We can't wait to return there. It is definitely one of our favorites. Southern Caribbean cruises are awesome. Thanks for another informative Port Guide.
I love Curacao! I've never cruised there, but I've been there several times for work and it's such a historic place. The floating market is really great if you're looking for fresh fruit and veg to snack on while walking around. The small boats come from other countries and you deal directly with the person driving the boat. There are several excellent resort hotels on the island as well, which also have casinos. Love the island!
Nice! Yep, we've never made it over that far, to the floating market area. We don't have Curaçao on any of our future plans, which is a shame, ha ha... dang! I'm sure we'll get back there sometime!!
We stayed for 7 days at an all-inclusive resort in Curacao. We took the bus into Williamsted a few times. Beautiful island, I love it. Have a wonderful day :)
There is a beautiful very old Synagogue in Curaçao- originally from 1651 - after visiting every church imaginable in Aruba & Curaçao I took my friends to see the synagogue- the oldest synagogue building in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere- with sand on the floors & beautiful architecture, rich in history - with a small museum & gift shop! I visited the synagogue in 1996 - I was cruising on the NCL M/S Seaward!! I’ve been back to Curaçao since then, but haven’t gone back to see the synagogue (I think it was damaged during one of the hurricanes)! I also have memories of running across that floating bridge when the bell started to ring!! Exhilarating!!
Just love the port info from you two, so informative. We will be in Curacao via the Horizon on Nov 6 😀. Have not booked an excursion yet. We are there 1:30 til 10:30. Should be so much fun. Speaking of the liquor, my youngest daughter got married 2 yrs ago and her signature drink was called Something Blue which was made with curacao. Pretty drink.
We had such a fun day with Irie Tours, and that was the first time Dee had ever been that close to a turtle in the wild... let alone a dozen turtles!! :P #pahhhhh
We are doing the ABCs this coming May and your explanations of each port excite me! Can't wait. My honey and I aren't afraid to walk to many places, so I see the market here will be a must see. Our ship will only be there 8A-5P, so a relatively short day. Thinking snorkeling or the bus tour in the morning and wandering the city in the PM. Thanks for helping with this!!!
So glad you mentioned Irie Tours! We love them. Been to Curacao twice and have used them both times doing the East Side Tour. They are wonderful and so nice! We also got hugs when we met them at the pier to start the tour. Mambo Beach is awesome! We were going to for a 3rd time but it was cancelled for obvious reasons. Cannot wait to get back there! Curacao is one of our faves.
Yay!!! Thanks so much for these port guides! SO VALUABLE! I placed a link to this video into the Google doc I've started for our 2021 Breeze sailing, since we stop in Curacao. Keep up the awesome videos, Dee & Jay!
My favorite destination for number of amazing things you can do while there. Climb to the top of Mt Christophal and see the entire island shore to shore. The local food is fabulous. I always make sure to hits some food trucks. If you folks go back, get away from the city to really experience a great island! Thanks for the video 👌
Yay - perfectly timed videos for me. I’m going on a cruise next year which includes Curaçao so this is perfect for me cause I’ve never been there before :)
Ah, we're slated to record an Aruba episode this weekend, and it'll probably post while we're out and about on our cruise adventures here in a couple of weeks, ha ha... woohoo!! :D
I love your channel and this video .My hubby and I will be here in Feb 2022 and was wondering what is this coupon book you speak of? Thanks for the great guide can't wait!!!!!!
Curaçao is my absolute favorite port I have been to thus far. I just loved it. We hopped onto an old school bus and had a tour of the entire island and the distillery for $20 each. No A/C but best tour ever. So informative and fun. I could live in Curaçao. That said, the most beautiful water I have yet to see is absolutely Grand Turk.
We did a Curacao historical tour, similar to the highlights tour. We had an obnoxious tour guide, but we still got a great feel for the island. Just as your advice was, we typically take a tour of an island each time we go to a new destination. We liked Curacao, but my wife and I preferred Aruba (same cruise). We may just do shopping and dining our next time in Curacao. In a few weeks, we will be on the same Victory cruise you two were just on and we are taking another couple with us who are cruise newbies. So we are doing the tour thing again of Cozumel and Key West (our 3rd time at each port) to hang with them.
