Splash Mountain WDW Ultimate HD Tribute

  • A massive, detailed HD edit covering every aspect of the attraction. Begin with a look at the Disneyland version and the changes made in Orlando with a comparison between the two. Next is a detailed section looking at the planning, design and layout of the Orlando version plus a good look at how the area - and Frontierland Railroad Station - looked both before and during construction.
    Take a look around the finished attraction from every area including the full queue, then walk to load for a full multi angle ride through of the whole ride from start to finish including every detail and every main show scene in full.
    After riding, wander through Splash Down photos and take a tour of the larger Railroad station and ride both into and out of the ride and station.
    Finally, take a whistlestop tour of the ride at night.
    I’m again proud of the multitrack full source stereo audio edit I’ve managed.
    Reserve over an hour for this one!

      It had charm. Now once tiana's bayou opens then the country bear jamboree, big thunder mountain, and all of that area will be at risk of a retheme (which apparently is already being considered) due to it being "out of place" with tiana's bayou.

    Now Walt Disney World and Disneyland has permanently closed Splash Mountain for good that started on January 23, 2023 and May 30, 2023.😥But for now, let's just appreciate what Disney had this log flume ride that made us feel wet, still love and created so many wonderful memories for the ride over the past 30 and a half years. May Splash Mountain shine in our hearts for years to come.😍

    Tokyo's ride soundtrack is exactly the same as WDW version, which is played in Nashville bluegrass style with banjos and guitars, where How Do You Do and Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah are sung in Japanese and Laughing Place still keeps its English lyrics.

    Splash Mountain will always have a special place in my heart. This was one of the first rides I went on that helped me let go of my fear of thrill rides. i remember going to MK in 2004 and SM being the one mountain my mom. my brother and I would go on for an hour straight until park closing. The ride is so colorful and animated, it's tough to feel sad or stressed when on it.

    *disclaimer* i talk about my opinions as well as stated facts in this comment. if you're part of the easily offended, please do not attack me for my opinions. simply respect them. thank you.
    keep splash mountain in florida, give tiana a whole LAND in circus land if that makes you happy. just don't touch this iconic, charming, fun-filled ride.
    in disneyland however, i can see it fitting in next to splash mountain (rethemed to a dark ride not a boat ride) where new orleans square is.
    90k wants the ride saved.while 20k wants it rethemed.(according to the petitions)
    look at the facts disney, if you get rid of it you'll most likely loose a majority of your fans/ customers (including me). although people argue about the ride having "racist" undertones to its backstory...i disagree. the tales of brer rabbit in the disney film, "song of the south" (1946) includes an ex-slave from after the civil war who accompanies a little boy and tells him stories and teaches him valuable life lessons through the tales of br'er rabbit.
    the film is nothing more than a man telling stories to a child, *thats it*
    on top of this, the film's based on the brer rabbit stories which were themselves based on the African folklore that slaves brought with them to america. i feel as if removing, censoring, and disregarding these stories, this ride, this film, would be an insult to the african americans who told these stories at the time, as well as those who celebrate these stories as tradition. we should keep the ride, the film, the stories ALIVE as a part of history.
    my question to the woke mob, is why would changing a disney ride make you feel better? a ride that is completely original and unproblamatic. a ride that features the same stories which uncle remus from song of the south tells to the little boy.
    *if you believe the ride is racist because of it being based off a racist film, and not because the ride has any racist undertones to it; why not try to cancel the movie and not the ride?*
    as for splash mountain, i myself think it will stay. as theres only been one piece of information and concept art about the new retheme. usually when disney announces rethemes or new large projects (ex. fantasylands add-on, tron, pandora, etc.) they provide their audience with as much information and concept art as possible. in this case, disney hasn't announced anything about the splash mountain retheme since june of last year.
    this leads me to assume that "home sweet home is the lesson today" as brer rabbit would say.i really do hope for the best with splash mountain and its retheme to be canceled. its crazy to think that nowadays everything is now racist and offensive and *has* to be canceled. thank you for reading my comment and respecting my opinions. hope you all have a "zip-a-dee-doo-dah" day! stay safe and hydrated

      Because Splash Mountain is located in Frontierland in WDW, Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear become animal desperados, and also in Tokyo Disneyland where Critter Country is themed to a western wildlife of Texas, New Mexico and Mexico as an expansion of Westernland (TDL's Frontierland equivalent due to word Frontier cannot be translated adequately according to wiki).

