I was born in 2005. Music was the first love of my life and it all began with New Order at the end of 2019. Barney is the reason I started singing almost two years ago. Hooky is the reason I began playing bass 3 days ago. But their music is my anchor to this world and it will go down in my personal life story as the band of my teenage years.
I was your age when Movement first came out. I first saw them live when they came to the Fox in Atlanta for the Low Life tour. Have been a super fan ever since. The best thing about your age, though, is that there is so much history to unravel. Welcome. Cheers.
I was 17-18 when I first heard them...87 '87-'88... Perfect Kiss video. It blew me away, the raw sound as opposed to all the standard stuff my friends listened to.
Almost same, mate. I was born in 2000 and discovered them in 2021. I mostly love them for the mixture of electronic music and post-punk. Hooky's roaring bass guitar supported by bass synthesizer sometimes blows my mind. Acoustic and electronic drums supported by drum machine - that's just amazing!
A few of us went to Hull from Blackburn, great gig, loved it, we wandered into the back of the hall and saw them doing the sound check, it was a great gig. 👍
Damn 1984 I was in year at at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney Australia, first heard New Order 1983 in CD at school music room song Blue Monday , never forget that experience
Fantastic sound love the dirty synth on 586 loved the album when it came out it was like new orders here with a new sound then leave me alone hits you like JD!
Was there. The "I've been to Hull before" adlib kills me! Seem to remember everyone sitting for the local support act then without any prompting carefully staking all the chairs to the side before heading down to the front. Great fans
Oh the tour of ‘84. ‘Sleeping’ in one of those porta cabins after the Sunderland gig. ‘Sleeping’ in the graveyard in St Austell after getting completely smashed on the beach. Bernard wearing my Psychic TV T-shirt in Portsmouth. Slim downing 3 Big Mac’s in 5 minutes on the Strand for a bet which he won and playing pool with Rob Gretton with empty cans over the holes. 100 games for 10p in Heaven. Pete Saville, Morrissey with a super hot lass. Jon Marsh moaning about something or another, always. Great days.
Hull City Hall looks like a real cool place to see a New Order show, especially an early raw-sounding show like this. New Order when they were lean, mean, and deadly-sounding! Wish I could have been there!
New Order were terrific that night , played their pop set , they started with Blue Monday , as Barney had vowed never to play it live again after a duff one at Sunderland
Ayr Odeon on this tour, we had a sony walkmam twin ,metal tape, recorder hidden inside a tampax box to get past bouncers, never failed. But not as good as this..........
You're probably young, but what exactly of Donna Summer and New York do here in these songs or recordings?. Stop reading nonsense, and then repeating it. What I hear is Kraftwerk, ELECTRO (not Donna Summer), and the what other what other people making Industrial music in the UK at the time were doing...patching together machines and making synths, and instead of ditching guitars and bass, keeping them as main instruments Thats the sound of Manchester, a Industrial city, not New York....its actually Post PUNK
@@zochbuppet448 Pointing out the obvious Donna Summer influence in their early sound doesn’t mean the other influences you mentioned are invalid. Peter Hook even said they were going to “Donna Summer it” after the end of Joy Division.
@@mrs0rochester You are right, But I dont know about the donna summer it up quote...do you know the video he says that it. What I realize now is they were were extremely technically proficient (well barney), take something and totally change it and incorporate it in what they did...changing it without a lot of people knowing. Right at the beginning here now I her a beat that was probably manipulated from somewhere else. Us People who were into punk and new wave wouldn't of known it would only be to some people who were into disco, or who knew the donna summers songs really well. I dont know how long ago Hook said it, couldn't of been that long ago. The main beat of Blue Money is a rip off of another of her song. There is a producer guy that does talks about music production on here and dismantles the song and shows all the components and where they came...and supposedly the very first music sampling in history
you can buy a device from ebay that allows you to do this. DONT buy the cassette player version. Alan Waites wow ive just put it in my watch list ,, thankyou for this , i never knew this existed , this is great as i also have about 38 Joy D gigs that need copying before they disintigrate , thankyou again
TheArpomni2 basically it is simple to use. For gigs tapes its fine, just let it run until the end of the tape, it treats it as 1 track, good for mp3 players. if you want individual tracks then you need to be snappy with the pause/stop button. Once you copied to USB/SD card then put it into your pc where you can re-name the tracks. I couldn't live without mine, only had it 6 months, best £12 I ever spent lol.
I've got a DVD boxset with a lot of rarities including a great quality sound of this, video that's pretty good on one 84 gig, 86 Hollywood bowl perfect audio, pilton 87 video and audio, roxy tf HQ, full TOTP true faith HQ, the mp3s, This time of night in Rotterdam 85, a lot of 87, 89, 85, audio, 85 Belgium video, bernards Prozac diaries, home recordings, rare sound clip of 16 seconds the first time Bernard sang true faith chorus in the studio (you can hear his head phones), fulcrum, and much more, im putting it together as a huge dvd/cd set plus metallic art print posters im redesigning for each gig and a cool rare shirt design, plus 25 uniquely designed different New Order badges. I would like to have proceeds benefit new order's goal to find cure for AIDS by 2020.

Albrectht the 'Sound Of Music' eh?
This is why they were so genius, they could take three different songs of theirs and string them into one giant medley of sonic euphoria.
Yeah
Also probably helps that all 3 songs are in the same key
This was my first NO gig. Saw Bernard wandering round town on his own beforehand. Also support was Lavolta Lakota, not a local band.
18 mins of pure perfection, one of their best ever live performances!
OOH statement

I am a Blue Monday child as well.
CD in 1983¿ Back to The future¿
Just another reason why this band were the greatest. An incredible performance.
Stood on the balcony at that one. They were excellent.
Many years later went to the Guildhall for my daughter’s graduation 😊

New Order at their best!

It really isn't , terrible place , OK for classical / orchestral , useless for rock , ask the Who

Tonight with PSB in NYC 9/28 after waiting soooooo long cannot wait. This is GREAT, LOVE.
Such a great medley and amazing audio balance from audience source.
love this performance--thank you for uploading
I was there ! OMG !!!
I was in Rennes, décembre 85... it was quiite good also.
la esencia y la substancia de New Order en 18:27 min.........
la mejor época del combo Mancuniano.
I would kill for a video of this.
ohh I was hoping for a video of them playing live.

You serious?
Glorious story, seems like you guys knew how to do it back in the day. Such a pleasure to read about your escapades from '84!
What a medley! Superb...so much energy.

I got a new order bootleg, i think its the sunderland mayfair on vynal, is it worth anything? Hardly likely?
Sehr gut
I think it woulda been intresting if the beat from E.G.G. carried over into 586 and then into Temptation without stopping
