You know, one of the best things about being in my 50's now is that I lived my teenage years in the 80's..........Priceless and I wouldn't change them for the world
I was lucky. This show came out when I was in my mid-twenties, a magical age to be alive and to experience Miami Vice. Now, in my late 50s, life is mostly about shoring up finances for retirement and health issues, believe it or not. When I watch a simple Miami Vice video like this, it reminds that I've forgotten what life is really about and that there are endless possibilities to make one's life truly special. Maybe I'm just being way too nostalgic but the fact that this show and its music can evoke such strong emotions is a powerful testament to this show.
Hey desertjedi, Be happy you had a life like that. Im exactly in the mid of my 20s right now (25yo) and im already at the state you are. I strongly agree with your statement about videos and music especially like this, it sometimes can evoke really strong forgotten feelings of what life is really about. You travel back in time to your younger age and can have the same view on the world as you had back then for a brief moment, but it often vanishes out of my mind after a few days in my everyday life
The 80s was such a great time to be young (20s) alive, and so many opportunities which we missed. And the early 80s, no bloody mobile phones and internet. God I miss those days
Amazing how 4 decades + has gone past, since this place in time. Most all of us were young and good looking. Some still keep their looks, etc. But we can't stay 'forever young.'
Well, scientists say that if you love a song, especially if it gives you the chills, your brain releases Dopamine, which makes you feel good. I play the same songs over and over, and I see many people do that too.
Now we have guys looking like girls, girls skinny like skeletons or fat like...., cars with no character, clothes really rubbish, music....even no comments, no guys with the balls, hair rarely brash...

I would pay to go back to the 80's when I was in my young teens. I loved watching Miami Vice! 36+ years later I'm a grandfather, crazy how time flies!!
well look at positibe side, lucky your alive! and can witness all these times. Young people go RIP....So enjoy your journey to witness a bit of everything :) Ofcourse theres such thing as nostalgia plus lets not forget its feels times were so much better because of age and when life felt like some magic. Now we have much more advanced health systems etc, its not that bad, its that we age and grow up with life problems and what ends up is nostalgia of no problems and viewing world as magic place :) Even I fall for this nostalgia trip and I was born in late 80s LOL, and im trippin over something that was behind when i was 1 years old lol. But yeah miami vice, baywatch, even beverly hills lol, but whats most depressing is todays music, and not switching all the way back to 80s, but until early 2000s, so many genres, one hit wonders, rock, metal, pop, whatever, bringing oldschool back, techno, you name it. Now its just sad where music went..2 genres maybe..
Things are about to get better. Jesus weakened our enemies through COVID. Our enemies fight each other while we get our destiny and purpose restored. Our banking industry, technology, inventions, agriculture, and Democracy is about to be restored through Jesus Christ. God blesses those who bless us and curses those who curse us. Genesis 12.
The show and time period reminds me of my father, born in 1953 who was in his prime in 1985! As a 13 year we'd watch the show together and I'd worship the ground he walked on. Now gone from ALS 10 years ago its videos like these that remind of the fun times we shared soo many years ago when the world was simple and family was everything.
The Boomer generation totally understands, born 1946 to 1964. I was born in 1962. We all were in our 20s and 30s during this time. Great music and movies.
First time i've heard this song for over 30 years when it was on tv in 86/87 .. a time when i used to watch every episode with fail and hearing this song out of the blue has caused overwhelming emotion within me and i am reduced to tears... anyone else feeling this?
Me too...I have all episodes on DVD lucky enough...the 80's and 90's are sacred...it will never come again this quality. The cast should be on an altar in a church...
In my youth I grew up with MIAMI VICE, now I´m 53 years old. It was a great Serie and I saw it often. This was/is my favourite song. .... Crockett and Tubbs.... All the best from Germany, stay healthy in this COVID19 times. 🖤🧡💛
True that. I'd be around 18 or so. RATT N ROLL. What is crazy as hell is watch Miami vice on a phone of all things. I also would like to own a bren 10.....

