The cheering and the crowd singing after the empty boat came down had me in tears. Thank you for this video. I didn't get to ride when I was there last and give it a proper goodbye. I have a feeling they added extra water to make sure everyone got soaked.

My Daughter and I were in our last ride around 9 pm and there was a small crowd cheering for us we were so excited we said forget everything else that is what we are doing the rest of the night. We stood on that bridge with our light up parade toys waving and yelling for 3/12- 4 hours. This was one of the saddest and most amazing Disney moments I have EVER HAD. The energy was amazing and people kept coming up to us and thanking us for doing this and other people came and went cheering but we were not leaving until that last boat. Our heads were pounding we have no voices today but soso worth it! Watching all the videos online and seeing our lights on that bridge is beyond cool, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! Our Uber driver picked us up at 1:30 AM. and said what happened? Why are you so late. All we could say was “long story” SPLASH THANKS FOR ALLTHE MEMORIES!
Thank you so much for this. ❤️ I live in Canada and was there in Oct last year and got a few rides and realized it would probably be my last one, though hoped not 😔 then they announced in Dec the closing date and I couldn't get back for another visit that soon. So a million thanks for letting us die hard Disney fans feel like we were there. I saw that a couple Canadians 🇨🇦 were on the very last guest log so i love we were represented! Thank you Splashy.. goodbye old friend 🐰🐻🦊🐦❤️
Always my favorite ride at Disney. Would ride it multiple times every trip I went. My most favorite was in 05 riding it three times in a row with my two brothers and mom. There was no line so the workers let us just stay in the same boat. Seeing the fireworks over the castle from the top of splash moutain was amazing. Last ride was this past July.
I grew up with a Disney fanatic for a mom. We went well over 100x (avg 3 day stay) from the time I was 3-18. We were even at MK on 9/11. We used to always go the week after Labor Day because it would always be so slow. We’d go back and forth between Splash and Big Thunder, never a wait. And as much as I loved this ride(and now grown, know the background) I’m happy to see what they do with it. But the only thing I feel sad for…..is WDW isn’t and will never be what it used to be. My kids won’t be able to experience it the way I did.
God damn, I did not expect to get so emotional. I have so, so many memories of this ride since I was about 7 years old and was always my favorite ride during my Disney trips. I can't believe it's really gone for good.
I went to Disney World over 20 years ago when I first came to America. Splash Mountain was one of my top favorite rides of all time. To some people this might just be a ride, but for many for us it's memories.
My kids were able to get on Splash Mountain late in the evening of January 17, 2023. Not quite "last ride," but the last for us. I got their picture in front of the sign by the Stand By Entrance and we got the Photo Pass ride photo. They love the ride and we have many fond memories of it, but it's not really going away. It will be essentially the same ride, just themed to Tiana. I just hope it's not down for five years like the Railroad!
R.I.P. Splash mountain. You may be gone, but won't be forgotten. Your legacy will continue to live on through these videos, our memories, and people who experienced it. I've only been to Disney world once back in 2017 and didn't get to ride this. I deeply regret that decision.
I rode it in October of 2014 and December of 2017. I am twenty now, but I am glad I will always remember the amazing memories I had as a ten and twelve year old even only riding it twice.
Glad to be there during the final day of one of the best Disney attractions of all time! Also I could've sworn I saw Tom Corles at the exit of the attraction, too shy to say hi.
Ok not to be that guy, but hearing people cheering and singing along kind of almost made me cry. THAT'S what its all about. THAT's what imagineering should strive for. Its crazy how unifying of an experience something as seemingly silly as a few songs and a heck of a lot of robots are. This kind of imagineering, this kind go storytelling is dead until something drastically changes. But as it stands right now, this kind of magic has ran out. I can't see anyone cheering this way and singing along to anything they've made in the past decade.
