This brings tears to my eyes. Splash mountain is my favorite attraction at Disney. It has everything you’d want from a Disney ride. A fun story, a bit of thrill, animatronics and an incredibly catchy sing
Jayden Crist over a ride? This is not just a ride.. this is THE ride! This is literally the most popular and recognizable ride in Disney World magic kingdom. Believe it or not, it tops Space Mountain. Can't believe people want this ride gone.. all because of "racism" Walt Disney once said "Don't bring the outside world into my world." Disney would want to keep Splash Mountain, not for this reason.. and people are really ignoring it! Trust me when I say this.. Magic Kingdom wouldn't be the same without this ride. It'll be the biggest mistake ever.
I would give anything to ride this again! The music gives me so much Disney comfort! The best ride music other than haunted mansion ❤️ God I miss this ride so much! It breaks my heart!!!
Yeah but I doubt there going to change it much just the songs and remove brer rabbit brer fox brer bear. I think the mountain outside the ride and the rest of the animatronics will be staying I think.
The sound effect at 12:35 triggers a deep memory of being 7 years old and clinging on for dear life on that terrifying drop in the dark. Now listening at 29 yrs old makes me tear up a little realizing how larger-than-life and impactful this ride was at such an impressionable age: and knowing that it’s now gone 😢
Got emotional when listening to this soundtrack because it made me remember … October 15th 1997, I was 8 years old and my parents took me and my older sister. It was the first time I rode it and we all rode it together. And there’s a picture of the 4 of us afterwards. I can’t find it though but I know it’s there. It just kind of hit me that I’m not sure if the 4 of us will ever ride a classic Disney ride together again but I’m hoping someday we will. (Last time we all went was 2014.) It was the absolute peak of my childhood in 1997, and I was happily unaware of any bad stuff happening. It was just me, sister, mom and dad all together at Disneyworld. A way happier time in the world back then.
Interestingly, the two "themes" of the rides (WDW and DL) also contribute to the underlying ideas of the parks. The New Orleans square location DL's attraction affords a score very similar to that of the film, contributing to the more "charming, cartoon" atmosphere of Disneyland. Splash Mountain at WDW, being in Frontierland, has what you might consider a more realistic score given the location and time period of the events taking place, thus adding to the more "realistic" approach of that park.
Michael Tyree In Tokyo DL Splash's location is also Critter Country but themed to Western wildlife of Texas/New Mexico like in WDW's Frontierland's time period and the music score is WDW's with banjos and harmonicas but with some reworded lyrics to Japanese.
I was born in SoCal, but raised in south Florida. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience both parks. DIsneyland as a park and resort will always be my favorite of the two for many reasons. I could go on and on about why, but I’m going to get right to the point here. WDW’s MK Splash Mountain is probably the only example of a duplicate ride of which I actually enjoy better on the east coast. It’s been said in many of the comments, but I agree for all of the same reasons. The double seated log flumes, more elaborate and rustic feel and indoor animatronics, the Blue-grass instrumental accompaniment, the fact that it doesn’t feel as rushed, plus an extra drop gives this Splash Mountain the cake! I think this is a great example of how WDI found a way to make the second version more elaborate and appealing. In my humble opinion, the same can’t be said for more of the duplicate rides such as Pirates, Small World, and Space Mountain - those are WAY better at DL.
It's one thing to re-theme a ride that is not doing well. Splash mountain is a beloved attraction that draws it's fair share of guests. it's a real shame to see it go.

