Thank you for this easy recipe!! It was my first time cooking brown rice and I always thought it would be such a challenge. I boiled it for about half an hour and when the water started to disappear, I put the lid on and cooked it on slow heat for like 20 minutes (stirring a couple times so that it doesn’t burn). The rice turned out delicious and fluffy!!!! Thank you!
@@doomngloom96 water is half of the amount of flour......but if the dough is too sticky...i add more flour until the dough is not sticking to my hands...its like trial and error
Looks good, but I think lot of people a bit confused (having read their comments) how you reached to the end from the point you told us cook for half an hour (& you’re good to go….!!) but do you after boiling the rice at, say high temp for the first 15mins and then turn it down to low heat for another 15mins??? (And…. not to drain any water out & keep the lid on until the end?) I think you’ve cut out the bit that is important of cooking a fluffy rice hence lot of people asking similar questions.,..
The method is cooking the rice exactly like you would pasta…. No simmering no measuring water to rice ratios and covering and simmering…. Just filling a large pot with water bringing it to a boil and adding your brown rice… check after a half hour if it’s cooked drain your rice… if it’s still a bit tough cook longer until tender.
@@RosePigCooking Sounds a bit scary for me (mostly because I've always used the ratio & simmering methods) but I will give your recommendation a try since you sound so confident. Thank you!
Thanks for asking this question. I felt I was missing something too between pouring the rice in a pot full of water and nice and fluffy rice. Now I know what happened in between
Thank you so much❤ I’ve never had someone teach me how to really make food in general so I’m starting with the basics, so thank you for this quick and easy video on how to make brown rice😊
I am insulin resistant and normally dread eating brown rice. This way of cooking it may have saved me, it is way better than following instructions on the bag or even cooking it in my rice cooker. Now I can finally eat brown rice without being miserable! Thank you! 😊
Thank you. 👍 This brown rice did not need to be soaked? We ( 🇵🇰 Pakistan) usually, soak brown rice in warm water for an hour or so. It helps increase the size of the grain. However, it come out cooked in a pearly form. Seasoning can be added along with the salt. I'll try your recipe and get that "perfectly cooked" brown rice! 😋
I'm definitely trying this tomorrow. I'm good with always making white rice, but brown rice intimidated me even though I know it's healthier. Can't wait to switch to brown rice and try this method. Thanks!
Try the "fry it before you boil it" method?! AFTER rinsing rice off, fry in a tbsp of oil for 4-5 mins, stirring frequently. [This shifts the outer shell FOR Fried rice, brown / white / jasmine / basmatti rice. 1:1 ratio with ¼ of extra for condensation no matter the # of cups of rice, that ¼ IS *"the extra compensated / condensation water"*] After 5 mins dump your measured water in and boil 10 mins. Keep covered & remove from burner / heat. Rest 5-10 mins BEFORE removing the lid to fluff. When pulling lid away- lift swiftly & tilt the lid so the water will run out of the pan/skillet. (Not back into your pot / skillet to create extra moisture.) Rest to hit room temp before storing in fridge / freezing.
My boyfriend cooks it like pasta and my mind was baffled when he said that is how me cooks brown rice. It's such an odd concept for me but well see how it turns out.😂
Perfectly cooked is the tenderness you desire… there is no ratio I clearly state to cook the brown rice as if you were cooking pasta… that’s what makes this method so easy
The amount of water almost doesn’t matter. He didn’t mention in the video that you drain all the excess water out after 30mins (just like how you pour all the water out after cooking pasta).

