This was so helpful! We will be moving from VA to NC. I don’t like that VA requires that we turn in test scores and (from what I understand ) can stop you from homeschooling if the score is not high enough. NC seems much better.
Why do they require vaccination records, and do they check them? Whatt if i dont want particular vaccinations for them? Or if someone does not vaccinate at all?
So my son is 5 years old I’m in nc do I file intent before his 7 years old or after , I kinda got lost when you mention it and far as testing do I have to test in prek and kindergarten
I have used the CAT but any standardized test. I think you can also use the Iowa. Some of these require you to have a high school diploma to administer the test. Check the rules for the test you select. You can check the link NC department of education website for more information.
you won't need to do an NOI until December. You can start in August even without an NOI because he is not yet 7 years old. When you do your NOI you can put your school year from August to June if you want, but your noi won't need to be to completed until he is 7 years old.
How do you do the testing? Is there a certain test you have to give to your kids to do or you do your own and keep record of it? Im a little confused, sorry
No need to be sorry, You have to choose a standardized exam. We've used the CAT each year as its cheapest and I order it online. you can administer it online. There are some rules regarding who can administer these standardized exams so check the rules. Usually toward the end of the traditional school year there are places that offer a special on the exams.
there are laws regarding someone homeschooling children that are not under their care. I'd recommend that you hire a tutor and you still maintain control of the homeschool. Plus there are other resources available online that children can participate in as well. Check what is local to you. I doubt that you'll mess them up. Everything is repeated throughout school so even if you miss something, can you share the year of the french and indian war and its effects on history? Probably not unless you were history major. I had several children graduate from public school and get into high esteemed colleges-unfortunately they didn't know the difference between states and countries and continents and probably can't name the capital of more than 10 states. You can do it.
As a home school mom, I can tell. With all certainty that we, as parents cannot mess up our children any more than the public education will. 😅 that's to say you are seriously trying to educate

I don’t have children. Can I charge families if their children attend my school?
you have to check the laws regarding homeschooling children that are not yours. The laws are different in each state.
Hello! Thanks for all the info. Do you know if it’s easy to get an immunization exemption? We are religious, if that’s a factor.
What month should I pull my child out of school and sign up for home school
Thank you this was helpful

@amywhitejones thank you
can I hire a private teacher ? I'm afraid to ruin my child's education so I rather have a professional do it