Disney replaced this ride with a ride that references the salt mines. How hypocritical, Disney! And the worst part, this ride was attraction heavy yet imagineers are lazy and hardly put any effort to making the Tiana ride magical, only 17 animatronics compared to Splash Mountain’s 68. Tokyo Disneyland is actually being smart by refusing to delete this ride, they know how big of a mistake Disney is making. When your ceo calls your ride you know you’ve got a problem. I love these songs, I get nostalgic and makes me so sad to think of that fact that I can never experience it again, well at least, not in the U.S. You can tell the people that worked on this ride put a lot of thought and love into it and wanted the fans to enjoy it. Tiana lacks any soul, heart, or hype that the original ride had, it has no story at all. It’s despicable that Disney has actually hired influencers to trash this ride and straight up attack their fans. I wouldn’t be surprised with Tiana turns out to be a massive failure. This ride will be missed by all! Magic Kingdom just feels so empty without it. Bring back Splash, Disney… before you regret it… Sincerely, every Disney Fan
@@Puzzle-Portals64 I did but there’s nothing to do. Disney doesn’t listen to their fans. They mostly focus on what’s important for them. If it does close down we need to be thankful this ride lasted long for 30 years. That’s enough for a classic ride to last. And they barely cared about maintaining the attractions and some of the animotronics started to fall apart mostly the older ones used on other extinct attractions. Also this ride received small negative feedback due to the theming of Disney’s controversial song of the south film. I hate to see this attraction go as well but you know things don’t last forever. They might have to go at some point but it is what it is. But we’ll have to wait and see.
He was also the first black man to be hired by Disney AND the first black man to receive an Oscar. How people think that's 'racist, is beyond me. It's the complete opposite of racist.
In addition, these were the stories of the slaves. To erase this would be to erase the voices of the laborers that worked so hard to preserve their culture through their stories and folktales.
@@foxiewithamoxie Absolutely. These stories are rooted in African American history and are a very important piece of their culture. To erase them would be so disrespectful to the people who suffered during those awful times.
I’ve never seen the movie, but seeing glimpses of what it includes with slavery and using black people for it in which they live in harmony with their masters is not meant to offend anyone. It’s for historical purposes. Besides, it looked like Disney was just trying to make the the point of slavery appropriate for children and not use anything too dark from real slavery. I bet the actors and actresses didn’t even complain or get offended by their roles, especially the guy who played Uncle Remus. It’s just people these days are always so quick to assume that a lot of things offend them when they’re not supposed to be taking it too literally and personally. The movie is about history and like what you guys said, culture and folktales and stories told by laborers
It makes no sense for them to replace this ride in Frontierland. In New Orleans at DisneyLand? Sure! But Frontierland...? What does The Princess and the Frog have to do with the Frontier?
If they have to replace it, do Pocahontas instead! It fits Frontierland much better than Princess and the Frog. Either do that, or dig up the old Western River Expedition concept out the vault. But of course, I would just prefer they don't change it at all.
The fact that the many passionate fans of this ride are being completely disregarded for the Twitter mob is disgusting. They can preach “change is good” all they want, but imo change should come for the stuff that doesn’t work and is unpopular. This is arguably the most popular ride in the most popular theme park in the world. It may be an uphill battle, but I’m going to make sure my voice is heard as best as I can. This is not right. Tiana should have her own ride.
But even before the protest, Disney was thinking of how to change the ride anyway. The movie the ride was based on sparked so much controversial for its racial depictions of African American slavery
I genuinely hope they back out on their decision and don't kneel to the mob, but knowing the way things are going, I'm never going to be able to ride Splash Mountain again, and this is the only place I'll be able to hear the soundtrack. This was my favorite ride at Disney for the characters, the artstyle, the aesthetic, and the soundtrack. I remember riding it multiple times in succession during my two trips to Disney. Nothing about this ride is racist. Even the claims of racism in the film, Song of the South, are dubious at best. But the mob is just going to keep (seemingly successfully) attempting to erase our history and culture. I don't think I'll be riding the Princess and the Frog ride. If they really needed one, they should've built it in New Orleans Square at Disneyland instead of destroying a classic. Hell, they shouldn't have replaced the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror with Guardians of the Galaxy, either. I don't even think I want to go back to the parks at all if this is the path they're taking.
@@ミゲル-z4k Hopefully they'll keep the one in Japan. I was looking forward to at least once go on this ride. I grew up with reading comics with these characters and I love these characters. The difference between the splash mountain music at wdw and dl is that wdw’s music has more of a southern music theme because they wanted to make the music fit the ride style and dl’s splash mountain’s music was made more to fit the area of dl it’s located in. Personally the dl version of the song is better. I suggest the person reading this comment goes and listens to the dl version of the song
Well, DSNY Newscast made a video about how it could fit in MK. How about make a New Orleans Street mini land between Adventureland and Frontierland and just build a new path for Big Thunder Mountain. And Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn Cafe can be rethemed into Tiana’s place. Now question, what does it mean for the Country Bear Jamboree? Well, keep the exit but build a wall, covering the restaurant. And build the New Orleans Street sign right next to Tiana’s Place. BAM! Good solution!