I was born in 73 myself and I still watch this show today....my wife was fixing dinner the other night and said hey want to watch miami vice and said but of course
Don Johnson. Philipp Michael Thomas und Edward James Olmos waren schon die coolsten unter der Sonne Miamis, eine richtig tolle 80er Serie mit vielen weiteren tollen auch GastschauspielerInnen, awesome and amazing too !!!!!! I love this ... ❤❤❤😮😊😊😊
I am of the Boomer generation born between 1946 and 1964 .. (1962.) We were the young ones in the 80s... Our 20s and 30s... Great music and movies. Happy to see people like stuff from our era.
I wasn’t allowed to watch this show as a kid. I used to sit up the stairs and listen to the music. This was always my favourite. Taught myself to play it on the keyboard… the 80s. What a decade!
I was in high school and college when this show was at its peak. I loved every episode and the writing was phenomenal. I will be 54 this year and the nostalgia is tangible and bitter sweet.
But those times live in your heart, don't miss that, is eternal. I feel like you, i was a teen in 80's and i know that is nothing like those ears so my playlist of music is always the best.
Since it's release, it was destined to be success, and it's amazing how much of a legacy Miami Vice truly has, and the amount of influence it's given, espically with this iconic theme, "Crockett's Theme", Time flies, but this never gets old, what an era.
I was born in 1991. While my friends and acquaintances watch Game of Thornes, I check out all the old MIami Vice episodes. What glorious music. The style and coolness of the 80s are simply unmatched. Regards from Germany
Glad you appreciate it. I got to spend my late teens and early 20's in the 80's and I have to say I'm blessed that I could. was the best era in my opinion.
I'm born in 1990, abt 25 years too late for the party. Let's push rewind and go back, without our friends who doesn't appreciate and understand the greatness of the era. Liebe Grüße from Sweden.
Miami Vice 1984-1988. Best time to be in high school. Don Johnson, every woman wanted him. Every man wanted to be him!! Greatest cop show ever, that's why I became one.
Sept 2024, Im 51 yrs young and my head is still in the eighties, I must be romantisising this decade because no other decade has ever got near, even in bleak times bac then there was joy, now there is very little we have caged ourselves with freedom! and its all but done. When I hear tunes like this I recall hope.
Fast, exotic cars, beautiful women, Cigarette boats, beautiful locations, two guys who dripped COOL, beautiful beachfront houses, great characters, great contemporary storylines, action, beautiful music; Miami Vice had it ALL!
I was born in 77 and was able to see some of the 80s. Wish I was older but I saw enough to love it. My mother passed away June 6th of 2020 and my nostalgia has kicked into over drive. The day she passed, I talked with her for an hour and I asked her if she remembered what my favorite movie was, she said of course, Goonies. A few hours later she was gone. I have watched so much RUclips of commercials and anything related to 80s. Halloween, Christmas and just 80s in general. Its sickening to know how bad the US and the world has gotten over the last few years that all the strides we all have made to make our lives better has just went to waste.
USA has a great future. There's great things happening that isn't reported in the news. Condolences on your Mom. Nostalgia is making a comeback, you will see. America will be better than ever before. As the covenant promise land, our brands, and flavors, music, technology, science and art is protected under the Covenant with God through Jesus Christ. Anyone who tries to steal our property and money will be cursed. Genesis 12. Matthew 12:43-44

oh man ,what I would do to be back in that decade....best decade of my life ever. the music was awesome, movies and series were fantastic. Maybe in todays standards they were not, but back then, when there was no internet, this was the shit. Technology was moving pretty fast and we saw many new things being introduced. VCR, Compact discs, we had the Sony Sports Walkman...so much fun stuff.. Sad to see how the world has changed into the shithole it is now and people born after the eighties will never know what an epic decade will look like. And that the eighties are appreciated nowadays, is very clear, as many people try to get relics from the era and pay high amounts for them. Thank full that I was there. To all you eighties freaks out there, we had fun!
I was born in '72 also... the 80s were God damned fucking magic. Think of the nonstop movie classics that were being produced year after year. Too many to name. TV shows were just f'ing fun and entertaining and plenty with a touch of the bizarre, off-the-wall vibe to 'em that just worked. And 80s music... man, it just didn't stop. It was such a fun, feel good era with no shame about it and Miami Vice really just splattered that 80s good vibe with near abandon.
@@maboleth internet....look at todays world...where at first internet brought us knowledge and good stuff, it now over informs us and all of a sudden we are al experts behind our keyboards. without the internet, that simple life is still around the corner.
I’m one who was really watching Miami Vice every Friday night and now my oldest daughter is 33 and watch the shows , she has even said it was the best of the 80’s on TV , she loves everything of the 80’s
That's heartwarming, just as well that she hadn't left school in the UK during the 80's and tried to find work or had a young family to feed, fail to see what any uk citizens can take from the 80's in a positive way, it was fucking grim because of one evil woman.

