I will offer a syllogism: Grapes ripen in the Northern Hemisphere in late summer/ early fall. Israel is in the Northern Hemisphere. Grape juice without a preservative will become wine in less than 14 days. Winemakers of the biblical era had no preservatives to keep grape juice from fermenting. The Last Supper was in April. Therefore: Jesus the Christ, the True Vine, was indeed a wine drinker- alcohol was what kept the beverage stable enough to prevent spoilage.
Nice try, but obviously Jesus synthesized special non alcoholic wine from water as He did in John 2 ;) Unfortunately, many Christians' objection to all alcohol consumption is not based in scripture or logic. While this may convince some people, I fear that many will find a way to excuse it away - because since scripture doesn't explicitly state that the wine contained ethanol, who's to say that isn't what happened? And since we can't say definitively that this isn't what happened, then why not say definitively that it is what happened, because all events in scripture must be interpreted through the higher assumption that my conviction - all consumption of alcohol is wrong - is true, rather than forming my convictions based off of a straightforward interpretation of scripture? This is why the concept of Christian liberty is so important; but of course, even that has its complications. Some people view the drinking of alcohol as, in principle, the same as eating food sacrificed to idols, and so the concept of Christian liberty applies. But some view it as being as cut and dried as something like cold blooded murder or adultery, so they aren't willing to extend the principles of Christian liberty to those who practice it. All we can do is try our best to follow scripture as we understand it, and help others to do the same, and ask for forgiveness when we get it wrong; bearing with those whose weak faith causes them to condemn others for doing things which God has not condemned; knowing that, despite our best efforts, we might have some deeply held convictions of our own that are not completely based in scripture. Love covers a multitude of sins. Personally, I don't drink alcohol. I've had problems with it in the past, and as a young person in America, I feel it sends a bad message; since so few of my peers drink responsibly, it could give the impression that I am down with drunkenness. I would recommend that those who do not currently drink, refrain from taking it up; this seems wise to me. When my Christian friends drink, it makes me very uncomfortable; because of my past experiences, and my own preferences for consuming alcohol, it is hard to separate in my mind responsible consumption from unbridled drunkenness and partying. But I have Christian friends who drink. Some of them do so irresponsibly - which further strengthens my knee-jerk reaction that alcohol should be avoided at all costs, that the idea that someone can exercise self control and drink in moderation is a myth, that nothing good can come from it. But some of them do it responsibly; I know from personal experience that some people genuinely have no desire to get drunk, even though they enjoy a drink on occasion. I have known some for many years who have, in the entire time that I've known them, been "drinkers", but never drunkards. To the pure all things are pure. For some it has even been a means of maintaining a relationship with the lost; getting a beer with an old friend every now allows them to stay in contact. Staying in contact increases the opportunity to witness; to show how God is working in their life. And of course, the most reasonable reading of scripture is that alcohol abuse, not alcohol itself, is sinful, and that Jesus, His disciples, and many Christians over the years drank wine with alcohol. Of course, at the time the Scriptures were written, there was no word for ethanol, or understanding that this was the chemical which caused intoxication; meaning, if one really wishes to, they can perform all kinds of mental gymnastics and make all kinds of assumptions that aren't explicitly stated in scripture, to come to the conclusion that Jesus never consumed alcohol; but it's hardly the most reasonable reading of scripture. And that is what I wish for the people on here that are convinced that all consumption of alcohol is wrong. Stop declaring unclean what God has declared clean. This truly is an issue of food sacrificed to idols; and it is good and righteous to abstain from something that will cause you to struggle - but not good and righteous to then declare that same thing off limits for those who don't share your conviction, and to judge those who practice it. At the same time, those who do practice drinking should be gracious of those whom it causes to struggle; all things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial. Cracking open a cold one with the boys isn't a problem if your conscience doesn't convict you; but if one of those boys is very uncomfortable with alcohol, and has communicated that fact to you, maybe save it for another time.
@@Anonymous-so1ho I appreciated reading your reply; quite refreshing. I have my own vineyard, and have hundreds of gallons of wine at my disposal. Rather than choosing to imbibe until I vomit, I sip one serving a day and thank the Lord for such a wonderful, stable beverage. Should I say something offensive, or act out in an ungodly manner that is consequent to my sin and my unclean nature-- not the beverage. Thanks again for the exchange.
But you don't understand. HE PERFORMED A MIRACLE. He can turn water into FRESH RIPENED GRAPE JUICE no matter what time of year because he is God. Now that is amazing. That is something to celebrate. It also tasted far better.
The grape harvest goes through July. With no refrigeration in biblical times and the last supper being in April I can assure you that the wine was fermented.
But Jesus performed a miracle. A fresh harvest was a great thing and to have fresh grape juice was something to celebrate. Jesus could have changed the water into the "fresh grape harvest" juice because why wouldn't he?

