases.

I will agree with you on Maneskin, there's maybe one or two songs on that album that I like, but the rest of the tracks and album as a whole is rather dull and forgetful. As for 30STM I loved their very early stuff - that's until Jared Leto started with his antics including the used condoms on the movie set, the bizarre camp in Croatia(I think) where everyone had to dress up like a Jonestown cult, and while I nearly went to one of their concerts which luckily didn't happen I've heard Jared is a complete knob at live shows interacting with fans. And yeah the last few albums are sh*t.

Being honest, I thought “Stuck” was ok and at least them going back to the 2013 sound (definitely not my favorite but better than anything since) and yeah the full album is just a big blob of bleh. It’s really disappointing how a band that used to be one of my favorites is decaying into a Maroon 5-like shell of themselves. I’ll still at least recommend their first two albums to people. Really hate how they barely acknowledge their debut outside obligatory anniversary posts, that album deserves much more attention.