Well... on the bright side, at least when they're done revamping it, it'll be Princess and the Frog themed. (I know seem like I'm making light of something that has been part of Disneyana for years, but I just like to see the best in everything; and let's face it--nobody in this generation has ever watched Song of the South. When that movie recieved backlash from the NAACP, Walt should've known it was doomed and burned the prints.)
One of my all time favorites. I remember being able to ride 4 times in a row on Father’s Day 1998. My son was so excited to ride it he squealed with delight and laughed and laughed as we got soaked head to toe. He was just turning 7 and loved water rides. Video brings it all back. Thanks for the amazing memories. Turning that corner with all of the animatronics playing gives me goosebumps.
One of my fondest memories from Childhood. I am thankful for the great memories I had because of that ride. Real shame that it’s gone. I am just glad I got to ride it with my daughter in 2019 when she was 5. What a magical moment that was. She absolutely loved that ride.
My last ride 1997, Sadly never made it back...to my favorit Attraktion at DW. Just had my son by my side watching this last ride. :((( sad he will never enjoy Splash Mountian. Thank you very much for sharing memorys with us all. Now i have to find my VHS movie Videos from our DW vacation 1993 :)))))) Hi from Berlin Germoney Mike
So sad to see this iconic attraction go away. But am equally excited to see what they do with the retheme. (As long as Disney don't do a Disney of late and cheap out on it.)
Goodbye Splash Mountain, farewell. We'll miss you and never forget you. You had a great run and gave us many happy memories. Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day in that great big laughin' place in the sky
When we know something is going away forever, we not only look around a little long humm the song a little louder but we appreciate all the memories it has gave us and we hold on to that feeling 🫶🏼 we love you splash mountain!!!
Song of the south took place after the civil war. The actor of uncle Remus, James Baskett was the first ever black actor to win an academy award. Walt was the man who made that happen. The two were great friends until the end. The movie taught people how to be nice to each other and accept people, no matter what color you are. The black cast had no issues with the movie. Splash mountain was based off the stories of Brer Rabbit. The stories were actually African American slave folk lore. These stories were told around camps when life got tough. Splash mountain showed that regardless of your skin tone, we can have courage, a laugh and an adventure. Disney has destroyed themselves. This was the last nail in the coffin. The fan boys will defend them until the end….but most of us have left. Universal studios all the way. Disney was my home. No longer. Disney officially died the day splash mountain died.
Like, I’m all for black representation and sincerely believe Tiana needed a ride. But it seems so disingenuous to close an apparently “racist” ride just after the protests of George Floyd (even though I know Disney claim the change was coming for years), and then replace it with a black princess. It really just feels like they scrambled to show that they weren’t racist. Sincerely disappointed. I’ve always found Universal to be better but this just solidifies my decision to not return to Magic Kingdom. It’s sad.
Baskett will never get enough recognition for his performance by future generations and that is sad. I was grateful that Disney gave him the role. That being said, as a Black person, a lot of us loved this ride too and didn't want to see it replaced. I was never offended by it. It was really uplifting.
We booked a last minute trip last weekend just to say goodbye to this amazing attraction! We wore our Last Chance to Splash shirts which were perfect to mark the last moments. It will be missed for sure!
this ride scared the crap out of me as a kid and i only got to ride it once. it makes me cry just thinking about a ride where the drop scared me, will be gone. goodbye splash mountain…i shall never forget you. and goodbye br’er rabbit for inspiring me and making me feel brave in bad times ;-;
I never had the chance to ride, but I spent a lot of time watching everyone come down the mountain, I’m glad that I got to see this video of the entire ride. Awesome. Thank you.
Sitting here watching this and the tears just won't stop falling! Thank you for sharing this with us. Splash Mountain has always been our family favorite and we were so sad to hear it would be changing. It was wonderful to see so many people celebrating this amazing ride and cheering on the ones that got the final splash! What a memory to hold on to! ❤
I'm definitely going to miss the original Splash Mountain‼️💦⛰️🪵 When I first went to DisneyWorld 4 years back, my family and I rode Magic Kingdom's version once during nighttime as we were there in July! I'm definitely sure that Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be amazing!