I agree wholeheartedly, I am a born again Christian/ AND I AM STRUGGLING BADLY!!! ANY ALCOHOL IS A POISONOUS SUBSTANCE TO OUR BODY!!!!! The bible tells us that: our bodies are the temple of GOD!!!! I DO NOT CONDONE JESUS turning water into wine/ the bible says: that at the wedding the people were well drunk / then JESUS turns water into more wine!!!!! JESUS was a perfect human/ well I’m sorry BUT/ a perfect human would NOT condone the drinking of ANYTHING that would be poisonous to our bodies. Oh so then it must be ok to have a few cigarettes or cigars in moderation also!!!!!! There’s quite a few things I have issues with that are in the bible/ especially in the Old Testament. AND I AM A TRUE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!!!!! So you can imagine my pain and outrage over this!>>!!!! Some say/ oh well the alcoholic content wouldn’t of been the same back then. Aaah well/ read how Noah and others in the bible became drunk also!!!!! How can JESUS condone booze is beyond anything rational!!!!!! If there’s going to be wine at the marriage supper of the lamb/ then even as a born again Christian/ I will NOT be attending. I will not under any circumstances drink / nor sit with anyone that’s putting poison into their bodies. I’m very firm on this too.
You may be right but this still does not change the fact that even Jesus Himself drank wine. Luke 7:33-34 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners!’
Tom Fisher in dictionary 55yrs ago wine was defined as fermented AND NON fermented. why would they take that out of the dictionary now? JESUS was SINLESS. he hung around drunkards and the lije to CHANGE Them NOT to keep thetm in their sin.
I have searched the Internet for anyone who can see and hear the Lord and your sentence is truth ! It is Jesus' greatest prophecy and he reveals his true purpose in this prophecy !
Which wine? Because it says don't drink the wine when it is red (alcoholic), and the new wine comes from the presses. Alcohol is the wine of Sodom (Deut. 32) as opposed to the pure blood of the grape which represents the blood of Jesus. @@fishersofmen4727

