- Here is how I did the Acura TL Type S Brembo conversion on my FA5.
Parts purchased:
2007-2008 Acura TL Type S Calipers + Bolts
PowerStop 2007 - 2008 Acura TL Type S rotors + pads
5mm Spacer (for behind rotor)
StopTech Stainless Steel brake lines
VHT red + black caliper paint
15mm spacers for my wheels to clear the brakes.
Clean ride, I'm jealous. Good video too, man!
You make me miss my FA5 Si so bad bro
Came out 🔥
Nice job super like💪👍🙏🤝💯🔥
I was told we can use genesis brembos w Nissan rogue third row seats rotors. Might go that route so I don't have to drill. Love the video man they look amazing!
I heard that as well! I was going to try it but I couldn’t find any genesis calipers.
What year genesis brembos?
@@npvfa5 Shit, I saw a set locally not long ago. I slept on them because I'd already got these Type-s Brembo's w/ EBC redstuff pads. But changed my mind to go w/ the RL caliper/350Z Brembo pkg 12.8" rotors w/ Fast-Brakes brackets so I don't need to modify the spindles.
I'm REALLY hoping the clear the 17" +35 Avid1's I've got on 'er, but I don't think they are going to, the stock caliper looks to be around 1/2"+- from the barrel.
How do you like the braking now vs before?
just get another set of knuckles they are cheap and you can drill those or keep as spare.
Braking feels way better, definitely an improvement and I bet if you put some real heat into them the difference will be even more noticeable. If you want to test whether the wheels will clear the caliper, measure the distance between the wheel spoke and the rotor. You need about 2.25 inches for the Brembo calipers.
Bro thank you
Muito top parabéns 👏
Subbed😊
Great Video Bro im going follow along with this when i start my install
🤞
That 15mm spacer required ?
wheel specs ?
How is it 4 Months in?
I'm going try a 17 8.5 +40 , think i will be good?
The spacer requirement and wheel specs is completely dependent on the shape/design of the wheel. 17 x 8.5 + 40 will work on some wheels, and not on others.
Can u provide the link where u got the rotors?
www.summitracing.com/parts/PWR-K3029
Hows it been with the 5mm? Ive seen people say from 5 to 7mm
5 works good. It should work fine with anything between 5 to 7mm
Man i really need the music at 23:40!
what coilovers do u have?
I was running maxpeedingrods in this video. I currently have skunk2 pro c coilovers.
what size are your wheels to clear the brembos ?
18x8.5 +35 with a 15mm spacer.
You need a +22 offset, or a + 38 (depending on the spoke of your wheel)
Question. Instead of buying Aerogenics overly priced spacers, which one did you buy? Thank you in advance!!
5mm spacers from Amazon
Yea, I saw that you recommended 6.5mm spacers. How’s yours holding up with the pads not being centered. I really appreciate the video!!
Running 17x9 +35 offset RPF1’s also running 245 40 for tires. I feel like I’m gonna get a ton of rubbing if I add a 15-20 mil spacer. I may just run 235 or 225 for tires 🫠 tough call for me I need the traction
Spindle setup is Similar to 10th gen? Plan to install tl calipers on 10th gen. Not much content for 10th gen
The research I did a while back lead me to believe they are similar. I think the process is the same for 8-10th gens.
@@npvfa5 lovely... whats ur IG. Lemme share calipers I'm going with.
Looking good my brother.
Just wondering didn't you need aerogenics 5mm hub centric shim for the TL 310mm rotors to set ?
Thanks
It could be a nice to have if you want to keep things hubcentric. But in my case it would’ve been a waste of money because I need to run a wheel spacer anyways. The 15mm spacer I am using has its own “hubcentric lip” for the wheels. Also one thing you have to keep in mind is that when you run the aerogenics spacer you need to get your rotors machined to the new bore size.
@@npvfa5 i see. Does the TL Type s rotor bore match the 8th gen civic ?. Since the aeeogenics spacers are expensive i might not need them if the goal is just to keep the rotor centered in the calipers. Normal 5mm hub centric spacers will do the job.
Where did you end up getting the calipers bro?
Auto Zone sells them, and just about any auto parts store.
$79 at oriley
Are the brake lines for 8th gen or tl type s ??
8th gen civic si brake lines
@@npvfa5 Can I reuse my old lines?
what did this run you bro?
You’re looking at about $700 for everything.
Well fuck that I don’t wanna drill out my spindles and stack spacers behind my rotors 😂
Should of got the caliper machine to avoid all this extra crap
This is the budget way to do it. Getting it machined is the easy way to do it, but also the expensive way. I’m okay with having my spindles drilled to a larger size and a spacer behind the rotor. At the end of the day the brakes will perform exactly the same.
@@npvfa5 budget LMAO I don’t think I wanna be budget on my safely. Especially something that’s gonna stop your car
22:35 You’re going to want that to get pushed in further. Needs to be flush.
25:15 ABS module is closest to the passenger side, not furthest? Is that what you meant? ABS is right above that wheel
Yup you are correct. I realized later that the pin had to go in a little further, and the ABS module is closest to the passenger side… not sure why I said the opposite lol.
@@npvfa5 Yeah, I found out the hardest ahah. Was on the highway and mf popped out and one of the pads started sliding 🤣
Bro, the ABS actuator is on the right side of the car.
Correct. I was thinking of the master cylinder lol. Everything still works perfectly fine.
They make 3mm spacers, run two on each side and it's only .5mm off
Dude, the paint will just scrape off against the brake pads 💀
Brake pads don't touch the insides of the slots or drilled areas.
Ah, I guess it depends on the type of rotor@@npvfa5