Bring back Splash, Disney… before you regret it…
Sincerely, every Disney Fan
Recently went on Splash Mountain in Tokyo.
Still the world’s best theme park ride.
Removing it from the US parts is a travesty.
Thanks for the memories Splash mountain. We'll always have the laughing place in our hearts.

@Max Mantell Yeah guess I typed too fast and misspelled

It’s interesting the Florida version had a more southern feeling than the one in California since it’s in the south.
There is a petition to save Splash Mountain, sign it, and then spread the word. You never know if it'll work or not
@@Puzzle-Portals64 I did but there’s nothing to do.
@@spacemansports4129 well lets hope a miracle will happen
Gone, but not forgotten.
Even the actor that tells the story of song of the south had recognition and now he won’t have any and he was a great actor
So many memories, I hope I can ride it one last time when I go to wdw before it closes
I wish Disney would bring this ride back
Splash Mountain is THE MOST WONDERFULL ATTRACTION!!
So long, partner!
It makes no sense for them to replace this ride in Frontierland. In New Orleans at DisneyLand? Sure! But Frontierland...? What does The Princess and the Frog have to do with the Frontier?
You’re my man.
If they have to replace it, do Pocahontas instead! It fits Frontierland much better than Princess and the Frog. Either do that, or dig up the old Western River Expedition concept out the vault. But of course, I would just prefer they don't change it at all.
@@jaydenchrist6152
True. It's set in the south, not the west. But they at least tried to make the ride fit into the land, which I think is neat.
@@x-fun3149 Even if they try it still dosent fit no matter what music they play.
Jayden Crist oh shit I just realize that
The fact that the many passionate fans of this ride are being completely disregarded for the Twitter mob is disgusting.
I checked a map of the area and there is totally space for a new ride
But even before the protest, Disney was thinking of how to change the ride anyway. The movie the ride was based on sparked so much controversial for its racial depictions of African American slavery
Who cares if it’s based on a movie, the ride isn’t racist and it should stay. You guys can sign a petition on change.org to save splash Mountain

You are right. I totally agree to your opinion.

Tower of Terror to Guardians of the Galaxy was a good decision, but re-theming Splash Mountain..... hell no!

It’s depressing to know that cancel culture finally killed splash mountain
They're going to kill everything if we keep letting them get away with it. It needs to stop, they're destroying the entertainment industry.
@@TheFoxFromSplashMountain Cancel culture is literally just the free market. It's just capitalism at work. The only way to stop cancel culture is to curb free speech, which *nobody* wants.
Also, Free speech does not gauruntee freedom from consequences.
It's not cancel culture if they do it to themselves. Disney said they've been planning a retheme for years and it was their decision, they didn't do it because of any petitions (though they probably announced it early to calm people down)
@@charliemacsart You belive that lie this retheme didnt get brought up until people started complaining about it and when the petition started.
So, basically it's okay for me to love Song of the South because of it's history, is that what you guys are saying?
2:32 The music that calms and confuses children before the drops
I can relate. I went on it as a ten and twelve year old. I loved it though, and I miss it.
10:36 That's sadly something you can't hear anymore. Disney appears to have given up on the Million Dollar Bunny around mid-2021, and they also don't play that audio clip anymore.
I never got a chance to ride it when I went to Disneyland since I was too focused on the Space Mountain and other space rides but when I watched the POV ride about it? I guess it looks fun lol.
Keep the one in magic kingdom. If they retheme it it won’t make sense in location. Plus I love the ride
How about a Pocahontas ride in MK’s Frontierland? That fits better
SuperLOLBrothers yeah that sounds better but I know they won’t do something like that
Well, DSNY Newscast made a video about how it could fit in MK.
SuperLOLBrothers that’s actually a great idea I hope they decide to do something like that
Also forgot to mention that they can relocate the ride’s entrance and just keep the area between Splash and Thunder for the MK Railroad