Having a degree in Viticulture and Enology, I love hearing people make ridiculous explanations about how grape juice was preserved year round 2000 years ago.
@@JohnnyYuma405 The ancients practiced the following ways of preserving grape juice. They would filter the juice through strainers and remove the protein (albumen); this would leave no yeast for fermentation. Putting fresh juice in jars and sealing it with pitch, placing the jars in cool pools of water, and keeping the temperature at a certain degree so the yeast would not multiply. Placing fresh juice in jars and burning sulfur dioxide over the jars. Dried raisins, (boiled for juice). Boiling fresh juice down into a syrup called dibs; later they would dilute it with water and drink it as a beverage.
@@joemonroe9456 Everything you said is just bullshit, grasping at various ways to explain it away. It might work with know-nothings but not with me, someone who has a degree in the chemistry of fermenting wine. What kinds of strainers are you going to use to strain out the yeast? Cloth?
@@JohnnyYuma405 It can also be boiled. I believe the straining was also to remove the chunks of grape which had the yeast attached. Kinda like a mask which removes droplets which have smaller viruses attached. In any case, boiling will kill the yeast, and incidentally will also cause alcohol to evaporate.
9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, "Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now." If you know here where it says, most people serve the good wine first, and then after people have drunk freely, the inferior wine.... anyone who has had a little bit too much wine and gotten a little bit tipsy or drunk can tell you that the reason this was done was because after you have become a little bit tipsy and drunk you can no longer tell the difference between the good wine and the bad wine so it is safe to say the wine was extremely alcoholic..... it is most likely the same wine that Noah drunk in the Old Testament after the flood had subsided and his son's found him so drunk that he was passed out in a cave..... look that one up: Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded a to plant a vineyard. 21When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent.... Genis 9. 18-26 approximately. And we can safely stay that Middle Eastern wine is very strong and it is still made in a very similar old fashioned way.... and this would be the same wine Jesus used at The Last Supper when he said to his disciples take this all of you and drink of it, for is the Chalice of my Blood, shed for you and for the many, and for the remission of sins..... the new Covenant sealed in my Blood..... Now, I am not advocating for getting drunk or drunken behaviour, but this is just to point out that the wine was not just grape juice, but alcoholic and alcoholic enough to get one drunk.....
The best wine is the freshest, not fermented. Do you know how drunk you have to be to not know what something tastes like? When Christ calls us to be sober, it is not just in the spiritual sense. Anyone who is given to alcohol knows, your inhibitions, judgement, and senses go out the window. Whenever Jesus speaks of wine concerning His blood, it is 'new' wine.
@dark-sayings You actually don't need to be that drunk at all, for your taste to be inhibited. This can start happening after the first few glasses, and I've been there and done that myself, particularly in my clubbing days before I gave up a life of sin. When Jesus refers to new wine 🍷 He is not speaking about physical new wine, but rather talking about His (the) New Covenant He is bringing about by His [New] Sacrifice, Death and Resurrection is bringing about. He is the New Lamb of God, as He is referred to by John the Baptist in scripture(as opposed to the old lamb sacrificed in Egypt that freed the Hebrews from Pharaoh and slavery). He frees us from Slavery to sin, death, and Satan. The New Covenant also refers to His New Law of Love that He brings about by His Passion, Death and Resurrection as opposed to the Old Covenant, the old Jewish Laws and Sacrificial animal practices which were a mere typology and preparation for His New Passover Sacrifice which He brought about in the Upper Room which transformed the old Passover/Covenant into the New (which made Present His Sacrifice, Death and Resurrection He would undergo on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, (including a New Priesthood being the Apostles and their descendants, not by a bloodline like the Levites, but by the guidance of the Holy Spirit as in Acts 1. 23-27 (where Matthias was given to take over the office of Judas Iscariot who died by his own hand due to despairing rather than turning to God's Mercy), which would have also involved the laying on of hands, not specifically mentioned here , but in other parts of the Acts). So it has nothing to do with physical new wine. But the New Covenant and New Law that He was bringing about. Also as someone who worked with, for a brief times in my teens, a Serbian family Who used to make wine the old-fashioned way by crushing grapes under your feet, the longer you let the wine ferment in barrels kept in a dark cool place, the better it tasted. If you got impatient and went to try and have some of this wine to early, it tasted horrible. That's why even to this day, the older the wine, and the longer it has been allowed to mature, the more expensive it is, and the smoother and the better the flavor..... Wine gets better with age! Hopefully, like you and me 🤣 😂 God bless you my friend 😇 🙏
It’s funny as they said, “they drank wine at church and they didn’t get drunk”. Where’s the limit that you call “drunk”? Many drunk people can act very normal that others wouldn’t notice. There’s no such thing as drinking alcohol and not being affected by it.
No. My extended family drinks. Most of them can have a small amount of alcohol without effect. Alcohol is processed in the liver. Intoxication occurs when the amount or speed overwhelms the liver.
Your explanation on consuming wine to say It's ok to indulge, but don't abuse it. However, if drinking causes or influences one to sin. Isn't that like saying, "you can sin a little just as long as you don't overdo it"?. That seems to cloud the idea that one without sin, would slightly influence it. Please answer, because I'm still struggling to find a better answer. Unless, the word "wine" was translated wrong.
wine - was unfermented, see Isaiah 65.8 it says the wine is in the cluster of grapes hanging on the vine...so it is unfermented..plus luke 1.15 says John the Baptist as the forerunner of Christ was forbidden to touch any type of alcohol...proverbs 20. 1 says wine is a mocker, I read 3 books on wine and they all agree the wine JEsus made and drank was unfermented
Jesus said he came to them drinking and eating and they called him a drunk and a glutton. He also said that what goes into the body is not what defiles the body it's what comes out that comes from the heart. He said what you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it to God. It's different to drink a little than to be a drunkard. Why would he even mention that it was ok to drink wine if he was talking about grape juice?
@Jesus Saves absolutely right! That’s the verse that I tell people who think Jesus made alcoholic wine at the wedding. Jesus would be breaking the law if he did. Once you read the entire bible on the subject and the Lord gives you wisdom and opens your eyes, you’ll find out that alcohol is the DECIEVER. Is it’s the venom of vipers and dragons Deut 32:33. And who is the decider and the dragon refer to in the Bible? Yep the devil who deceiveth the whole world rev 12:9. The whole world is under it. Even Solomon in all his wisdom told us , that it’s not wise if you get deceive by alcohol proverbs 20:1 It’s not for kings to drink wine or strong drink Prov 31:4. But are we Kings? Lol yeap Rev 1:6 Now, for all of people saying that is ok to drink a little (moderation) well I got news too from the Apostle Paul. This is WHY people NEED a good "concordance" and a lot of "cross-referencing of scriptures, for issues like these... It is OK if you don't feel comfortable drinking a small-moderate amount of alcohol once in a while, but it is sinful to impose your own conscience onto another as "doctrine". Independant Fundamental Baptists, not ALL but many, seem to adhere to this false doctrine of "any amount of alcohol is a sin". Wine CAN indeed refer to either unfermented or fermented grape juice. It is language and CONTEXT which dictates the truth on each mention. The wine that Jesus made was most CERTAINLY alcoholic, here is why... Look at the language structure and the uses in context of the word "wine"_"oinos"(G3631) and the word "drunk"_"methyo`". Look at their Greek definitions, uses in scripture as well as the context in which they are used. First. let's look at the passage "John 2:10", the wedding miracle at Cana... Let's state the context for the partial scripture of John 2:10 before taking a look at this study. Jesus had just commanded His disciples to fill the water pots with water and draw out the water, which Jesus turned to wine, and bring it to the master of the feast... "And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good *WINE* ; and when men have *WELL DRUNK* , then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good *WINE* until now." John 2:10 Let's focus first on the word "wine" which comes from the Greek word "oinos"(G3631). Oinos[G3631]-- primary word (wine) , from Hebrew origin "yayin" H3196-- to effervesce by quality of fermentation. Alcohol, wine, winebibber. To further understand this word, let us look at the uses of this word in scripture. We will look at three passages. "And be not drunk with *WINE* , wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit..." Ephesians 5:18 Same word, oinos(G3631) used in a command by Paul to NOT be intoxicated with wine. "And no man putteth new *WINE* into old bottles: else the new *WINE* doth burst the bottles, and the *WINE* is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new *WINE* must be put into new bottles." Mark 2:22 Same word "oinos" used in a parable about the new covenant using the symbology of wine's fermenting qualities. This is illustrated by the fact that "the bottles BURST" from the alcoholic fermentation qualities... "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither *WINE* nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb." Luke 1:15 Same word "oinos" used here as a command for John the baptist's lifestyle of abstaining from intoxicating beverages as a prophet to prepare the Messiah's path before Him... Next, we will look at the word "drunk" in John 2:10. Drunk G3184: methyo: to drink to intoxication, get drunk. To make or be made drunken. see 1 Corinthians 5:11(methysos) " But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a *DRUNKARD* , or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat." 1 Corinthians 5:11 Drunkard: "Methysos" G3183(from root word [methyo] "G3184") : Tipsy, a sot. Drunkard/alcoholic.(see John 2:10) Before some joker tries to pull the "you're just trying to justify your sinful carnal desires!!" card, THINK AGAIN! I haven't had a DROP of ethanol in ANY form for over 11 years. Not because I CAN'T, but because I choose not to so as not to make weaker brothers stumble. Some people are weak in the faith and do not fully understand the truth of this matter. They feel "offended" regarding the blessing of alcohol/wine and their conscience is weak in this matter. On THEIR behalf, not mine, I choose to abstain so to walk in love. If I ever DO choose I would like a glass of wine, I shall ONLY do so PRIVATELY in my own home and away from the presence of a weaker brother's conscience... "Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy not the work of God. *All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence* . It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing *whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak* . *Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth* . And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for *whatsoever is not of faith is sin* ." Romans 14:19-23
Very good. This video was terrible and you did a great job laying out the word in an unbiased way. Like you we choose not to, not because we think it’s wrong to occasionally have wine but we want to be set apart this for the Lord. That’s it. It’s an outward profession of our changed lives in the Lord. Again, great job.
Yes you're right ligtd. The bible says each man must make up his own mind whether he wants to drink wine or not. Although we are never to cause a brother to stumble. Let no man judge you in what you eat or drink.
Don't let alcohol fool you. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Prov. 20:1 John the Baptist wasn't eating or drinking anything from the grape and they said he had a devil , so when Jesus drank and ate products of the grape (not alcoholic wine), they called Him a drunkard because they were false accusers, not because he drank alcoholic wine. You have to understand the Jewish culture of the time and the Nazarite vow. They knew that Proverbs condemned alcohol. (Look not on the wine when it is red (alcoholic))
If an engine on a plane is about to explode and cause great ruin it is entirely appropriate to shut it down. If one part of the garden of God, the olive tree, the fig tree and the vineyard goes bad we cut it down and burn it. Why do Baptist families who ban wine have more of a problem with alcoholism than Jews who do not? Back to the plane with the shut-down engine of celebration. Is there hope the engine can be replaced and the plane can be repaired and fly on all engines again? Is there hope that the ruined vineyard can flourish again as God ordained it in the garden of God? What was the first miracle Jesus did? And why did he do this? Is celebration, the wine, singing, the dance, bad in itself? Does the devil own celebration? Or are we are just sour grapes? What was the value and the divine purpose of the vineyard and the wine of communion according to Holy Scripture? What is the value of the vineyard and the wine according to Jotham’s riddle in Judges 9:13?

