This is great news. I’m trading my 08 X5 sport premium 4.8i . It has 117, 300 miles for a 2012 Porsche Cayenne S. This is a game changer for me for sure. Thank you. I’m looking around Boston right now for my Porsche.
I have a 2015 Cayenne S, no notices from Porsche. Do have the transfer case issue but I've been abating it by replacing fluid with Ravenol brand. Thank goodness! Thought I would be doing this job myself eventually... Will contact my local dealer first of March I think. TC in Annapolis Maryland
Hi Kevin, another great video as usual... My next project is to service the transmission. 110k miles. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like a tutorial on that. Thanks, keep it up!
Kevin, thanks for the update - I just started experiencing the issue this weekend (while coming back from a driving experience at PECATL!). I was just getting ready to start the fluid swaps but looks like I'll give the Porsche dealer a shot.
My 2020 Macan S with 23,500 miles getting the transfer case replaced after sudden jolts when driving below 5mph, usually experienced in parking lots while creeping forward waiting for a parking spot. Today they called me and said the Transfer Case needs to be replaced under warranty😎
Kevin Along with my 2003 996, I have a 2018 Macan. I have noted during some stop and go traffic have a funny noise and a hesitation when pulling away/ So thanks for the FYI Mike
Your still under the regular factory warranty. I don’t know what they will do exactly. I’ve heard of them just replacing it outright or changing the fluid first. I’m hoping people will leave comments to what Porsche does. So, we as a community know what to expect. All they said to me is that have to see the vehicle. I think they are proceeding on case by case basis.
@@KevinsEuropeanGarage Well I will call them this morning as it is time for 20K service anyway and keep all of you in the loop about the transmission/transfer case issue Thanks Mike
I found a dealership that did a transfer case flush twice back in December, and solved the issue 90 percent. I still feel a skip or two when cold and turning. I was denied a replacement under warranty. So is it worth putting say $600 for dual flush, knowing you still may need a new ~$5,000 transfer case at ‘some point’ down the road. These are all dealership costs. Good luck 👍
The transfer case my Macan was replaced at 22k and the problem started to come back after the warranty expired. I don't recall getting the extended warranty in mail and found this video after 7 years. I just changed the transfer case oil last month and the problem is 95% gone.
They sent out almost zero paperwork. You had to go to the dealer to get the information or look it up. I find that it might take a few flushed to get it 100% and going forward change it every 15k and it should be ok mine made it to 150k and that was when I traded the car in.
I have had to replace the transfer case twice in first 27K miles on my 2015 Macan S. First time Porsche reimbursed me $3,000 for the repair when they extended the warranty on this part to 7 years due to so many problems with their transfer cases. 2nd transfer case I will need to pay for because I am 6 weeks past the 7 year warranty. Seems many owners are starting to replace for 2nd time. Porsche should be recalling the Macans for this issue. Very disappointed with Porsche for not taking ownership of their faulty transfer cases.
I agree a transfer case shouldn’t have issues like this when it’s 7 years old. Porsche seems to not want to own up to their mistakes at times. I’m still on the original transfer case my warranty has 1 more year to go. Your warranty should have been extended to 100k like the earlier cars. Unfortunately most Porsche owners are flush with cash and this isn’t an issue they just pay the bill. If this was happening to Toyota and Hyundai this would be a different story.
I get you completely. Unfortunately car companies doing what’s right without their hand being force happens rarely. If you move on from Porsche I understand that. I think this issue could have been handled better on their part.
@@KevinsEuropeanGarage same here.. my cayenne S 2013. Don't have issues with the TC yet "hopefully never" just sent the car for scheduled maintenance for 80k miles. I asked to change all fluids for TC, diffs and the transmission. They gave me the same nonsense about not needing to change the fluid until 160k.. I insisted to do it even though they told me that the TC has still more year under extended warranty. On the other hand, changing those fluids at 80k is making me a bit nervous. I am afraid it may cause problems. I had no problems currently, do you think 80k is ok?
Agree. Should be miles based not years. I am very disappointed also. Been having issues for months, thought it was bad gas. Then when it got real bad, dealership said I am two month over extended warranty. I said I never received any letter, and car has been in dealership prior, why did no one tell me or ask me? Explain the symptoms. It’s a cover up for sure and Porsche just buying time.
I've seen a few off road Cayennes. They look cool. I like the 2010 TRANS SIBERIA 957. Black with the orange accents. I'd have to look into how much it would cost. Thanks for watching
Ran my 2012 Cayenne thru the PNA recall site and it says "No Recall"... what gives...??? Local dealership wants ~ $300 just to check the transfer case as part of their 'inspection'! The dealership will then decide whether the transfer case needs to be replaced or not. If it does need to be replaced it 'may' be done only as a "goodwill gesture". This doesn't seem like a recall...
I’m sorry you haven’t had any luck with your dealer. Is there another dealer you can call to have them check the warranty on the transfer case? This is an extended warranty so you won’t find anything in a recall database. Unfortunately not all dealerships are created equal, some being much better than others. You can always try Porsche North America.
The transfer case problem is apparently about aluminum screws being used instead of steel. Speaking of warranties and recalls, at least Porsche didn't have to be sued, unlike BMW did for their plastic timing chain issues.
Bro, please make a video on changing the battery. I have a 2012 CTT and It's totally different from the '08 CS I had that I could change myself. That would be great cause as you know my dealer want $1,250 to change it.
Hi Kevin, thanks for all the videos. My 14 cayenne GTS is having light jerking which I am not sure it is due to transfer case. I called the dealer but the dealer said they will charge $188 for diagnosing. May I know if the slight jerking /hesitation is due to the transfer case? Will this slight jerking cause any other problems? If not, maybe I can wait one year or two to get one new one before the warranty ends? Thanks for your time.
Usually any other jerking cause by the engine would cause a check engine light to come on. But the transfer case won’t cause it to come on. Try another dealer in your area if there is one. They probably quoted you that just in case it wasn’t the transfer case. You could wait a little longer too if you can stand it, to make sure no doubt your having the issues. Thanks for watching.
Hey Kevin, as usual thank you for sharing a great information. Well on a cold start the engine timing it’s retarded to help heat the cat cons faster for less emissions. That usually last around a minute if you let the car idle. It sounds like the engine runs rough and the exhaust is louder. Does that sound like what is happening? Other than that it’s really hard to diag when you don’t have the car or maybe a video. Maybe could be something as simple as the drive belt making noise too. Thanks for the suggestions I do have a couple of those planned like the transmission service. Thanks for watching