    In Disneyland California the BGM has a bayou like New Orleans jazz feel while in WDW has Nashville feel (bluegrass style with banjos and guitars) because the ride is in Frontierland. Burrow's Lament is the only exception.

    One mistake and unfortunately a little detailed fact that has slowly been lost over the decades. Due to a contractor mistake the top of the big drop to the splashdown down below was built slightly closer than what was supposed to have happened thus causing what should have been a 47 degree angle to be changed to a 45 degree angle. So, WDW and TDS both have a 47 degree drop whereas DL's drop is at 45 degrees. WDW's version of Splash is the smallest of all three with TDS being the largest. I can tell you from an operational standpoint the WDW load station is horribly laid out and makes it very difficult for the cast members to group the logs. Other than that I do like the backstory being more setup in the queue in WDW over DL's version, however I like the openness of space in the show scenes and the 40+ additional animatronics figures in the DL better. Overall I think DL's version is better with more to look at and the final steamboat finale scene is more impressive at DL as well

    • @puke.1393
      @puke.1393 8 лет назад +2

      Agreed.
      The open space in DL's makes it feel a lot more immersive and the additional animatronic figures make it a bit more interesting.
      It also nice to know th majority of the America Sings animatronics will be preserved on Splash Mountain and live on for generations.

    • @CrazyWharf625
      @CrazyWharf625 8 лет назад +3

      I think TDLs Splash Mountain is the best because their Brer Rabbit animatronic resembles closest to the one in the movie also the drop is taller

      @puke.1393 8 лет назад

      Crazy Wharf625
      The animatronics there have an unfair advantage over DL's, mostly made in the 70s, and WDW, which also opened earlier.

    Here’s a crazy idea: If Universal Studios is already paying Disney to keep their Spider-Man and Simpsons rides (Along with other 20th Century Fox and Sony rides), then how ‘bout this:
    Universal made a fully animated “The Adventures of Brer Rabbit” movie with an all black cast. If Disney wants to re-theme the ride, then how about re-theme it to that movie?
    That way the customers keep the same characters/story despite the makeover, and it’ll be fair if Universal and Disney pay each other for their share of each other’s properties. And also so Disney will be less likely to be seen as a greedy corporation.

    Has the "jumping" Br'er Rabbit (38:45) been put back in? When I went on it in '03, it wasn't there, and I was told it had been removed permanently. In a lot of ways, I like this Splash Mountain better than the original in Disneyland. Disneyland's doesn't have the frog telling the story, the jumping rabbit, the silhouettes of Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox chasing Br'er Rabbit, and is built too close to Haunted Mansion (which was originally supposed to be fairly isolated).

    • @granvillimus
      @granvillimus 9 лет назад +3

      The jumping Brer Rabbit figure still works. Don't know what they did to it in 2003, but it has been working pretty consistently since 2010 at least (first I visited since the 90's).

      FreedomforHaiti I think the jumping Brer Rabbit's role was substituted by the rabbit on the railcar you can see if you look up after the opossums hanging from the ceiling. Since all of the audio animatronic cast (even some brer fox models were from that show), in the Disneyland version were from the America Sings attraction. This also explains why the Brer Rabbit in this version is brown unlike the ones in the WDW and Tokyo Disneyland version. For a ride that has a soundtrack closer to the movie's, and closer themes, that's not very accurate :) XD

    Why was the WDW version changed compared to DLC? I know in DLC, Splash Mountain has Burrow's Lament before the final lift hill to the final drop, yet in WDWs version, it doesn't have it.

      Disneyland's Splash Mountain largely repurposed animatronics from America Sings, so they had a lot of extra figures to use up and fill the attraction with. When Disney World's was constructed, they required all new figures, so the number of animatronics was cut to just enough to fill the attraction without throwing them in everywhere like Disneyland's (described at 2:55). The scene before the final lift was one of the casualties.

