I do my best to always speak about things I know. What I know about you Sir, is that you are a genius. All this f$%#g Time I've wasted cooking rice the wrong way. It was all worth today though; 1st time ever making perfect rice! I'm glad I lived long enough to witness it. Thank you for the help.
Don't thank me, thank Horace Kephart, author of Camping and Woodcraft - an American classic detailing early life in the woods. I learned this by reading his book. The old generations knew much, and we have forgotten much. Thank you for watching.
@@Meattrapper Sounds like an interesting read. I'll look it up.

@@Meattrapper thank you sir for number of things, first for sharing your knowledge, second for giving credit to those who deserve it, third for showing me how to make purrrrfect rice
👍✌️👌🙏🤜🤛
thank you so much, I've tried it every other way I've seen on RUclips and yours is the only way that actually worked, great rice every single time.
thank you again
I just purchased that brown rice you suggested off of Amazon and can't wait to try your method. I'll get back to you with the results as soon as I give it a go. Thanks for your tip, Meat Trapper!
The learning video was definitely 'a value'. Rice the easy way. Comparable to spaghetti. Watched about 5 times & now it's muscle memory. I am thankful for this technique.
After all videos I seen, this method seems simple and it makes sense, thank you
This was really very easy and practical way to cook brown rice. Thank you for this video
Came out good.
PS: Added a pinch of salt and coconut oil
Thank you ....was hoping for a seasoning suggestion.
Finally I found the perfect way... Thank you very very much
I tried just today and it came out perfect! Thank you👌❤️
Instead of draining the water off, one could use it as stock or boil other vegs in it... Just try to reuse it.
Boil vegetables and use the same water to cook rice with...etc etc
Happy cooking
excellent method, i just tried it and love my results.
Excellent presentation... I will use this method when cooking brown rice..
best rice I've ever made. good job
Cool glad it was useful!
Thank you. Worked great for me. This is by far the best way of cooking my rice.
Great to hear! Glad you liked it!
The best instructions and my rice came out just right! Thank you!
Just set my rice in and set it at a steady boil. Hope it comes out well. I’m glad you got a bare bones recipe. Simple instructions, no bs. Water and rice, that’s it. I’m not looking to be master chef I just want recipes for nutritious food that I can consistently cook
Thank you! I have one of these rice cookers and it really only makes porridge :(. Gonna try your way tomorrow.
thank you so much buddy, I've thrown out a whole pot of my brown rice because it came out bad. this is real simple.
This is the only way I cook brown rice now!!👍. Thank you!!
I make my rice like this every time. Every time perfect brown rice. Thanks

After trying many, many methods & recipes I finally found your method. 10 minutes ago I finished a fried rice dinner and the rice really was perfect!!! Chicka-BOOM, thank you. By the way, I used regular brown rice---not the parboiled type.
Glad to hear it worked! Bon apetit!