yeah! me i would be in my early 20's yup time flies my friend, this was a great series, glamour and sunshine, and always great tunes ..........ah happy days
Might need to take off the rose tinted specs. In the 80's Miami was a warzone, the drug war was at its peak, and vicious turf wars were fought. You might also want to read about operation cyclone, and Reagans involvement in that.
@@whoanelly737-8 Fair enough, and good for you fella. But plenty of bad things happened in the 80's. Miami was an absolute mess, and a much more dangerous place than today. Seen as we're commenting on a video about Miami vice, i think its important to point that out.
Miami Vice, Magnum PI both great showing men as well, men. The 80's were great I miss them , since that time its been a steady decline I wish it was 1985 again really bad.
If you call a fall off a cliff a steady decline . Bad ideas take off quick. This is what happens when we worship false idols...ie kissing celebrity bum.
This show...the entire cast..the musical score... just magical..this is what one calls the culmination of superb talent coming together..the entire cast and crew..the entire production and direction teams..the music maker's...down to the last extra.... simply and absolutely superb.. thanks for sharing...!!
I said this in another comment already but on the DVD they have a behind the scenes where they talk about EVERYTHING being choreographed, even the colours the extras were wearing! They said it was like making a movie a week!
I wonder if the series of Miami Vice really realize what an impact it has put onto our lives. I swear Crockett is so nice to look at and Tubbs is no slouch either. I sure miss those Friday nights ❤️
Growing up as a teen in the mid 80s and faithfully watching Miami Vice…it’s perfect mix of action, music, color, acting, cars, clothes etc, I remember thinking being in my 40s and 50s was an eternity away. I was blissfully happy as a teen. Now in my early 50s thinking back to when I was a teen feels like yesterday. I’m not one to recollect or wish to relive my past but DAMN I miss the 80s. No internet, no social media, no smart phones, no political correctness, no touch screens, no over complicated electric vehicles, no weird pronouns, only land lines, friends, the great outdoors, sunshine, family, analog gauges, true exotic cars with pop up headlights, great music and Miami Vice.
And bikes !! I'm 47, I just can't believe we considered old now, it does feels like yesterday growing up in the 80's & 90's , we're just passengers on this earth bro !! I can't believe it
I'm right beside you. I want to open a micro hotel with 80's themed rooms. Old TV's, old phones, old kids sheets, everything. Themed rooms, Miami Vice, Saturday Morning, Playroom, etc.
Was 20 in the 80s. Man. Best time of my life. Good music. Good TV shows. Struggling and just surviving to make ends meet. Now (Apr 2023) life is AOK. Thank heavens!! Haha...
I owned a 1984 dark blue Corvette back then, and my wife and I enjoyed driving down the main drag of Daytona at night playing “In the Air Tonight,” by Phil Collins. Those were the days!
I can still remember watching this show after being introduced to it by a good friend of mine called Kevin (such an 80s name). Crocket and Tubbs were the coolest duo of the 80s. The look, sound, dialogue and subject matter summed up the 1980s perfectly. Miami Vice was a hugely successful and influential TV show that would go on to be mimicked by other TV shows as well as films. Don Johnson was cooler than ice, and Philip Michael Thomas was hotter than the Miami sun. The two men played Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, drug-enforcement officers in a bright and fashionable Miami. At the time Miami was a run-down town, plagued with drugs as well as other social and economic problems. It’s no secret that Miami Vice helped the area prosper to eventually become what it is today. The show was a watershed moment in TV much like how MTV changed music and music videos. Crocket and Tubbs took on hardened criminals and suffered for it. They showed the real side of policing, where the risk of being harmed or even killed was an occupational hazard. What really made the show for me, was their friendship. The loyalty and understanding they had for one another influenced me in a big