- I think this is the last time I'm going to remaster this song, I've done it a few times, a lot more privately, and I'm tired of it. Truth is, this song doesn't really exist in the best quality anywhere. I mean it sounds clear, but it always sounds flat. But maybe that's me not understanding audio. The demo sounds alright, but that's the demo, and yet again, it sounds flat. I believe the mix used in the film either has more instruments or was simply just mixed better, given what I have, I can't make it sound like it does in the movie unfortuantely.
Something interesting about this though is that this version does not come from the cassette rip found on OrangeCow, this is an mp3 file I found on an archived fan website. I have no idea where the audio comes from, and my only guess is that it's from Night Flight. Though if it is, I'm surprised that there is no VJ talking over it neither at the beginning or the end.
Given the way the original source sounds though, it sounds a lot like a VHS recording rather than an audio cassette, though that may be a placebo effect and in reality, they may sound the same. In the end, I have no idea where it came from. But this is probably the best copy out there of the final version of Angel's Song.

I love Deborah Harry's voice! She was so good as Angel's singing voice and this is a great cut of the song. It sounds so crisp.

If the finale song gets a clean cut like this, that'll really be the day. An album-worthy restoration of a soundtrack previously thought lost to time.
I can't wait for this movie to gain more attention, because I'm sure someone's gonna make a cover and instrumental of it and it will be glorious.
Debbie Harry already recorded a cover, with reworked lyrics called Maybe, For Sure.

I'd like in general to have again more animated movies that are actually quite serious but still have their fair number of singing moments. With original songs, I mean
They truly just need to remaster what there is now, I fear with a remake they'll muck it up like everything else they try to redo now a days 😢

I remember watching an old Nickelodeon series called Stand by Lights Camera Atcion, hosted by Lenard Nemoy. One episode covered this film. Couple years later saw the film on cable... OMG! This movie DESERVES a decent 4k remaster!!!
The music is awesomeness the story great, and imo it's right up there with the Heavy Metal film!

This song is what made me fall in love with the movie.
Ive always loved this song from ' Rock & Rule " , some may notice the similarity in melody to her song " Maybe For Sure " from her solo record "Def , Dumb & Blonde "
It’s a “sequel song”
She said that the melody enchanted her so much that she wanted to use it in her own music. Interestingly enough, apparently 'Heart of Glass' is the song she claims was inspired by Angel's song.
This is, in my opinion, the best soundtrack I've heard for Rock and Rule!

VHS back in the day we’re actually used as cheaper reel to reel tape machines. The studio must’ve had one and someone decided to make a copy for a friend. It’s just a theory but it’s The most likely scenario since how good it sounds. If someone can steal all the Nagra (The get back/let it be recordings) reels from the Beatles then it’s possible that someday higher quality recordings of ‘my name is Mok’ and ‘send love through’ could come to light with some encouragement.
I bookmarked this little bugger. I'm working on a Synth V version and I have 75% of Angel's vocals down, 50% of all vocals if we include that bastard Omar singing over her.

You should listen to the demo of "You Never Learn" by Comsat Angels. That sounds worse than this, and yet they released it. Sometimes okay is better than absolutely nothing.

I think you did a great job!!
I feel like her voice is over-powering the instrumentals. there are even certain parts where she does not let the instruments breathe/shine as they did in the other RUclips video. Her voice is indeed clear and I like that but the instruments are lacking and the pacing of it feels off. For example, towards the ending around 3:52, right after she says "Alright", the instruments that come after it go crazy(one of my favorite parts of the song) HOWEVER, theres supposed to be a bit of breathing room to allow the buildup for the other instruments to come through. Even the way it ends is wierd, the Drums banging should be what we hear right before that bit reaches its climax, but in this version the electric guitar does that job and it doesn't feel right.
Her voice being overpowering was something I tried to remedy, however I couldn't figure out how to do it correctly. I'm not sure what version of the song this is, it's origin is in deep mystery. Unfortunately, this is the closest we have to the final version that isn't just straight from the film. The demo has better pacing (and is longer) however its missing quite a few instruments. Maybe one day I'll see if I can combine versions together?
It's mono because of that it won't sound good like in the movie, as its real stereo in the movie version.
Yes I do think I remember this version being in mono. I was recently shown a new stereo version recently but it's missing the introduction, so currently this is all we have still other than the demo.
