From what I have read, the first generation of solo cabins on NCL had full-sized beds but with the Encore/Bliss/Prima they switched to a size found in the UK called a "small double" which is about 5' more narrow than a standard full...but still 10" wider than a standard twin.
I really enjoyed that single room walk through!!! If I was traveling alone, I know I would love this set up!!!! Even traveling with one of my friends, I would surely consider each of us getting our own Single room!!! I’m loving the layout and space! That solo lounge is really nice, the refreshments and very thoughtful they have meetings/ meet up for solo guess
I love that the bathroom is all together, not sink or toilet in separate space from shower. The dual use door is genius. Cute room, alright NCL Prima. Great video
You've never been in a studio in the other ships. Usually the toilet is in a closet in the corner and the other corner is the shower, so having a separate bathroom is FANCY!
@@rgruenhaus you have no evidence there is no evidence. Fact is, there is a lot of evidence, all kinds of it, borne out of logic, historical evidence, literary evidence, and even material evidence pointing to the supernatural. I absolutely ADORE all of the wood and black accents in these rooms - it just looks SO much more stylish than the gloss white-effect that I had in my studio cabin on NCL Escape - very well done, Norwegian!
I never been on NCL. Love the design of the solo cabin and lounge it is very nice. Enjoy your cruise. Oh $1800 for solo is very reasonable for 10 day cruise.
Having cruised twice by myself on Carnival years ago, I would have LOVED to have a solo cruise option like this. As much as I enjoy an oceanview cabin, that would be well worth the price.
Good morning from Boston Jay, another fantastic vlog my brother!! I sailed on Encore in a solo cabin and WILL book one of these cabins again. I loved the exclusivity and upgrades to the cabin, especially the bathroom/shower design, I'm glad to see that the outlets have been taken out of the cubby shelf as well as the storage space, taking into account that it is for one person. The only thing I can't fathom is why there are no mini fridges in any of these cabins as I would think they may be a necessity as opposed to an amenity. I love the lounge concept with coffees and snacks 24/7 (on Encore they were always fresh) and the addition of the beer station was a great idea too. For the time spent in the cabin, the size really wasn't remotely an issue for me. As far a pricing, I felt the fare was a bit of a saving from the dreaded strict "X2 single supplement". Overall, NCL hit a home run with this concept. I look forward to experiencing Prima someday. Sorry to be long winded but I really believe in this initiative NCL has given us. All good tidings Jay, Cheers!!
The price of an oceanview or balcony room is PER person and you have to book a 2nd person in the room with you or pay the price x 2. That is a Full-sized bed, a twin bed is only 36 inches wide. The Studio Lounge is beautiful, perfect place to get work done or answer emails. IF NCL could get Starlink or similar speed, it would be fantastic!
Depending on the sailing, even with the 2x price requirement an inside room is sometimes still cheaper than going with a Studio room. It is the case for me on an upcoming sailing at the end of this year. I know it sounds strange, but I guess it just depends on their overall supply/demand for each room class. The inside room ended up being about $140 cheaper for a 7-day cruise.
@@jonnieinbangkok the exemption for the solo supplement often happens after the final payment is due so be ready to pay for your full ticket when you book.
Just want to note that the room layout here is different than the typical layout that you will find on the other "older" NCL ships. I like the direction they went with this ship, and the room layout seems more thought out and better overall than the other Studio's I've stayed in. However, just wanted to mention that the Prima seems unique/different compared to the rest of the fleet.
I'm booked on the Prima for Dec 2023 in the solo cabin. Don't know how I feel about being in an inside cabin, but I'm going to give it a go. The size of the room doesn't bother me at all.
Awesome video! Thank you...liked and subscribed. I'm booked for this coming December 2022 in a Studio Cabin. Having this option (no upcharge for being solo traveler) allows me to possibly cruise twice a year instead of once. As long as i'm on the ship, I get the same access as everyone else (minus the Haven peeps) to everything, plus I'll have the Studio Lounge. NCL did a great thing when thinking about solo travelers. Keep the great content coming.
While the bottles or carton water is not free (and it should be) we brought our water bottles to any bar and they filled with water. We also have our steward put a pitcher of water in our room at night.
I would prefer this over an ocean view. Having a window overlooking the ocean is like staring at a delicious piece of cake behind a display. It’s a tease. I would choose balcony or solo.
I just sailed the Getaway in a solo studio-I like the addition of drawers which the Getaway didn't have. I agree with the water-even Carnival is generous with water. At least two bottles should be offered per cabin. The bed is definitely smaller. I like the bathroom setup-on the Getaway I felt like I was in a bathroom for a travel trailer. This is nice and open. They added shelving for bathroom and towel racks- Getaway didn't have them. I am surprised to see the lounge is as big as it is. Maybe guests will utilize more since no one really bothered on my sailing. Great video-def on my list for upcoming cruises. Thanks!