Strong drink was for the drink offering which was poured out. It represents the wrath of God. The pure blood of the grape represents the blood of Jesus. And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering.

I'm far from an expert but it doesn't take a rocket scientist or theologian to figure it out. It was the year 33 AD or so. The making of grape juice or wine was pretty simple you squeezed the juice out of grape in a wine press or by stomping on them. The new juice was grape juice. Grape juice can naturally ferment and develop alcohol. Now here's the clincher. Grape season was from June - September. The Last Supper was in April. That 6 months of the grape juice sitting there without preservatives. What do think the alcohol content in the Grape juice was at the Last Supper? Did Jesus drink it? IDK. Now when was the Wedding in Cana?
For communion we should use wine because that is what it says. As For the argument about using wine it might make one relapse let us not forget being a Christian has a lot to do with self control and our father does not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil. Having real fermented wine at communion, as the Scriptures show us by necessary inference and authoritative example, does not mean we are getting drunk on it or that it should even lead us into temptation. Our focus is unifying the body and getting our minds centered on the Lord and His will for us
this is dangerous and wrong, your main argument was from a culture perspective, and not a biblical one. This is a violation of Matthew 5:19. Proverbs 20:1 says wine is a Mocker (sin), it is not stated if it is abused. There is more than one meaning for wine. When you profess Christianity where untold people will be influenced by what you say. There is much on this topic that needs to be explained.
Do not let people fool you, they have made new rituals and Laws based on tradition not Truth. Jesus drank wine just read for yourself but beyond that let Him teach you in the Spirit and trust NO MAN not even me. Luke 7:33-34 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners!’ Matthew 26:28-30 28 This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
Pointless, we all know that we are the temple of God, we all know what is good or bad for us, alcohol or no alcohol we all should served God. The enemy wants us to fight for anything, a divided kingdom is easy to destroy.
To me you have hit the main target....division. On this issue, and many others, the legalists, the pharisaical, are dividing the Kingdom over this issue. Let's be clear, the division on this topic is coming from one side of this debate (mostly). To me, that's the main point. Scripture is clear. The wine in the Bible - oft referred to positively - is alcoholic just as the the wine warned against is. It's a heart issue. A personal issue. There is not a "thus sayeth" edict for all that I can see.
I don’t drink around people. I drink at home only in moderation. No reason to offend people or even get into a debate about this, but I definitely will not be taking biblical advice from someone who thinks the Bible is instructing us to not be given to much grape juice.
Mosaic laws priests did not drink alcohol. Jesus was a Jew and followed the Mosaic law. If he did drink alcohol he would have been stoned. Jesus is also a High Priest and tells man that we are priests and Ambassadors on earth, which means Christians as Priests should also not drink alcohol.
Wrong, Luke 7:33-34 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners!’ Jesus can do what he wants.

