  • This video is for 92-00 Honda Civic and 94-01 Acura Integra that have gone 5x114 with the 98+ Integra Type R, DC2R or the Civic Type R, EK9 front brakes, knuckle and hubs.
    You have converted your 4X100 to 5X114 using DC2R or EK9 CTR knuckles, and you still want bigger brakes but don't want to spend lots of$$$$$$ on the aftermarket, this video is for you!!
    Laying out the options for going bigger brakes using OEM calipers and rotors
    Comparison Charts at:
    2:31 Stock Civic vs DC2R Setup
    7:08 DC2R vs 9th Gen Si, TSX, TL-S Setup
    11:41 DC2R vs Genesis/Rogue Setup
    I lay out the options of what other OEM upgrades you can do increase braking performance.
    - Stock Civic Calipers and Rotors, 51mm Piston, 242x21mm Rotors
    - DC2R Calipers and Rotors, 57mm Piston, 282x23mm Rotors
    - 9th Gen Si Calipers and Rotors, 57mm Piston, 300x25mm Rotors
    - TSX Calipers and Rotors, 57mm Piston, 300X28mm Rotors
    - TL-S Brembo Caliper and Rotors, 38/42mm Pistons, 310x25mm Rotors
    - Genesis Brembo Calipers and Nissan Rogue 3rd Row Seat Rotors, 42/42mm Pistons, 320x28mm Rotors
    Just to be clear the parts you need are the front Brembo calipers from a 2010 - 2016 Hyundai Genesis with Track Pack and the front rotors from a 2014 - 2017 Nissan Rogue with 3rd row seating.

    I really enjoyed watching this video. I have been looking around the internet and I think there might be an even better OEM BBK Option. I have seen the Honda Odyssey community use a similar Genesis Brembo setup using a MDX rotor. So it might be possible to use the 07-13 MDX Caliper with the Nissan rotor. I think this would result in a powerful braking setup without the need for large/wide aftermarket wheels OR fancy adapters.

    Thank you for all your work puting this info together and showing everything. Great stuff!
    I have a doubt that I think you can easly clarify: I have a 8th gen Si, and I am considering changing only the rotor to the TSX/Accord one, 300mm 28mm thick, as I dont need more braking power, but just a bit of thermal headroom. Will those fit the calipers straight in? Or will I need to mod them somehow? Main concern is if the calipers have enough clearence for the extra 3mm.
    Thanks in advance mate. Hope to see more videos in your channel :)

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  2 года назад +1

      Hi Paulo, thanks for visiting the channel and subscribing, I would recommend also going to the TSX calipers with the TSX rotors.
      Technically speaking with some caliper bracket clearancing and used brake pads, you could probably get the TSX rotors to fit with 8th gen Si Calipers. My concern is that the caliper bracket doesnt have enough room for the increased rotor thickness of the TSX.
      For the cost of the calipers its not really worth this hassle.

    Any thoughts on using 08+ crv calipers (dual piston) and matching rotors?

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  8 месяцев назад +1

      Dual piston calipers will be an upgrade over their single piston counterparts. Looking at the caliper shows that the mounting bolts are 14mm which means you will need to drill the holes on your knuckles to fit. The rotor is 296mm diameter and 28mm thick which is similar diameter (300mm) as the 8th, 9th Gen Si and TSX, but thicker. So the rotor will have more heat capacity than those previously mentioned rotors. I have not tried to use this combination before so I cannot comment on fitment.

    I have a 1995 civic EX coupe 1.6L SOHC VTEC, I bought CRV calipers which I believe it is the same as a ITR caliper , 280mm mini rotors, and TSX pads. I would appreciate your help please and thank you.

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  Год назад +2

      If you are leaving the rears as drums then there’s no need to change the proportioning valve. As for the MC and booster, it is more of a personal preference, going to a bigger MC will decrease the amount of line pressure for the same pedal force input and reduce the amount of pedal travel. If you choose to use the existing MC the pedal travel will be longer with the ITR calipers. If you go to a bigger MC (7/8”, 15/16” or 1”) there will be less pedal travel. Bigger booster will give you more vacuum assist, effectively reducing the amount of pedal force you need to generate the same line pressure. Do you prefer a heavier or lighter brake pedal? Do you prefer more of less pedal travel?

      Rotor height is 56.7mm, if you bolt it on then the rotor won’t be cantered in the callipers. This parameter in conjunction with the rotor thickness and the hub mount thickness also has to place the rotor in the center of the calliper to get everything to bolt up

    Do you have a link to the type r rotors and pads you’re using?

      Hey John,
      For pads I used GLOC R12, which I personally find to be quite capable at the track and still be able to drive the car home on the streets, for more aggressive compound try the G16.

      For my DC2R setup, I just use Centric Rotors from Rock Auto, they are pretty cheap so replace them whenever you change pads, the part number is 120.40026.

      @@formuladelta4929 will those rotors also work for the rear?

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  3 года назад

      @@johnlegg6837 I actually find the DC2R rear brakes to be more than what I need. Currently using GLOC R10 rear pads and they are a bit too aggressive for me. Should have gone with the GLOC R8 rear pads instead. If you are still 4x100 in the rear then there is the optional disks conversion that came on the EM1 Civic Si (US) or Civic SIR (Canada). For 5x114 you can go with the DC2R or EK9 Rear Disks. I use DC2R rear disks, Centric 120.40042. Rock auto link below

    What brake booster did you use?

    What rotor would fit with the rear Brembos of a genesis looking to do this on my rsx base model

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  9 месяцев назад

      just clarifying the question here, are you trying to put the rear Brembo Calipers of a Genesis on the front of your RSX? or on the rear of your RSX?

    • @saulvazquez8882
      @saulvazquez8882 9 месяцев назад

      Front

    • @formuladelta4929
      @formuladelta4929  9 месяцев назад

      It’s not a direct bolt on for the rear Genesis calipers, as the bolt hole spacing doesn’t match up to the RSX upright. You would have to get some kind of custom adapters made to get them to fit. So it can be made to fit around a variety of rotors

      The rear Brembo genesis calipers bolt on with no modification to the front of my RSX . Only thing is I can’t find the right rotors . I’ve tried the Nissan rogue sv and they are too thick

      @formuladelta4929  9 месяцев назад

      Interesting, never tried to find a rotor that fits the rear Genesis calipers, I would imagine you will need smaller diameter and different offset

    dc2 itr brake calipers + mini cooper S slotted rotors + acura tsx 2008 brake pads, would probably cost you less than $300 both sides.

      The brackets need to be milled to fit or else rotor rubs bracket. Ask me how I know

    For guys who want type R performance and want to stick with 4x100 without upgrading to 5lug,
    Run 2002-2007 Mini cooper base model rotors (4x100 280mm)
    Integra Type R calipers and brackets
    TSX pads