I’m also on the Getaway in February. Where was the electrical plugs & how many did you have? Any USB sockets? Anything else to to know about the studio stateroom on the Getaway? Thanks!
@Paul Wilgus Thank you very much. What you described is what I have seen in videos. The new studio on the new Prima is quite an upgrade as you can see from the video I posted.
I think the beds are a twin or full and your right it is super comfortable. I sail on the Bliss. I've done a seven day Mexican and 16 day Panama canal crossing in a studio. I only wish there was a mini fridge.
That lounge is beautiful. I have always avoided a cruise because I prefer to travel solo but refuse to pay the exorbitant (to me) fees. Thank you so much for the tour of your room and the lounge.
@@FraserAtSea I totally agree, NCL is the line to go with for solo cruising. I began my cruise journeys on the NCL Epic back when they first introduced the solo cabins and loved the experience. The solo lounge areas are amazing places to relax.
@@mike07646 oh, I was meant to do Epic out of Barcelona right before COVID, but had to cancel annoyingly. I’m hoping to get back on to record content for my RUclips channel on NCL soon - I love them!
I did NCL studio solo on the Viva and although it was small. It was fine. I’m 5’11 and it was small but the bed was big and comfortable. The lounge was generally quiet most of the time. I could fill up my water bottle without and glaring looks at the Seaside buffet
Hey J. Nice they have a lounge for solo travelers. Lots of drawers for storage and enough to hang your clothes. But can a woman’s king dress hang there?🤔. Lighting looks good. The bed looks bigger than a twin but smaller than a double. Oh. Another closet for dresses. So you can see right into the bathroom. The bathroom is nice. Shower looks roomy. Nice lounge. Like no one is in there. Coffee, snacks, fruit, croissants 🥐, cookies 🍪. Nice. Beer too? I see board games. Is there a restroom in there? $1800 not bad for a 10 day. But Jay. If one person stayed in an inside cabin , they would pay based on double occupancy so it would’ve been $3400 for 1 in an inside. So a studio solo cabin will always be a little more than an interior. I rather pay $1800 in a smidge smaller room than $3400 in a slightly bigger interior. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.
Why can't the Solo Cabins Lounge be placed on the hull of the ship and have at least some windows on the outside of the ship? A balcony off the lounge would be even better. The lounge might even get some use.
Thank you for the tour of the studio cabin and lounge. I have used studios on Breakaway and Breakaway+ classes but this looks like the best thus far. I booked one for a Bermuda trip next year.
I love this idea of studio cabins! I wish they had them in the way back when I was single as I would have cruised a lot more!! I'll be on the Prima in December!
Hi Jay! That room is so tiny but definitely has some amazing features and is styled nicely! But Jay I am curious to know what made you choose the studio cabin in comparison to the ocean view cabin or the inside cabin that was much cheaper? I am only asking because I have traveled by myself before and was curious about staying in a studio cabin but now seeing one I’m nervous about doing so. Can you please shed some knowledge without giving too much personal information about your decision when it came to making that room choice?
If I were to sail solo, I'd probably chose the ocean view, since I could have all of those features with a bigger room and view. My quiet place to read and work would be the actual room, and I'd get my snacks from the buffet and the cruise's other free amenities. Despite that, I'm glad you're happy with your choice. It is a beautiful room and I think it's great that they provide multiple choices for solo travelers. I'll definitely inform others who'd prefer that option. Thanks for the tips as always.
Been a solo traveler on the Epic, Escape, Getaway ( sailing again on a 9 day scheduled on Sept 29th) and just book the a 14 day on the Prima next September can't wait. I see they replaced the baskets underneath the bed with the drawers on the side. nice move actually gives you more storage. Love your channel bro! let me know how good the DJ is.
Out of curiosity Ray, which ship did you think had the best solo offering? I loved Escape, but hear it's got quite a small solo lounge compared to, for example, Epic?
@@FraserAtSea I think the Epic has the best Studio Lounge by far. I was able to get my same cabin on two different sailings.By looking at the video of the Prima , NCL had upped it's studio lounge game
Thanks for the very well done tour of the studio cabin and lounge. I just recently booked my very first cruise ever for 2024 on the Escape, maybe I will have book a cruise on Prima after that.

NCL's hairdryers are always under the desk. After not cruising for a couple of years when we finally went I forgot and was confused because we had no hairdryer. My husband reminded me and sure 'nuff there it was.
$1800? When you could have an ocean view? I guess I’m too claustrophobic. You did a delightful walk-through. I had a singles cabin (i think it was a singles cabin - it was pretty small) on the RC Grandeur and my estimation is it was twice as big as NCL’s. Of course, the Prima is a brand new, high tech, top of the line ship. On my cruise there was no lounge or key coded entry either. But I could walk through the room even with a closet door open. You’re not there for the room though - it’s all about bumper cars and mega slides! There’s a lot of fun to be had!