Thanks. Works every time.
👍👍👍 thank you for sharing your perfect receipt for brown rice 🌾
I’m trying this right now! My husband is Hispanic and if I don’t cook rice well then I’m not a very good wife to him in the cooking department! Ppppllleeaaase let this turn out well🙏. I’ve tried the other methods and I always come out with either mushy or hard rice 😡.
I will edit this after it’s done!
After: it made perfect rice!!!!!!!!??? Why have we been doing it the other way!? I even walked away with the fire too high and a few mins before it was done and it had dried up(did not burn). I just added more water, brought to a boil and then drained and steamed and it is PERFECT! 🎉
Excellent video!!! Thanks!!!
I tell everyone this method now !! Thanks bro !!! 💯💯💯
Excellent cook sir hope to see more videos of your out door cooking 👍
I have never had a problem cooking brown rice this way
Keep the plant consumption high. Great video bro!
Great video thank you
Great.Thanx
Thanks bud I will keep your video
Perfect! I tried it. Thank you.
funny thing, that's how i cook white rice as well because i like my rice very fluffy, each grain separated. they way, you can also use the newly cooked rice ti fry rice without waiting till the next day.
Looks like the water was steaming, did you heat the water b/4 putting in the rice? Great vid.
Thank you good sir !
Thank you!
thank you so much sir for your video
but the size of the rice is still small after cooking .....why ?
Thank you.
GOD BLESS YOU FOR KEEPING IT SIMPLE!!!
Thank you, no more dry uncooked brown rice for me I guess. i will do that in my breakfast tommorow.
you made my life easy bro.... cheers
Glad it was useful!
brotha! thank you!
It looks so good 🥰
Life saver, thank you
Thx. But when do u salt it?
Currently making brown rice with this method. I’ll give you an update later.
Ok new update
Stop everything your doing and do it this WAY!!!!! Thank you sir!
Do you think there are high levels of arsenic in brown rice?
great video, perfect rice indeed. Embarrassed to say that I used to make what must be the worst rice in the world (my husky didn't even want it..and she ate with gusto pretty much anything that wasn't made of wood or metal, including shoes,sofa,etc...). But...how on earth do 75 people thumb down this video?? ...I don't get it.
Rafal Luszcz lol, people will downvote anything. Take care of that husky! They are great dogs!
ill try this with wild rice and quinoa blend
Is this the same for short grain brown rice please?
Nicely done!
Thank you sir!
Well done Tim!
Thanks buddy. Rice is kind of a boring topic, but this is a way that I can make a good tasting side dish when in the woods and get away from MRE's and freeze dried stuff.
Does brown rice have the same stickiness issue that white rice has? Do you rinse your rice first?
thanks
YEAH,....THAT;S HOW TO DO IT.......GOOD VIDEO....THANX....GONNA DO SOME SOON....
THIS IS DUMB, AND BY THIS, I MEAN ME!! HOW HAVE I MISSED THIS METHOD 😍😍😍😍
this is why i subscribed
Simply directions. Thanks. Keep it simple.
All these other videos have to running in circles.
What grain are you cooking?
I'm just going too try it you have great reviews
Try it - you'll like it!
+The Meat Trapper u dnt had anything to it while bowling like salt maggi etc..
its that easy aye nice rice
Amen to no more crunchy brown rice! Cheers
How do you spell the name of the rice? Thank you for sharing. Blessings🙏
I want to add oil and spices, possible? when?
This is the spaghetti method, if you will. I think you might lose some nutrients when you pour away the extra water, compared with the method with more or less the exact quantity of cooking water. Of course, you might burn the rice in the end if you leave unattended or have the fire too strong. pros and cons!
Booooooom it worked your the man 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Awesome.... thank you! 👍
Jeannette Roca Thank you for watching! Hope it is useful!
Yo! just came here to say that this method works for me the best, I also add a bit of olive oil and some pepper.
Thanks for the method!
this method was great I added spices, olive oil and butter was the greatest. If arsenic concerns you wash your rice first. Leave people alone about their cooking and do it yo way,
trying right now after failing the packet instructions last night.. its boiling at 2/3 of max heat atm hopefully its high enough
came out a tiny bit hard still but i was hungry so ate it anyway lol, do i just boil a bit higher for softer rice?
thanks for vid btw
Can you do this with any rice
Thanks for all of your videos, I enjoy them very much. I tried your method of rice cooking, it worked great with long grain brown Basmati rice, however I normally cook two cups of rice at a time, do I need to adjust water more or boiling time for a two cup rice meal ? Thanks again and have a good trapping season!
frank davis The more rice you cook the more water you'll need. You have to have enough water to last 30 minutes of cooking time without boiling dry. I normally use a 4 to 1 ratio of water to rice to keep it simple. Also a nice simmering boil is fine, no need fir a furious boil. I like this methid because its simple enough to use in the woods. Hope this helps.
frank davis Also, in the woods in cold weather after the boil you can wrap pot in a sleeping bag or towel to insulate it and keep it steaming.
You really need to wash rice a few times before you cook it to get most of the arsenic out. that foam on top of the water as it cooks shows it should have been washed first. that foam is full of arsenic. rinse the lid off after using it for pouring the water out because that foam will have stuck to the lid and you end up putting it right back into the rice.
it also washes off a lot of the vitamins and nutrients that are good for you. the amount of arsenic is minimal

If you're worried about the levels of arsenic in brown rice, just eat white rice, or potatoes, or beans, for that matter. Jeez.
The amount of arsenic in rice is so minimal it's pretty much non existent
I admit that I was skeptical, but your method worked wonderfully. I did leave the lid on the pot during the 30 minute boiling period to help keep the heat inside while using a low heat setting. To each his own. Anyway, thanks so much for the upload!
Excelente!
Thank you for your video. Do you not keep a lid on whilst boiling the rice. Once again thank you.
No lid, just a low boil.
Thank you
superb
This method is OK for black rice???
Am from India and l like your channel your contant
I gave this video a thumbs up just because his name is meat trapper
Trying this right now! Gonna mix my rice with a can of Campbell's vegetable beef soup, I will edit this comment with results (if I remember to lol)
Edit: Dinner turned out great! Even added extra corn and green beans! Rice was a tad undercooked but that's all on me being impatient lol. Thanks a ton!
It worked soo good I'm never do I get it nylon other way
Great to hear!
Hello there, when you let it sit for 10mins, did you put the fire on?
remove from the heat and let sit.
What state do you live in? I live in Texas and every time i go to Louisiana their rice is crunchy, as if it was not cooked all the way. I just want to know if its crunchy rice or soft.
Eat My Nan I'm in Alabama. This method makes a "chewy" but not crunchy rice.
"stame" that rice
perfect....
Please write the name of the rice
Thanks
How does this compare to instant brown rice or boil in bag 10 minute rice?
In my opinion, there is no comparison. This tastes far better to me. Just give it a try one time and I think you'll be sold. Thanks for watching!
There is no salt or oil or spices??
Awesome method-- works great except that the bottom half is always wet and mushy... any suggestions?
Maybe try making less rice or using a bigger pot
thnku mama
No salt?
Thanks for sharing your great method sir!
No problem. Glad it was helpful!