This was my absolute favourite ride whenever we went, and I’ll be sure to miss it. I remember going on it with my younger sister and her face lit up with so much joy. Thank you Splash Mountain for the memories, and as I say, it’s a bitter sweet symphony. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next Disney!
Probably not, but if you ever find yourself ever in the position to visit Tokyo Disneyland, you might be able to. (The ride will be in Japanese though) As a West Coaster, I've started to look into it. Obviously the plane tickets are much more expensive, but the PARK is much LESS expensive now, so it evens it out. Still don't know about the possibility, but it's kind of beautiful to know that a version of it still exists somewhere in the world, and that I might live to ride it again one day
We enjoyed our last splashes yesterday on the last day of the ICON SPLASH MOUNTAIN. It has been sad to see this three decade ride be so badly maintained over the past few years before it's final splash. A ride that has brought so much pleasure to so many people was , at best, a shell of it's former self on the last day. Thank you Splash for all the good memories of when you were the best Disney had to offer. Now lets call it like it is. Closing it was a big win, win for corporate Disney. They could cheaply refurbish a ride that badly needed work, while also silencing a vocal minority, including Igor, who demanded the ride be "reimagined". With the pace Disney works, how good do you think the new ride will be when it reopens in only mid 2024 ? It takes them that long to remodel a bathroom. This continues their pattern of offering less while continuing to charge more. The magic of Disney has been replaced by pure greed and profit seeking. So a final good bye old friends Rabbit, Fox, Bear, a good Splash. Thanks for all the great memories ,enjoyment, and happiness you brought to us and so many.
What would have been neat is Paintings and pictures of Country critters around the walk towards the ride Saying it was fun and we had a blast having you around thanks for the many years we had folks. -CRITTERS of the forest. Each Painting would be a different farewell from different animals. Some cry and smile and say thier own words. Come on make it memorable Disney engineers lol
Went on the ride on Saturday. Is it me or did the water level seem to be higher than normal. A lot more splashes on the little hills. We got soaked. Can’t wait for the new themed ride and maybe beignets!!!
Thanks for sharing this video Tom. I've grown up going to Disneyland but have never been to WDW. I can remember my great grandparents singing these songs when they were still around. So sad to see it go.
Deleted my previous comment because I obviously have to spell this out to the toxic haters on the internet. I don’t support the film. HOWEVER, this ride was always so much fun for me. I enjoyed it as a kid way before I even knew what it was based off of. When I realized that, did it change my outlook on Splash Mountain? Well, I don’t like the film, but it didn’t change my opinion on the ride. The animated segments were a small fraction of the entire film, so it was frankly easy for me to dissociate them from the film. The animatronics and atmosphere was always magical for me. I love Princess and the Frog very much, and I’m happy it’s going to have representation in the Disney Parks, but it won’t be the same without Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear. But hey, at least I got to experience it for myself when I visited Disney World. I’ll admit that I got a little emotional at the end of this video, knowing a part of my childhood has burned out, but it showed the affection many people had for Splash Mountain. I’m one of those people, but not because I love the film. Heavens, no, it’s severely outdated. But I adored the ride. I’ll miss seeing this trio of animals while I’m riding through the experience on the logs, but at least we’re getting a wonderful film to take its place.
As much as I loved this ride, I’m happy they closed it. Disney has been completely cheap when it comes to taking care of their attractions….they truly were not gonna give it the loved it needed without a retheme.
I am looking forward to the new overlay, but this music brings back so many memories! Thank you for sharing! Thank you for the fun times, Splash Mountain!
the vulture on the left new works. I know its the last day but i rode this ride a couple dozen times and most times it never moved, and occasionally its audio was off.
My favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom. Thanks for the beautiful tribute video. One of my fondest memories was riding this with my wife in the pouring rain and getting more wet from that than the ride itself!
we will be continuously singing this till the end at Disneyland and for years to come on youtube. Farewell WDW Splash Mountain! May your legacy live in our hearts for years to come.
I use to work there and was on the opening crew. It is the only attraction with a talking computer in the control room, if something significant would happen the computer would say it. The attraction also has one of the most complicated intrusion systems.
So, the Brer Rabbit stories around which Splash Mountain was themed were a purely African American cultural oral tradition passed down from original tales told in Africa carefully recorded by Joel Chandler Harris. Brer Rabbit was a hero for slaves and former slaves. Disney wanted to bring these stories to people. He could have done an animated film. Instead he chose to make an African American the lead character- at a time in history when that same man was prohibited from seeing the premier of the film he was in in Atlanta because he was African American. He was the first African American to win an Academy Award because of Disney's choice. Disney also hired a racist to work on the script- which is where the trouble with the film began. But Splash Mountain only contained the Brer Rabbit stories-the stories analogous to slaves using their brains to overcome oppression. Perhaps in Song of the South, Disney was using his brain to show that in real life, racism was still alive and well, but African Americans are smart enough to eventually overcome it. However, that history is too painful to remember. Now, we will have The Princess and the Frog- a movie that ignores the racism of the time in which it was set. In the segregated South, Tiana is treated as an equal. The story itself is based on a book written by a white woman that adapted a purely European fairytale. Sad in my opinion.
I wish this ride didn’t have to go! It’s a classic amongst all Disney fans! So glad I got to ride it back in October! So long Splash Mountain! We love you! I kid you not I have been bawling my eyes out for the past hour over this. I need someone to genuinely answer if it would’ve been cheaper to just create a whole new ride instead of getting rid of a classic.
I’m very grateful to have been able to ride this beautiful attraction one last time this past summer. It’s nice to see a true disney moment with everyone together cheering. Thank you Splash Mountain for being laughing splashing satis-factual fun, may you Rest In Peace!
When Houston’s beloved Six Flags Astroworld closed back in 2005, we made a point to be there on the final day and on the final ride of the Texas cyclone roller coaster. We got in line at just the right time and then let people go in front of us and timed it just right so we stepped onto the final ride. It was an amazing experience.

The Disney Company gave in to minority pressure. I for one am through with Disney.!!!!
Thank you Splashy.. goodbye old friend 🐰🐻🦊🐦❤️
thank you for capturing this. I'm very grateful for the memories and that my family and I got to enjoy this one more time September '22
So glad I get to rewatch my finale ride❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ was a pleasure riding with you guys
History has been made
I’m excited for the re theme but I’m also watching this crying 😭 Thank you for posting for those who couldn’t ride it one last time!
This just makes me sad. I'm glad there was such a show of support up to her last ride.
The world will rebuilt it on Internet games especially VR
@@CrazyManhogdisgusting
Too bad the Disney Company doesn't care!
@Sharon Matuszak of course Paramount would listen lmao but Disney is to straight and doesn't take anyone's complaints
Yep, so sad to lose one of our last proud remnants of the great tradition of slave trading.
It was an honor to be there on the night of it's permanent closure!
This feels like an end to an era.
Splash Mountain: gone but not forgotten.
I went to Disney World over 20 years ago when I first came to America. Splash Mountain was one of my top favorite rides of all time. To some people this might just be a ride, but for many for us it's memories.
This ride holds so many memories for me, you're definitely not alone.
This is my absolute favourite “Last Splash” video. The excitement and sadness are palpable.
(I cried too, Tom♥️)
I'm crying SO much :(
My kids were able to get on Splash Mountain late in the evening of January 17, 2023.
I am so glad I got to ride this twice last year. I will never forget this ride.
R.I.P. Splash mountain. You may be gone, but won't be forgotten. Your legacy will continue to live on through these videos, our memories, and people who experienced it. I've only been to Disney world once back in 2017 and didn't get to ride this. I deeply regret that decision.