Ditto on the claustrophobia. Particularly when the seas are rough as they can be on this route. Took a similar route on RC but had a suite. It helped a lot to see the water when it got really rough. I would have been a mess without a window!
I think it's a decent size considering as a Navy sailor we only get a small coffin rack for months on end. However, if it around the same price of a oceanview or whatnot it would probably be better to just get that instead of the solo cabin.
What a cool lounge! And the room is really nicely appointed. I’d probably do the ocean view because I do like at least having a window. Pretty sure that was a twin bed. Maybe an oversized but I’m pretty sure it isn’t a full.
Late to the party! I was on the Prima transatlantic- was booked in a Studio but upgraded to a balcony. Kinda wish I had stuck with the Studio considering the weather was far too awful to use the balcony. I had been surprised that the daily solo gatherings were at Belvedere but wow, the new Lounge design doesn’t work for meetings. Looks gorgeous though. Great thorough room tour, thanks!
I liked the layout of this space for the most part. It was functionally designed, good amount of shelf space and the desk was convenient. Bed was comfortable and big enough for the solo traveler. The only thing that I didn't really like is that space for that little stool thing and how there is no space to sit on that to watch tv.
wow, that's surprising that the solo lounge is empty most of the time! i'd probably hang out there most of the time just for the snacks and drinks alone if i weren't at the pool or on the outer decks...
I would like some info on special guest artist on a cruise ships because there contacts are shorter. I've been fallowing you for around a year. I'm a musician that has never done cruise ships as a job. Stay blessed my friend.
I was in a studio cabin on both the Escape and Bliss. The bathroom is so much better on this ship. Sad that theres no Refrigerator just like there was none on Escape and Bliss. Not a major issue but i got a stomach virus on Escape and when medical gave me water i had no place to ti put it...thanks for everything you do.
I saw an article that mentioned in 2023 we would get 6 ltrs of water in the room free, but when on the Breakaway they claimed it was a promo, which is not what the article said!
Thank for showing the studio. I feel like if one doesn't stay in it this whole area will be hidden. Maybe it is diff. I saw another youtuber video a few days ago and ghat how I first learned about this ship. But her cruise drink and food were included from Iceland cruise. I also search and I saw drink, even specialist restaurants, internet and excursion will be included. Am I wrong?

I had been surprised that the daily solo gatherings were at Belvedere but wow, the new Lounge design doesn’t work for meetings. Looks gorgeous though. Great thorough room tour, thanks!
I liked the layout of this space for the most part. It was functionally designed, good amount of shelf space and the desk was convenient. Bed was comfortable and big enough for the solo traveler. The only thing that I didn't really like is that space for that little stool thing and how there is no space to sit on that to watch tv.
This is very nice room!! Love that it's separate too. Great tour!

Counting down month before solo sailing Jan 5, 2024.
1st time out of Galveston
1st time on NCL, #13577
Super helpful video! I'm subscribed
Excellent review.
Enjoyed the tour, on the inside and ocean view do you have to buy for 2 passengers or just 1? Keep up the good work and enjoy your trip.
wow, that's surprising that the solo lounge is empty most of the time! i'd probably hang out there most of the time just for the snacks and drinks alone if i weren't at the pool or on the outer decks...
I would like some info on special guest artist on a cruise ships because there contacts are shorter. I've been fallowing you for around a year. I'm a musician that has never done cruise ships as a job. Stay blessed my friend.
That's really nice! Great review!
Great video I'm looking forward to doing a solo trip and I love to cruise
I was in a studio cabin on both the Escape and Bliss.
The bathroom is so much better on this ship. Sad that theres no Refrigerator just like there was none on Escape and Bliss. Not a major issue but i got a stomach virus on Escape and when medical gave me water i had no place to ti put it...thanks for everything you do.
Will you ever do a video on Holland America or have you?
Wow I never knew this this is so cool thinking I’ll be booking one of these thanks❤
It looks like a 3 quarters bed. They use to put them in trailer homes.
I saw an article that mentioned in 2023 we would get 6 ltrs of water in the room free, but when on the Breakaway they claimed it was a promo, which is not what the article said!
Thanks for the information I’m looking to cruise on this Ship soon.
That studio lounge is HUGE
Thank for showing the studio. I feel like if one doesn't stay in it this whole area will be hidden. Maybe it is diff. I saw another youtuber video a few days ago and ghat how I first learned about this ship. But her cruise drink and food were included from Iceland cruise. I also search and I saw drink, even specialist restaurants, internet and excursion will be included. Am I wrong?
"Free at Sea" pkg. $50 off daily excursions, one Speciality dining experience, alcoholic drinks (under $15).

Nice to see them do something for single travelers. Does anyone play board games any more (especially Trivial Pursuit)?