way. When I think of great friendships, I think of Crocket and Tubbs, two men who couldn’t be more different, yet were prepared to die for each other. How many of us have a friendship like that? I can’t write about Miami Vice and not talk more about their pastel-shaded fashion, the stubble-faces, sock-free and carefree hairstyles. The look of Miami Vice is what made it stand out from other police shows. The pastel colours added warmth to their personalities and complemented the Miami sunshine. The colours popped out as did everything else in the show. The rough, unclean, dishevelled look was to Miami Vice what Clint Eastwood was to Fistful of Dollars. The grooming style reminded me of that 1960s Spaghetti Western look made popular by legendary as well as visionary film director Sergio Leone. I imagine Michael Man was influenced by Leone’s anti-hero characters. The Sonny Crocket look became very popular with guys. The light-coloured blazer, pastel T-shirt and shoes without socks became commonplace. I can still remember some of my older friends wearing this look. Oh, they didn’t wear sock because it was too hot! You’d need them in England! What a decade to have grown up in.
Yeah, and another example of society copying a movie/show would be Kevin Kostner's idiot-looking haircut in that movie, The Bodyguard. It's amazing how the admiration & respect he induced overpowered the crappiness of that haircut.
God I miss this show so much. It was the most classy cop show ever created. Great story lines, guest actors, music, clothing, everything..........Thank you very much Michael Mann.
Ahhh the 80's, where work was a plenty, the dawn of a new era was on the horizon, computers were becoming commonplace, the Commodore 64 was peaking in sales, women had beautiful "big" hair, baby boomer families were thriving, single, detached home construction soared, the list goes on.
Synthesisers took music to another level and inspired artists to experiment vocally with it inspiring unusual confidence and results. Was back in the days when social media didn’t exist, and you stood in front of someone in real life and felt your feelings, and didn’t say things you didn’t mean. Was a time more in your heart, than in your head, but now it’s different, plus Covid.. Women and men were mostly all on the same team, very much less stress. I think very few realised at the time how very special this period of life was.
On top of the surreal ambient electronica that drives into you, the visual world that is Michael Mann's incredible style. The close ups - the complex shots, the camera work... and choice of setting for lighting. Amazing.
Lol - Boy George, David Bowie, Elton John and Freddie Mercury were probably the four biggest stars of the 1980s. 😬🙄😆 Three were gay, one was bisexual, and two of them went on TV wearing makeup. It was fashionable for men to wear makeup, for a few years, in the 1980s in fact
Of all the songs that were created in the 80s, this instrumental piece by Jan Hammer is probably one of the most beautiful melodies that have ever been created - without even a piece of text - because you don't need it here. Nothing catches this decade better than that music. The mixture of bounty south sea feeling, sandy beach, Ferrari Daytona and synth sounds is an absolute masterpiece .....
Time should have stopped in the eighties.
Absolutely! I miss the 80's.

Halloween, Christmas and just 80s in general. oh man ,what I would do to be back in that decade....best decade of my life ever. the music was awesome, movies and series were fantastic.

The movie stars in the 80's were also great. I was a young kid, but I had a crush on Brooke Shields, Kim Basinger and many more..

This was a great show and you couldn't have better music. The shows today do not compare.
Ardmore Verizon While I love everything 80’s , despite being born in 1993 , shows of today are as good if not better. Have you not seen Breaking Bad?
There hasn't been a duo better than them
Yeah, and another example of society copying a movie/show would be Kevin Kostner's idiot-looking haircut in that movie, The Bodyguard. It's amazing how the admiration & respect he induced overpowered the crappiness of that haircut.

TV show from my childhood, the 80s...When everything-movies, TV shows, music-seemed to have a soul. What a beautiful memory!