WINE WAS UNFERMENTED....read Isaiah 65.8 - the wine is in the cluster of grapes so these people are wrong ---plus - John the Baptist was forbidden to drink wine or strong drink...so if he could not - Christ could or would not....plus Christ said he would drink the fruit of the vine with his disciples in heaven, so do we expect alcohol in heaven....the bible is either for or against it, it is not up to the person...alcohol kills people from drunk drivers or domestic violence
It never occurred to me, before watching this, that I was up to a debate based on human perceptions, rather than the Word of God. For sure, by their fruits you shall know them.
Me as an Alcoholic should not drink wine of any sort I don’t believe Jesus drank the same type of fermented wine we drink today. It had some type of fermentation but not like we drank today as wine.
Jesus was without sin. He did not drink fermented alcohol in any form because that would be sin. The Bible says in Proverbs don't even look upon the wine when it is red in the glass. There is a difference between juice and fermented wine. The Bible speaks many times against drunkenness. Jesus would not have created a fermented form of alcohol causing people to sin drinking it. It is not the character of God to tempt anyone to sin.
Noah got drunk with wine, Lot got drunk with wine. Of course wine is fermented. The Bible specifies: drunkards, not to drinking wine will condemned you. Big difference. If it makes you not to control it, then is not for you.
The issue of alcohol has never been addressed properly. This has made many people to drink it in hiding which is wrong. There are various doctrines around wine. The Bible says that all things are permissible but not beneficial. I would have no problem drinking wine. I have in the past without getting drunk. That's me.
I never read where Jesus dranked wine. He turned water to wine, but it never said he dranked it. The Bible also say touch not taste not handle not which is harmful to your flesh. But you can get the fruit from the vine and let it set, it will turn to wine. But you guys never answered the question yet
There are scriptures that indicate He did indeed drink wine...two instances I know of....the key word being indicate. What we do know is that the water He turned into wine was given to guests who in many cases were already somewhat intoxicated. I think that's a red flag to anyone preaching 100% abstinence for all here. I think God has this here for the shock value, but that's just my take. As for harming the flesh, it's pretty clear now that wine, and even other adult beverages, taken in moderation and with a meal, is GOOD for your flesh. Same for dark chocolate and coffee too!
Amen! Because I don’t understand why would an angel come to tell John the Baptist’s parents in Luke chapter 1 verses 13 to 15 for him not to drink any kind of alcohol, but that not stand for our God our Lord Jesus Christ our savior!?
This is not even a “hard question” ... Luke 7:34 clearly shows how Jesus drank wine because the Pharisees accused Him of being a drunkard! How could they call Him a drunkard if He was drinking no alcoholic grape juice. The verse before shows how the same Pharisees called John the Baptist a demon when he, conversely, didn’t drink wine. Why would the Pharisees attack John for not touching grape juice!? Nonsense
Yasha Jackson No He did not. When the word wine is used in the Bible,it can relate to alcohol or grape juice. In Habakkuk 2:15 the Bible condemns any high priest who gives his neighbors drink to make him drunk. Jesus is The High Priest in Hebrews and is faithful. He would have given them strong drink,He would have violated Hab 2:15. The Bible always uses strong drink in a bad context, and in many passages condemns it. Some people just want to justify drinking so they can sleep better.
Noah was the first know person to plant a vineyard and what happened,, he got drunk.... so I would say the fruit of the vine is fermented besides the symbolism behind the process of fermentation is very interesting.
Colossians 2:16 Let no man, therefore, judge you in food, OR IN DRINK, or in a feast day, or of a new moon, or of a Sabbath day. We are under grace not the law. Galatians 2:21. John 3:18.
The word of God says be holy as I am holy if Jesus drink wine he would ceased to be a perfect holy sacrifice for our sins.the wine Jesus drank was unfermented just like we have today we have arms unlimited wine and we have alcoholic wine there's two different kinds the Bible also says to be sober-minded at all times that means you cannot take anything is mind-altering so just pain pills alcohol marijuana anything that is intoxicating that changes the way you think it is demonic