Yep, we normally try to hit an island tour if it's our first time visiting somewhere. We like the walk-able aspect of Curaçao and didn't get that same vibe at Aruba, but looking at Google Maps there's some Aruba stuff in walking distance. We may have to check that out when we're there again!!
Haaah, for us, every cruise is a group cruise... we just don't set up an actual "group", ha ha... we keep it super low-key, and just toss our schedule out there and say whoever wants to come along, come on... keep it simple!! :P
Thank you! Have you been to Bermuda, Dominica, Barbados, or Road Town BVI . I ask as I'm looking for port guides as we will be doing these on our transatlantic cruise next April, and I love your honesty 👍
Oh nice! We've done Dominica once, Barbados once with another visit coming in November, but no Bermuda or Tortola just yet. We have both scheduled for the fall of 2020, but that'll be after you sail. We're doing a T/A in April 2020 as well via Norwegian, and we're excited for that one, hah... but yes, I've got Dominica and Barbados on my brain to cover in the not-too-distant future!! :D
Yes, I remembered you are doing TA too. You will be visiting my home town of Liverpool I believe Our TA does Azores Belgium and France before we disembark at Newcastle ( it is 21 days mind you) can't wait for your next port guides. You are appreciated 😎🚢
We are indeed! The 14-day Journeys at the beginning of November. I'm sure we'll be around the ship at all our usual haunts, ha ha... trivia, shows, dance classes... :P I'm still working on excursion ideas for that trip, but I know there were a few folks in the B'more area that were wanting to put together a li'l pre-cruise dinner that night before the cruise, so we're plotting that as well!!
ParoDeeJay we live across the bay from Annapolis and will be driving in on embarkation day. We like the comedy club but spend A LOT of time on our aft wrap-around balcony. We are booked on the train and scenic drive in St Kitts, and the airplane watching and snorkel in St Maarten
We’ll be looking for you too ... we’ll be on the week before the Journeys Cruise, visiting Bermuda. Then we move down the hall [yeah... two separate bookings!] from 4190 to 4220 for the Journeys trip! Greetings. Our RUclips channel: bit.ly/OffRRockers
Nah, we had the train in Grenada break down on us, and we had to walk back to the port. But then we went back out that afternoon and the second train worked fine, ha ha... good times... :P Never tried the one in Curacao.
I learned that unfortunately a lot of things there are closed on Sundays. My friend and I also almost sort of got kidnapped by a very high man but that's another story. Got my blue Curacao!
@@TheSeanBampton we realized that he was likely not sure what day it was, or that it was a day. He just didn't have the taxi he said he had. We found a nice lady who actually had a van, and knew how to get to the distillery, so she earned a healthy tip 😊
@@RobSojourn LOL we did the Chobolobo deluxe tour and found it was definitely worth the money. You're supposed to get two drinks but I guess it was a slow day and they apparently like Canadians because we spent a few hours there and it was a rough trip back to the hotel. Thankfully we had three days off work to recover.
CURAZAO is the Jewish mecca of the Caribbean! If/when you go to their existing (there used to be 2) Synagogue, there is a museum open to ALL, which is not to be missed in the middle of the city. One of the pastel colored homes has on front-top the Jewish year and the year that it was built, etc.
And if they close the bridge as you said the Ferry boat is free of charge. I walked across the bridge and took the ferry back as the boat traffic was going through. Curacao again in 2021 here we come
Hey guys, just subscribed! You both are sooooo funny!!! Love your videos! Look forward to being in your vlog family, feel free to join ours! Happy cruising!
From what I remember, the whole port area, all the way through the security gate, the RIF fort, and even across the floating bridge to town was flat with no steps, so it seems like a super accessible port overall, and beautiful!! :D

what coupon book?
We haven't seen it on recent cruises, but pre-pandemic you could purchase a coupon book from the onboard shopping expert on Carnival ships.
Going for the first time in December and still can't figure out what we want to do.