For anyone lucky enough, it will live on in Tokyo Disneyland
I rode it in October of 2014 and December of 2017. I am twenty now, but I am glad I will always remember the amazing memories I had as a ten and twelve year old even only riding it twice.
I am going to miss this ride so much!!!!
Why
Thank you for this for the fans that couldn't be there on closing night!
Thanks for sharing your “Last Splash”! We enjoyed it as much as you did!!!
Well...
on the bright side, at least when they're done revamping it, it'll be Princess and the Frog themed. (I know seem like I'm making light of something that has been part of Disneyana for years, but I just like to see the best in everything; and let's face it--nobody in this generation has ever watched Song of the South. When that movie recieved backlash from the NAACP, Walt should've known it was doomed and burned the prints.)
Happy to have been on the ride with you Tom, Nick, everyone, thank you for letting us join in
It’s been erased from the website and everything, this is so surreal…
One of my all time favorites. I remember being able to ride 4 times in a row on Father’s Day 1998. My son was so excited to ride it he squealed with delight and laughed and laughed as we got soaked head to toe. He was just turning 7 and loved water rides. Video brings it all back. Thanks for the amazing memories. Turning that corner with all of the animatronics playing gives me goosebumps.
Splash mountain was one of my favorite rides, how can they take away this great classic? Rest in peace Splash mountain: 1992-2023 you will be missed.
Yes. Splash Mountain Will Definitely Be Missed
One of my fondest memories from
Childhood. I am thankful for the great memories I had because of that ride. Real shame that it’s gone. I am just glad I got to ride it with my daughter in 2019 when she was 5. What a magical moment that was. She absolutely loved that ride.
that was great! I was smiling until the end when i was crying like a baby!! Bye Splash Mountain! 😭💔❤
My last ride 1997,
Sadly never made it back...to my favorit Attraktion at DW.
Just had my son by my side watching this last ride. :(((
sad he will never enjoy Splash Mountian.
Thank you very much for sharing memorys with us all.
Now i have to find my VHS movie Videos from our DW vacation 1993 :))))))
Hi from Berlin Germoney
Mike
So sad to see this iconic attraction go away. But am equally excited to see what they do with the retheme. (As long as Disney don't do a Disney of late and cheap out on it.)
12:48 "And I'm here to stay" 😭 Will miss this amazing attraction.
Goodbye Splash Mountain, farewell. We'll miss you and never forget you. You had a great run and gave us many happy memories. Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day in that great big laughin' place in the sky
I don’t think I’ve ever been this emotional watching a RUclips video 😭😭
When we know something is going away forever, we not only look around a little long humm the song a little louder but we appreciate all the memories it has gave us and we hold on to that feeling 🫶🏼 we love you splash mountain!!!
Thanks for taking me with you!!! Lots of memories at Splash Mountain!!
Amen
Disney helped create black history and now the company is erasing it
Like, I’m all for black representation and sincerely believe Tiana needed a ride. It’s sad.
Comments like this are why the ride had to go.
Its so sad and disappointing that they are closing the classic ride for "reasons" smh.. I hate woke Disney
Thanks For Sharing This Last Ride. Awesome. 😇🥰💜☺️😀😘🥳
this ride scared the crap out of me as a kid and i only got to ride it once. it makes me cry just thinking about a ride where the drop scared me, will be gone. goodbye splash mountain…i shall never forget you. and goodbye br’er rabbit for inspiring me and making me feel brave in bad times ;-;
I never had the chance to ride, but I spent a lot of time watching everyone come down the mountain, I’m glad that I got to see this video of the entire ride. Awesome. Thank you.
I loved this ride! Goodbye old friend!
I like zip-a-dee-doo-dah!!!!
I'm Japanese, but I listen to this phrase so much that I can't help but sing it, and I love it.
What a shame. At least the ride will be alive in Tokyo for the near future.