      Burrow's Lament in WDW exists but it is only the instrumental tense orchestral music with no lyrics, just with choirs and the vultures' dialogue "Everybody's got a laughin' place? Maybe this one is yours...".

    Is it me, or am I the ONLY one to notice that in Disneyland's version of Splash Mountain
    Has Brer Rabbit's fur brown. In WDW, his fur is gray! Why did they change it? I liked the brown fur
    Because it was closer to Song of the South Brer Rabbit. Or was that the reason? SOMEONE PLEASE
    EXPLAIN!!!!

    • @Evilgidgit4Ever
      @Evilgidgit4Ever 7 лет назад +2

      One blog I read suggested that WDW's Splash Mountain really, really wanted to cut off all ties with Song of the South due to its reputation, including changing B'rer Rabbit's fur colour.

      *Happy Sharecroppers* The movie doesn’t make it that obvious, but certain actions such as Uncle Remus being able to leave the plantation shows that it takes place post Civil War.

    The only Splash Mountain located in Critter Country is Tokyo Disneyland's and Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain also has western characteristics as well as the Critter Country where the area resembles US states of Texas and New Mexico and therefore TDL's Critter Country becomes the park's margarita earth due to Texas and New Mexico are places for hunting unique recipe margaritas. The area music loops of TDL's Critter Country area and Splash Mountain queue are also using country-western aroma with banjos, fiddles and harmonicas.

      ISE D- Disneyland’s version in California is also located in Critter Country.The only one that isn’t located in Critter Country is Florida’s, which is located in Frontierland.

      Kate F Now there is the re-theming issue and I guess Princess and the Frog should only work on California because the Critter Country is themed to New Orleans bayous.

    big thunder mountain railraoad and splash mountain are frontierland mountains

    • @ised-5239
      @ised-5239 6 лет назад

      I value they are themed to Utah and Arizona respectively where Big Thunder's Mountain resembles Utah's Monument Valley and Splash Mountain's mountain resembles Piestewa Peak of Phoenix, Arizona, and this obeys both Arizona's proximity to Utah where Splash Mountain is a few meters from Big Thunder Mountain and also Arizona's capital of Phoenix had a filming history of the movie Song of the South where the majority of Song of the South's scenes were filmed at a ranch of this Arizona capital where that Arizona's ranch could be the sub-theme of plantation side of the Splash Mountain ride with the veggies after the log climbs the second ascent before reaching Slippin' Falls (the first drop), where the country instrumental of How Do You Do theme is played in, in addition to southern state of Georgia.

    The music in the Disneyland version is much better. The twangy guitar really gets tiring after awhile.

    • @propboy1halloween814

      Kram Sacul- Ok but ours here in WDW is in Frontierland instead of Critter Country, so our music fits in with Frontierland with Banjos and guitars with harmonicas. The music gives it a feel that you are in Frontierland, the land of the old west.

    • @ised-5239
      @ised-5239 6 лет назад +1

      PropBoy1 Halloween Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain also uses WDW's country western with banjos and harmonicas where Tokyo's Critter Country is rather old west themed like Hong Kong's Grizzly Gulch which is an old west themed land for antrophomorphic animals. Tokyo's Critter Country is really a sub-set of Tokyo's Frontierland counterpart titled "Westernland" but with whimsical feel and this mini land represents Texas and New Mexico instead of Northern Atlantic/Pacific forests and part bayou like California's Critter Country. Additionally some songs of TDL's Splash Mountain are sung in Japanese.

    • @ised-5239
      @ised-5239 6 лет назад

      Due to themed after Texas and New Mexico, I deem Tokyo Disneyland's Critter Country as a Margarita earth due to these US states ever become places to find best an unique Margaritas. The area music loops of Tokyo Disneyland's Critter Country also uses banjos and harmonicas which were taken from this WDW's Splash Mountain queue area.

    • @ised-5239
      @ised-5239 6 лет назад

      Additionally because Splash Mountain of WDW is located in Frontierland, in addition of the soundtracks using banjos, fiddles and harmonicas, Arizona partially capital of Phoenix can be the theming of the ride, partially the plantation scenes, where this capital had a history of filming of Song of the South's plantation scenes and the Splash Mt's building (Chick a Pin Hill), I deem it resembling Phoenix's Piestewa Peak.
