Curaçao (Willemstad) Cruise Port Guide: Tips and Overview

- The Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao -- known for its centuries-old, brightly colored architecture -- is located in the Caribbean Sea, about 45 miles north of Venezuela. Cruise ships dock in the Capital city of Willemstad, which had its historic city center selected as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997.
While some smaller ships dock in the harbor of St. Anna Bay, most dock at the Mega Pier. Both are within walking distance of the city’s shopping and tourist areas. In this video, we will explore Curaçao by foot, starting from the Mega Pier.

Outstanding as usual.
Great work!
Very helpful. Thanks
You do the best job of anyone online of breaking down ports, ships, and everything in general. I suggest your videos to anyone planning to sail.
Thank you so much! We sincerely appreciate it!
Thank you for that fantastic tour. One of my bucket list places to visit.
I am now a subscriber too
Glad you enjoyed the video! Be sure to check out the video from our latest visit to Curaçao, when we rented a car and drove around the island: ruclips.net/video/xuAiqH2Qh1g/видео.html
We learned about the padlock/heart from your video and as a result I sought out and found your pink lock! We locked ours right next to it.
That's so awesome!!!
By chance, did you take a photo of the locks? If so, would you mind sharing with us? thejellybeans@thejellybeans.net Thanks!!!
@@TheJellyBeans just emailed you.
Michael Raper I loved that little tidbit too! I’ll be taking a lock with me!
great video
That place looks gorgeous in Jan 2020 I'll be going there for the first time and can't wait. I have an ostrich farm excursion planned as well, that looks fun.
Hope you enjoy your visit!
I went to the ostrich Park in 2012 it was fun.
Thank you so much for that nicely written piece of text. Thanks form Lucas
Thank you for the informative video. We will be there next year when sailing the Magic.
Hope you enjoy your visit! Is your ship going stay in port late?
This is a very well done video, I highly recommend you watch if traveling to Williamstad.
Thank you!
Looks like a great place to relax m. .
Thanks
Big ups to my family in tera kora
anyone know how many miles they traveled during this route? The video said it was all within walking distance, but everyone's ideas of walking distance is different.
The entire walk was approximately 2 miles long from the furthest cruise dock. If your ship docks at the closer pier, it would be a bit shorter. The furthest point -- the old market -- was a bit less than a mile away.
I went here in 2012.
Yes, I will be in port late.
Great! Let us know how much you enjoy the contrast between the port during the day and then at night. 😀
I would HIGHLY recommend dining off the ship that night at Kome Restaurant. We just did this last Wednesday when we were in port and the place has some of the best flavorful food I have ever had.
>Curaçao is very windy.
Too bloody right. It's notorious for mooring ropes snapping, and ships often have to keep their thrusters running just in case.
Any beaches within walking distance of the port?
It looks like the closest beach with a good Trip Advisor rating (4 out of 5) is City Beach 88, which is about a 20-25 minute walk: www.curacao-travelguide.com/discover/beaches/City-Beach-88/
So no need to do excursions? We could do this port like on our own?
It's definitely possible to do on your own. In subsequent visits, we rented a car ruclips.net/video/xuAiqH2Qh1g/видео.html and did a walk to grab some snacks ruclips.net/video/_GKbERSpzCM/видео.html on our own.
How much does it cost to visit? Is it expensive, how much would it need it total?
We visited as part of a cruise on the Carnival Conquest, so it would really depend on the cost of your cruise.
Where are you coming from? I purchased a house in Curacao years ago as it affordable to get there and stay. Rent a car though, the taxis are expensive.
Just wondering about the merchants from Venezuela....with the country in such bad shape, and their currency isn't worth anything, I'm kinda doubting them selling anything in Curacao.
most shops will close at 6 pm.
exept for Thursday night when there is a shop g night called the punda vibes.
if you want to save some money avoid the tourist places have your lunch at the places where the locals eat the have great local food and for a much better price than the tourist places
No border control? I would like to have my passport stamped 😁
Most (all?) cruise ports don't do official passport stamps. You may find some that will do a souvenir stamp.
@@TheJellyBeans thanks 😊