I wonder if there was anyone riding that day who didnt know it was closing and were like "Why is the line so long"
It will be missed. Splash Mountain will live on in the hearts of the fans who rode it.
It will remain in Tokyo Disneyland tho.
@@ananonymoususer4698 they already planned on removing details from Tokyo
@@Rtp4k uh oh. Someone better record the last last ride. I hope they don't.
@@Rtp4k I thought the Oriental Land Company came out and said it was here to stay
So very sad an end of an era of a great ride! So thankful for everyone documenting this sad day. At least we can watch it again and again!!
You got me right in the feels! The video brought back great memories.
Now I'm crying. Can't believe I will never ride this again 😭
Probably not, but if you ever find yourself ever in the position to visit Tokyo Disneyland, you might be able to. (The ride will be in Japanese though)
As a West Coaster, I've started to look into it. Obviously the plane tickets are much more expensive, but the PARK is much LESS expensive now, so it evens it out. Still don't know about the possibility, but it's kind of beautiful to know that a version of it still exists somewhere in the world, and that I might live to ride it again one day
I second that “goodbye tiny bridge”
I’m gonna miss this ride. So many memories with my family back in the early-2000’s when things were good
We enjoyed our last splashes yesterday on the last day of the ICON SPLASH MOUNTAIN.
Good-bye Splash Mountain you will be missed, thanks for the entertainment you gave through my life. I wish I could rode you one last time.
Super sad to see this go away, thanks for capturing the final moments
Tiana has some very big shoes to fill. Will always remember the joy this ride brought me.
Went on the ride on Saturday. Is it me or did the water level seem to be higher than normal. A lot more splashes on the little hills. We got soaked. Can’t wait for the new themed ride and maybe beignets!!!
It was pretty high
Thanks for sharing this video Tom. I've grown up going to Disneyland but have never been to WDW. I can remember my great grandparents singing these songs when they were still around. So sad to see it go.
Wonderful cheering , Many memories for all
Deleted my previous comment because I obviously have to spell this out to the toxic haters on the internet.
I’m sooooooooo sad it’s closed!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
See you in Tokyo my friend! I didn’t know you for long but, I’m really gonna miss you!
My favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom. Thanks for the beautiful tribute video. One of my fondest memories was riding this with my wife in the pouring rain and getting more wet from that than the ride itself!
“Don’t cry because it’s over, Smile because it happened” Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah in Paradise Splash Mountain you’ll forever be our Laughing Place. 💙
That phrase is so overused.
Don’t have a good day,
Have a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day!
Man im gonna miss this ride this ride brings me joy i love it so much Rest In Peace splash mountain we will miss ya.
this ride was my childhood. now I am turning 19 in 2 months and it seems as though as I get older, my childhood fades away more.
we will be continuously singing this till the end at Disneyland and for years to come on youtube. Farewell WDW Splash Mountain! May your legacy live in our hearts for years to come.
@The Hershey Dog not yet
I bet Walt disney would be sad to see some of his planed attractions closed up. Ty so much for sharing this great memories I have of that ride.
Walt Disney didn't have a hand in this ride, it was developed by Tony Baxter
My first ride ever at Disney World was Splash Mountain at only 5 years old. Happy trails to an iconic ride. 🪵💦
I use to work there and was on the opening crew. It is the only attraction with a talking computer in the control room, if something significant would happen the computer would say it. The attraction also has one of the most complicated intrusion systems.
So happy I was able to ride it one last time in July of 2022. We are all going to miss it and have the "Br'er" spot in our hearts lol.
Thanks for the wonderful memories Splash Mountain. You were one of my family’s favorite rides over the years it never changed.
And the academy award for cinematography goes to ... Tom's zoom on Brer Bear's "tail!"
At least the one in Tokyo isn’t closing
I mean I feel like it would be cheaper because it is a theme change. They aren’t constructing a whole new ride
@the one Well duh it’s a retheme of course it’s going to be different.
You will be missed splash mountain!
