C'mon, be fair. It wasn't guitar genius material but he held his own playing Blues Scale. Give the man credit. I say he can play.
It's just become a hype to claim that Steven Seagal is a retard in everything he does. And that's complete bullshit. Yes, his movies suck, and yes, he isn't a good martial artist and yes, he looks stupid handling a firearm. But that doesn't mean he's entirely incompetent and he's certainly more skilled than most Gen-Z-ombies that have made it a habit of mocking him.

I've seen some videos of him playing not so good not sure if they were doctored to pick on him . His playing here is pretty good .
@@ericbutler6881 Some of those videos are doctored. He's become a meme and also the target of many haters, for some reasons that I can't understand. So there are for sure many people who'd do anything to put him in a bad light. He's no Gary Moore but he can definitely play decently.
His guitar playing is equally as watchable as his movies

I realize it’s popular to knock Seagal and his very big ego, and I read through the comments and laugh at the hilarity like everyone but, honestly, he has a really soulful and subtle finesse on that solo here… Can he play isn’t really the question… that he can play well is the point.

The song sounds good. Though I'm not sure if it's because of Seagal's guitar playing or just blues being so pleasant to listen to. In any case, unlike his martial arts credentials, he didn't fake his playing at least.

Hey, the guy can strum a guitar, he’s pretty much in pocket and didn’t hear any bum notes. It was quite good overall.
He looks very awkward sitting down though, not sure what it is, maybe his “hairline”, or expecting him to get up and battle 30 members of the audience with his slap style of aikido. 😉😇😂 maybe he can play slap bass like a pro!!

Agreed 100%; be nice. He's just getting down and loving the blues, having a ton of fun and doing nobody any harm. I've heard many worse players than Steven Seagal. He can hold his own on the guitar and hold his head up over this performance. Music is about feeling, mood and positive vibes; it's not a competition and it's cool that he plays guitar. Best of luck to him.

I'm sure he has had some lessons, his thumb picking is kinda bizarre though.... I'm still shocked Tommy Lee Jones was in Under Siege, this was the same guy that starred in the Fugitive with Harrison Ford and was amazing...

He can play but the issue people have is that he thinks he is much better than he is. I’ve seen interviews where he calls himself a very serious player among other things. A lil humility and he wouldn’t get so much hate
Well being serious doesn't mean he's good. He can be serious learning guitar, but this probably as good as he can get. The guy at least can play for sure, it's probably in his mind that in this level is enough for him to be called skillful.
I have to say, he's a lot better than I thought he would be. I'm like you, I don't think I could use my thumb and play as good as he is, thumbs are for holding a pick or the neck! 😂 Even the other guitarist is using his thumb. Seagal rig sounds nice too.
But Dave, would you take Aikido lessons from him?

The playing isn't anything special or advanced but, yes, it's okay. The thing that jumps out at me is his voice. It seems to change a lot based on what he's doing. What happened to the Italian? "Where's Vinnie? His accent and tonality need an anchor!

His 1% effort with the chair he also had to put in 1% effort w/ his left hand, using his thumb to minimize effort. Steven Segal is one of the few people that can put less than 1.1% into something and get paid, I think he gets paid anyway. Hey don't get me wrong, he looks like he is having a blast in his life, so WhoTF am I to say anything?? He is the Poorer mans David Hasslehoff.

Didn't look like he was singing. I had thyroid cancer and my vocal chords are held together with staples. I saw no adam's apple vibrating for the vibratto. It was out of time and looked like he was lip syncing BIGTIME. He is a fraud liar. Fool me once shame on you but fool me twice?