Yes I’ve heard of that method before… delicious 😋
use pot to wash it with some hand pressure. 3 times
Good tip 👍
how much water to one cup of brown rice ?
Cook the rice as if you were cooking pasta… don’t worry about specific measurements
Your recipe is great. 😊
Thanks so much 👍
You didn’t mention how high the heat was
Bring to a boil… then down to medium
Do you keep the water at a boil once you add the rice or put on medium / simmer?
Put on medium
Brooo lmao
Asians be like : just buy a. Rice cooker 😂
😎
But wait… how much water do you put in for a cup of rice?
Don’t worry about measuring the water… cook the rice as if you were cooking pasta
My guy add 1 galón of water like noting
😎
Uncle Roger would not approve.
Sure he would
Why should he??
Rice traditionally was never cooked in cookers
Which degree temperature do I put it on for it to cook
Medium high
Best way is steam.
After you cook it and after you drain it do you put it back in the pan and put a lid on it or anything else?
I add it back to the pan with some butter and put on a lid to keep it warm
I am confused - you drain extra water off at some point if you don't measure?
Cook the rice as if you were cooking pasta… no need to measure the water
Yes! You drain the ride after 30 if you’re happy with the texture
😀@@KiarashadeW
Bro do you turn the heat down when you throw the rice in or leave it high?
Medium high
We should keep it on high heat for 30 min?
Medium high… until it’s tender
@@RosePigCooking thanks!!
Bring water to a boil, stir, then cover, turn heat down to a simmer.
Do I need to stir it occasionally? Do I need to spray the pan so it won't stick?
No don’t spray the pan… I stir the rice after first putting it in the water… cook it just like you would pasta
Finally got it right from you!!!!!
😀
Okay. Now how do you cook pasta?
😳
Cook it like brown rice, of course!
How much water ..
Cover the rice as if you were cooking pasta… don’t worry about exact measurements
Alright... I'm trying it tonight
😎

How many servings does 1 cup of rice make?
About 4
Thank you
Thanks for watching
Damn. This worked great!
Yea it does!!!!
u tried it?
How many cups of water to add?
The measurements do not matter… just make sure the rice is completely covered as if you were cooking pasta
So no or butter to put in the rice ?
After it’s cooked
Do you keep the pot boiling all the way through ?
Yes
I make all kinds of rice this way barring red rice that take a long time to cook. This takes just 30. Cool. Is this rice with or without husk
Very nice!!!! It’s without husk
So much water in the pot I assume you drained it before you served it, or did it all actually evaporate
Strained it just like you would pasta… this is what makes the cooking process so easy… so need to try and precisely measure
So the amount of water is irrelevant?
Yes
Yea how much water???
No need to measure… cook just like pasta
Why is it not sweet
What a weird explanation. All that water, no measurement, high heat or low? Do you sieve it or does it soak in all that water?
Cook it just like pasta
You neither told what is “perfectly cooked” nor the ratio so technically nothing helpful
Perfectly cooked is the tenderness you desire… there is no ratio I clearly state to cook the brown rice as if you were cooking pasta… that’s what makes this method so easy
BRO IS THERE A FASTER WAY MY ASIAN PARENTS ARE COMING AND I FORGOT TO COOK IT
😦
Well here goes nothing wish me luck.😮
Let me know 😊
How much water
Fill the pot as if you were cooking pasta
So u drained it too. Cause I drain pasta so...
Yes just like cooking pasta 👍
What heat setting are you on?
Medium high for ten minutes… down to medium low until finished cooking
Do you drain the water?
Yes… just like pasta
I soak brown rice for about 30 mins then cook.
Soaking it helps for sure
Boy what lmao like pasta?
Do you drain it?
Yes
Where did the water go
Drained it as if I was cooking pasta
Do I have to wait for the water to boil first?
Yes let the water boil and then add the rice
@@RosePigCooking ok thank you!
Is this cooked on low temperature?
Boiled…. Just like you would pasta
Does two cups change the time?
Yes if you are cooking less rice
I need to know for two cp keep the heat up high for a 1/2 hr as well? some one let me know,?❤
What is that ? Salt ?
Methamphetamine
Eww
Rice is perfectly fine cooked stovetop lol just gotta time it right
I’m going to try this

Water evaporated in 30 minutes? 😮
The idea is to cook the rice as if you were cooking pasta… this way the amount of water doesn’t matter really

Rice cookers usually take longer than stovetop and not everyone has one
It doesn’t mention how much water to use per cup of rice. Or did I miss this?
Cook the rice as if you were cooking pasta…. I used about 4 quarts of water for 1 cup brown rice
@@RosePigCooking u clearly stated that
4 QUARTS????
Like pasta. Around 12 cups
The amount of water almost doesn’t matter. He didn’t mention in the video that you drain all the excess water out after 30mins (just like how you pour all the water out after cooking pasta).
you never said how much water you put
As much water like you were cooking pasta…. Just cook and strain

Gonna be perfect 👍
WTF IS THIS
Nah fam this ain’t it 😭
Awful video
Soggy 😩
Undercooked

Looks very mushy and wastes water.
Do I leave the stove until the water evaporates or just cook it for 30 minutes
Just cook it until the rice is tender