@@joemonroe9456 Well I know in many Messianic Churches and Jewish synagogues they give out wine so its not a Jewish custom to hate wine, its actually an Arab custom. You might be right about Jesus never drinking alcohol, but we know Jesus made alcoholic wine at the wedding party. Why would the man say that they bring out the worst wine last if it was just grape juice? Look Jesus said its not what goes into a man that defiles him but what comes out, wine is not the problem but the heart of man is the problem. The Bible also says this about wine, so we know drinking is not the problem in itself. Proverbs 31:6 ESV Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress.
@@fishersofmen4727 the wine Jesus made at the wedding was not alcoholic. That would make Jesus a law breaker (sinner) if he actually did according to Habakkuk 2:15. Also Habakkuk is talking about those who use Alcohol to get others naked and look at them, perverts. Proverbs 31:6 says "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts" So is the Bible contradicting itself or are you just wrong, I think its you not the Bible. Yes & then someone finds out “through the vine” that you drink alcohol at home in secret & then you are discharged from the church. Well, the Bible instructs us to do it in secret so….
Wine is not distilled like Pastor Glaze says. Whiskey, Brandy and other hard Liquor or Spirits are distilled, not wine. I so wish people would get their facts straight especially when dealing with biblical matters. If you knew anything about chemistry or rather the chemical process you would know that biblical wine is real wine and not grape juice like some Christians like to say when they when addressing the subject. They use grape juice as an excuse for wine in the bible. Wine is wine.
Not sure why he said grape juice don't make the heart glad. ALL of Gods fruits would make the heart glad. I have often wondered what it would be like in heaven and my scenario is that exactly that, that everything is absolutely amazing and beautiful. This would include a piece of fruit. You would not need it to survive but because God loves you so much, God constantly tries to please you and you love God so much that you are in constant amazement of everything God does. So yes if you had a grape "juice" it would be the most incredible amazing juice you have ever tasted. And not only that, you would feel as if you were tasting it for the first time everytime you tasted it. If you saw a waterfall, it would feel like it was the very first time even if you saw it countless times. After all, what could you possibly give to God that created everything? Your love and adoration. You talk God creates. God loves you so much that God makes all the things pleasing to you. So is it possible for the misinterpretation of wine in the bible? Yes. In fact I think they may have purposely changed that over time to serve their own selfish wants as I am sure they have done about other things in the bible. I love you God. 🙏🕯️🌍💕
The Bible does not mention if the wine was fermented or not! It was a miracle! New wine refered to new season wine which had to be tithed, old wine was not tighted! Jesus did not drink grape juice or wine, He was dedicated as a Nazarite! Read the Bible!
Why do they mock when the question is brought? "Well the Bible says Jesus made "wine." Duh, we all know wine has alcohol in it. It is very clear in the Bible and when you study history that "wine" was a generic term meaning fermented or unfermented.
Any religion that advocates drinking alcohol is a joke, (period) been there, done that and I don't need it anymore . This is one of main reasons I think Christianity moral code is redundant
Be sober is a command in the bible. The winebibber interpretation of various passages is to justify intoxicating themselves. Grape juice represents the blood of Jesus which washes away the sins of the world. Alcoholic wine represents the wrath of God which is poured out on the wicked.
The following does not make sense: "The master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into GRAPE JUICE. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice GRAPE JUICE first and then the cheaper GRAPE JUICE after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best GRAPE JUICE till now. LOL Jesus made real wine and it was not a drunken party but a wedding celebration that needed more wine and Jesus fulfilled this need. They needed more wine to last for a long time. Fresh wine has not had time to ferment but Jesus’ wine tasted great. Jesus created real wine without sinning. We are to use real wine at the Lord’s supper as the BIBLE says "wine makes the heart glad" to celebrate the resurrection. God creates for our enjoyment and necessity whether food or drink but we sin if we abuse these.
It’s appalling that we use grape juice to represent the strong, powerful, healing, medicinal, cleansing blood of Jesus. Big big difference & we wonder why there’s so much sickness & disease & legalism & pride in the church.
Gods word not mine. When you are pointing your finger at some one else, you are pointing three back at yourself. We are all sinners. Romans 3:23. Romans 3:9-10. There is none righteous, no not one. Something about taking the log out of our own eye before we try to take the splinter out of our brothers eye. I have smoked tobacco moderately since I was 18. Of course, I am only 80 now. So I will probable eventually die. Romans 6:23.
Yes Christ taught us that drinking alcohol is good. To be a true Christian even requires it. Christ said in Luke 5:37-39 "And no man putteth new wine (grape juice) into old bottles (brittal leather animal skins) ; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish (from the stretching caused by the fermentation process) But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better." In parenthesis added to make sure you get what is being said. Any true Christian must drink wine, because it represents the blood of Christ. Christ said Joh 6:54 "Whoso eateth my flesh , and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." Drinking wine represents the blood of Christ, not grape juice. We know Christ died on Passover and Passover is six months after grape harvest. Grape juice only take about 2 weeks to turn to wine. Therefore we know for certain that Christ was using the real fermented wine which he said once you taste you should not desire unfermented grape juice again! It is sad that most Protestants are against the teachings of Christ.
If it was fermented wine, Jesus would be guilty of making someone drunk. "And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now." John 2:10 And how much wine was it? 180 gallons. One hundred and eighty. Wow. So if we suggest this was alcohol, then we have Christ guilty of making people drunk! Can He really be God then?
What are the qualifications of a bishop? No wine. What are the qualifications of a deacon? Not given to much wine which means he can have some. How about the elderly women of the church? same as a Deacon. What were Paul's instructions to Timothy? Take a little wine for your stomach's sake. Drunkenness is a sin but having some wine is not. You have to follow the Word of God, DO NOT make up your own rules. I would even agree it's best to not drink at all but that is not what the Bible says. Also, the Passover wine was normally if not always fermented (wine).
“Jesus took the cup & said this is my blood…” There is a huge difference drinking wine to represent the blood of Jesus. Wine is strong, powerful, healing, medicinal. Grape juice? Not so much…
Jesus talked about new wine in new wineskins. Fermentation would cause the wineskin to explode. Jews drink wine. Jesus took the wine and blessed it. You aren't answering the question, "Did Jesus Drink REAL Wine or Grape Juice?"

