I've done 15,000 miles in 2 Macans, think I'm in the front sensor comments. On my car it was a loose plastic front No.Plate that I fitted, setting off sensors when I braked as the ends moved a few mm. I secured the ends with adhesive pads - problem solved. PORSCHE fit metal plates.
Rear wiper is the very small fiddly switch not easy to use. I had a warranty claim for poor fit of the clamshell bonnet, so bad it should not have left the factory! All fixed by dealer body shop. A fantastic car, just look at it in your video, best looking SUV available today.

It's a fantastic car, agree the sensors drive me nuts, can confirm Porsche said live with the squeaking brakes, have had it back a few time for blown fuses, once on sun roof, twice with electric seats. If you have anything in the back that the seat pushes against, it'll blow the fuse. I'll forgive all that for the handling and general usefulness. I abuse mine with two dogs in the back, gets covered in mud and all kinds of crap on the back seats, but it scrubs up well. Only regret is not having the roof rails. I love the diesel too and the economy you get for a car with this performance is excellent.

I just watched a video by a Porsche mechanic. He told a sad tail about the Macan 6. He said it’s a pos due to too many Audi parts, plastic parts, OIL LEAKS. He said the leaks come at 6,000 miles. The use of cheap aluminum bolts are all a over the car. The mechanic said it not a good car. Cayenne is a better car. The 911 is the one to buy.

I have a 2017 Macan S, is an absolute great car, better than Mercedes and BMW which i owned prior to the Porsche. With regards to the parking sensors, they are sensitive, but they are supposed to be, one likes to know when you get to close to an object. In addition you have the option to turn it off with the switch located in the overhead console😀.

I am 6'3" no issues at all with height or back seat. We bought a CPO 2018 S. This is a solid car, very well built, fun to drive and very nice. Has a lot of options the previous owner specked out. Over 16k in upgrades and we paid just a fraction of the upgrades. My only complaint is the wheels are ugly. They are the 5 spokes with 3 ribs each.

I’ve owned a 2015 diesel Macan for just over 3 years now. Issues I’ve had are similar to ones commented on here. Failed transfer box at 30,000 miles. Main dealers refused to cover cost. DPF error message just the once. Frequent tyre pressure monitoring messages. Spurious parking sensor issue. Dodgy wipers. Seat bolsters easily damaged getting in and out. I’ve actually developed tendinitis since since using the Macan. I find the actual base of the seat too firm. Ive used memory foam cushions and the pain disappeared. Remove the cushion and the pain reappears. Went to check top up the washer fluid today and the bonnet won’t open. I’m still scratching my head on that one! Lol

More issues since my transfer box failed. diesel particle filter “service” alarm appeared on screen. First course of action. Find a stretch of motorway, select manual then drive at a steady 2000RPM for 15 minutes or so. The DPF will “regenerate” & the alarm will more than likely disappear. High bolsters on 18 way adjustable seats are easily deformed getting in and out of the vehicle. Light coloured Alcantara seats especially will look a mess very early on. Front parking sensors have a mind off their own and randomly come on whilst crawling in traffic feet away from other vehicles. Top tip. Find a good enthusiastic independent Porsche specialist to look after your car, there are loads out there. Why? Because main dealers like their piss take prices are a joke. They would steal their own grandmas false teeth if they thought they could make a profit on them. You have been warned!

My Macan diesel S is superb. Yes, the front parking sensors are sensitive but just turn them off! A big issue that wasn’t mentioned are transfer boxes. Mine had a new one at 19000 miles and I know of others that have had two. Also DPF issues with the diesels but you get that with any diesel. I’m 6’ 2” and my mates, all over 6’ have no issue with space at the back and I also am very comfortable driving. My heated seat sometimes won’t work but other than that the only problem is that I can’t think of anything that better suits my needs and I’ll be keeping it until it breaks or I do. If you are looking to buy one, make sure it has the PASM adaptive dampers.

Good job with the video. We have a Jet Black also, a 2016 Macan S. Wife leased it brand new and bought it off lease so we now own it. Great vehicle. Just performed the 30K oil/filter service. Not too bad, T25 for belly pan screws; 8mm Hex for oil pan bolt and 36mm cartridge filter wrench, nice opportunity to buy new tools!!. As a 6 ft tall driver ( i am program #2 for seat positions ) I do agree that rear leg room is somewhat limited, however, for short trips, my 6 ft tall 17 year old son is still ok in the back behind me. Last year we did have a warranty repair on a timing cover oil leak. Leaking at top edge and the problem was aluminum bolts broken off. "Replaced with new parts" Dont know if the new parts are aluminum bolts too? We got a loaner Macan for a few days and all appears ok now. Thanks for the video. Love our Macan S.

Just had a plastic ( yes plastic) pipe that connects the two cylinder heads on my 2015 Macan S petrol fail due to heat fatigue at 88,000kms. The pipe must balance the water flow into the heads or similar . A relatively cheap ( $160) part that a. should be made of metal and b. shouldn't fail at this age. Porsche are likely to be aware of this issue and the thing that really irks me is they haven't improved the replacement part - same cheap plastic affair. A labour intensive fix that could have been avoided with better materials being employed. I'd hate to have this happen somewhere remote. Renders the car undriveable.