The scriptures show clearly that Jesus did drink wine. Why didn’t they just refer to the Bible? Maybe because they are not familiar with the scriptures? You be the judge. Luke 7:33,34 Likewise, John the Baptist has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine, but you say: ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of man has come eating and drinking, but you say: ‘Look! A man who is a glutton and is given to drinking wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. It’s clear that Jesus said he partook of drinking wine, as taken from the context of his own words in the scripture mentioned above. It is also clear that this group of religious people do not have anything but their own thoughts to contribute to this subject. The Bible is the authority.
I will offer a syllogism:
Grapes ripen in the Northern Hemisphere in late summer/ early fall.
Exactly.
Nice try, but obviously Jesus synthesized special non alcoholic wine from water as He did in John 2 ;)
Unfortunately, many Christians' objection to all alcohol consumption is not based in scripture or logic.

Having a degree in Viticulture and Enology, I love hearing people make ridiculous explanations about how grape juice was preserved year round 2000 years ago.
Learn a little history then.
@@joemonroe9456 Please explain the process they used.
9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom

If you know here where it says, most people serve the good wine first, and then after people have drunk freely, the inferior wine.... anyone who has had a little bit too much wine and gotten a little bit tipsy or drunk can tell you that the reason this was done was because after you have become a little bit tipsy and drunk you can no longer tell the difference between the good wine and the bad wine so it is safe to say the wine was extremely alcoholic..... it is most likely the same wine that Noah drunk in the Old Testament after the flood had subsided and his son's found him so drunk that he was passed out in a cave..... look that one up: Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded a to plant a vineyard.
Hopefully, like you and me 🤣 😂
God bless you my friend 😇 🙏
It’s funny as they said, “they drank wine at church and they didn’t get drunk”. Where’s the limit that you call “drunk”? Many drunk people can act very normal that others wouldn’t notice. There’s no such thing as drinking alcohol and not being affected by it.
No. My extended family drinks. Most of them can have a small amount of alcohol without effect. Alcohol is processed in the liver. Intoxication occurs when the amount or speed overwhelms the liver.
There is no such thing as drinking coffee and not being effected by it.
There is no such thing as drinking water and not being effected by it.

I love it when Gods angels are at work. Thank you for answering my question. You made my day. God bless you.
He says there is no such a thing as moderation when you drink alcohol Ephesians 5:18. There is always excess. In conclusion the Bible clearly speaks about alcohol.. it actually screams out loud when you read it.. it screams DONT DRINK IT , DONT DRINK IT , DONT DRINK IT!. Stay sober and vigilant brothers and sisters!

"And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good *WINE* ; and when men have *WELL DRUNK* , then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good *WINE* until now."
John 2:10
Let's focus first on the word "wine" which comes from the Greek word "oinos"(G3631).
Oinos[G3631]-- primary word (wine) , from Hebrew origin "yayin" H3196-- to effervesce by quality of fermentation. Alcohol, wine, winebibber.
To further understand this word, let us look at the uses of this word in scripture. We will look at three passages.
"And be not drunk with *WINE* , wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit..."
Ephesians 5:18
Same word, oinos(G3631) used in a command by Paul to NOT be intoxicated with wine.
"And no man putteth new *WINE* into old bottles: else the new *WINE* doth burst the bottles, and the *WINE* is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new *WINE* must be put into new bottles."
Mark 2:22
Same word "oinos" used in a parable about the new covenant using the symbology of wine's fermenting qualities. This is illustrated by the fact that "the bottles BURST" from the alcoholic fermentation qualities...
"For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither *WINE* nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb."
Luke 1:15
Same word "oinos" used here as a command for John the baptist's lifestyle of abstaining from intoxicating beverages as a prophet to prepare the Messiah's path before Him...
Next, we will look at the word "drunk" in John 2:10.
Drunk G3184: methyo: to drink to intoxication, get drunk. To make or be made drunken.
see 1 Corinthians 5:11(methysos)
" But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a *DRUNKARD* , or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."
1 Corinthians 5:11
Drunkard: "Methysos" G3183(from root word [methyo] "G3184") : Tipsy, a sot. Drunkard/alcoholic.(see John 2:10)
Before some joker tries to pull the "you're just trying to justify your sinful carnal desires!!" card, THINK AGAIN!
And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for *whatsoever is not of faith is sin* ."
Romans 14:19-23

I agree with you 100% . We have to agree that culturally it was ok to drink fermented wine. It was not considered a sin. Jesus did not die yet.
Don't let alcohol fool you. Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Prov. 20:1
John the Baptist wasn't eating or drinking anything from the grape and they said he had a devil , so when Jesus drank and ate products of the grape (not alcoholic wine), they called Him a drunkard because they were false accusers, not because he drank alcoholic wine.

I'm far from an expert but it doesn't take a rocket scientist or theologian to figure it out. It was the year 33 AD or so. The making of grape juice or wine was pretty simple you squeezed the juice out of grape in a wine press or by stomping on them. The new juice was grape juice. Grape juice can naturally ferment and develop alcohol. Now here's the clincher. Grape season was from June - September. The Last Supper was in April. That 6 months of the grape juice sitting there without preservatives. What do think the alcohol content in the
Grape juice was at the Last Supper? Did Jesus drink it? IDK. Now when was the Wedding in Cana?

For communion we should use wine because that is what it says. As For the argument about using wine it might make one relapse let us not forget being a Christian has a lot to do with self control and our father does not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil. Having real fermented wine at communion, as the Scriptures show us by necessary inference and authoritative example, does not mean we are getting drunk on it or that it should even lead us into temptation. Our focus is unifying the body and getting our minds centered on the Lord and His will for us
The son of man came eating and drinking. Did Jesus lie or did he come eating and drinking?
The 'wine' that Jesus presented at the wedding was 'new wine' - fresh from the grape - which is why they were so surprised when it was out of season.
this is dangerous and wrong, your main argument was from a culture perspective, and not a biblical one. This is a violation of Matthew 5:19. Proverbs 20:1 says wine is a Mocker (sin), it is not stated if it is abused. There is more than one meaning for wine. When you profess Christianity where untold people will be influenced by what you say. There is much on this topic that needs to be explained.

That's me.

Proverbs 31:6 ESV

Lol if you take the accusation of him being a winebibber, then are all the other accusations true? . But they are not true. Don’t be deceived!
@@augustinevn7408 Habakkuk is not even apart of the Books of the Law/Torah, you are creating more laws that are not even real laws by taking the Bible out of context.

Wine is not distilled like Pastor Glaze says. Whiskey,
Brandy and other hard Liquor or Spirits are distilled, not wine. I so wish
people would get their facts straight especially when dealing with biblical
matters. If you knew anything about chemistry
or rather the chemical process you would know that biblical wine is real wine
and not grape juice like some Christians like to say when they when addressing
the subject. They use grape juice as an
excuse for wine in the bible.

The Bible does not mention if the wine was fermented or not! It was a miracle! New wine refered to new season wine which had to be tithed, old wine was not tighted! Jesus did not drink grape juice or wine, He was dedicated as a Nazarite! Read the Bible!
Pharisees accused Jesus of being a drunkard. If I drink a grape juicebox every meal, nobody would accuse me of being a drunkard
This was the best wine they ever drank.
Why do they mock when the question is brought? "Well the Bible says Jesus made "wine." Duh, we all know wine has alcohol in it. It is very clear in the Bible and when you study history that "wine" was a generic term meaning fermented or unfermented.
Funny how only Americans doubt that the word "wine" in the Bible actually means wine. I never heard these kind of discussions in Europe in any church.
@@joemonroe9456 Is it wine or grape juice sipped by congregants in the Catholic church on Sundays that kids aren't allowed to even taste it?

Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice GRAPE JUICE first and then the cheaper GRAPE JUICE after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best GRAPE JUICE till now. Jesus made real wine and it was not a drunken party but a wedding celebration that needed more wine and Jesus fulfilled this need.
Deuteronomy 14:26 Go buy whatever your soul desires, sheep or oxen or for wine or strong drink. And throw a party.

What discussion it was all to short.
No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better."
In parenthesis added to make sure you get what is being said. Any true Christian must drink wine, because it represents the blood of Christ. Christ said
Joh 6:54 "Whoso eateth my flesh , and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." Drinking wine represents the blood of Christ, not grape juice.
"And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now." John 2:10
And how much wine was it? 180 gallons. One hundred and eighty. Wow. So if we suggest this was alcohol, then we have Christ guilty of making people drunk! Can He really be God then?
Jesus drank dakhras , he didn't even touched alcohol like beer and whiskey
Not so much…
I think Jesus drank wine at the marriage feast at Cana.
I think one glass to celebrate the marriage.