Having owned 2 Porsche products from new since 2001 I am qualified to comment. Porsche trade on a reputation of "a super car you can use every day", "hewn from granite build quality" and the "epitome of German automotive engineering". That may have applied pre 1998 but sadly post model 993 & air cooling that is not the case as articles such as these show. As Porsche attitude to those who suffered IMS & bore scoring on the M96 & 97 engines have shown, their products, engineering & customer care are awful.

Hi Jean Marie, I have the same issue with oil leak from timing cover. I am reading your statement that Porsche will repair on goodwill? Is that true? When did that start? I wasn't aware that Porsche even acknowledge that this is a problem although the oil leak and transfer case issues are the two most complained issues in MacanS, GTS Turbo since 2015. Look forward to your response.

@@Slytherious Thank you for the encouragement. I have seen them around, and I'm sure they'd meet all my driving expectations.
The wording of your reply, though, makes me think there's still a big difference in reliability: I've had Toyota's for 24 of those 30 years, and apart from regular servicing, the sum total of problems that I've had are (1) a broken speedometer cable, which I replaced myself, and (2) a failed starter motor, which was instantly replaced under extended warrantee. I'm struggling to think of anything else that's ever broken down, apart from light bulbs.
I had a Belgian-built Ford for a few years; the failures were endless; I sold it when the auto-electrician bills got over $1,000 per year.
European cars are definitely the classiest and best designed, but under-engineered in the detail.

The recall involves Camry, Avalon, RAV4, and Lexus ES300H vehicles, including hybrids, and affected vehicles will get their engines replaced.

I have had to replace the transfer case twice in first 27K miles on my 2015 Macan S. First time Porsche reimbursed me $3,000 for the repair when they extended the warranty on this part to 7 years due to so many problems with their transfer cases. 2nd transfer case I will need to pay for because I am 6 weeks past the 7 year warranty. Seems many owners are starting to replace for 2nd time. Porsche should be recalling the Macans for this issue. Very disappointed with Porsche not taking ownership of their faulty transfer cases.

Bought mine 3.5 years ago. Fuel pump, water pump, transfer case, crankshaft, exhaust pipes replaced under warranty. Issue with squeaky steering wheel fixed under warranty. Had to have the engine dropped out to repair an engine oil leak. Also covered. They even did a free entire detail when they got the car back a day later than estimated. A little concerned about legendary quality not being what it is supposed to be but they have definitely stood behind their product. Besides maintenance issues, which have been handled very professionally, the vehicle is fantastic. The best combination of family hauler and sports sedan with the DNA of a sports car (steering, stability, braking) and decent ability in the snow and unpaved roads. My next purchase will be another Macan. Probably The Turbo.

She wanted that new 2019 Acura RDX however instantly fell in love with this Macan. I am however terrified of potential issues that have been listed in thread. If we planned to keep this vehicle for 5 years are we in for major issues? I do believe that Acura reliability would be superior however I never imagined major issues within the first 100k miles with the Porche. I hope we didn’t make a big mistake. Thoughts?

Todd Mullis Hi. Any car can have issues. Porsche knows about most of these but doesn’t actively seek to fix them. If you contact them they are great about acknowledging and fixing but you have to initiate. You’re at about the mileage where I started to see these issues. It is the first edition of this vehicle so there are bound to be wear issues. All in all I would not trade it for another vehicle. Acura makes great vehicles but you would notice the considerable drop in performance. Hope it works well for you.

Dashboard is horribly laid out. The big, central gauge is the tachometer, which I suppose reflects the sporting emphasis, but we all know it's irrelevant with an automatic transmission. The speedometer is a tiny gauge off to the left that is completely useless. So you need to set the digital display to show speed.

Yep so the bolts they use are aluminum and basically disintegrate pretty easily causing oil to leak through them. If you get zinc coated aluminum bolts it's around I believe a $400 dollar fix. As long as if you replace all the bolts with the proper quality metal so it doesn't rust and break you basically have fixed the issue. If your buying one used or even new have the skid plate pulled and check if the underside of it has absorbed any oil

Other than the Porsche name-plate, I don’t think the Macan is up to snuff in quality and safety with the new generation Volvos. Recently had to change mechatronic control unit ouch had the gear warning message and engine light come on triggered by faulty sensors in that unit. Also had the rear wiper arm replaced because it kept throwing the wiper out for no reason! The car is great to drive but very bad quality parts from Porsche. Never expected such! Also to add the brakes are worn out quickly it seems that its not for daily use or not for ME region!

To answer your question, yes, the issues mentioned in the comments are fairly common. Timing chain cover oil leaks, both Porsche SAs and techs told me that the problem "happens far more often then is should." And "the factory hasn't done anything to solve the issue on more recent builds." Mine had to return to the dealership 3x to get this fixed. Just saying MOST of these complaints are so over the top like it’s not a Cayenne it’s a wagon so if you are over 6ft (I am) that just put the seat back and stop sooking and the other one the we have never had a sunroof problem so they are probably not pressing the button in they are half pressing it in, and the final problem that people need to get used to and it’s a big one is that the noisy brakes, Porsche have the best brakes in the business hands down but you can’t have such good brakes with no noise it’s not possible and it you had no noise you will have huge brake fade because the pads will be softer and that will effect how good the brakes are so they won’t always have a noise to them but they will always be the best brakes possible and you can’t have the perfect brake that brakes on a dime and has no noise so that’s the only thing that I don’t like about the complaint but other then that I hope people understand what I’m saying
