He is so nervous he started to imitate Ian's dancing. Wow.
its so adorable 😭❤️
hell give it a good go but there only one who can carry that off unfortunately hes no longer with us .................
This is easily my favorite versions of both of these songs. So many great things about this video, to me this is early New Order at their absolute early shambolic best
That's maybe the 30 time i watch this one ! i love a real real live like this ^^ 42 years ago ...
Saw them in ‘82 when they headlined Futurama 4 at Deeside. They segued EGG into Temptation beautifully and aired Age of Consent, what we referred to as the Double Deckers Song! (anyone old enough to remember the theme tune from that kids tv programme will know what I mean!)
This is pretty amazing, they are still working these songs out. Hurt w/ no lyrics and temptation with the early lyrics that change probably at least 2 more times.
I think the Temptation lyrics still change from performance to performance 😂 But that's part of what we love about NO isn't it
@@linoportelli8240and get better and better
I love it when songs segue from one to another as effortlessly as Hurt and Temptation do. Barney looks lost and awkward up on stage without a guitar (and under the influence of something).
What's really interesting, is that this live version of Temptation is somewhat different to the live version of Temptation that appears on their Taras Shevchenko video, which was recorded just one week later. Both versions are great, yet different - and both are still different to the version that was released as a single in 1982 (but recorded in 1981).
I think Barney was under the influence of something or another during most of those 80s concerts. Hook wrote in his autobiography that there was a drink, was a mix of absinthe and champagne, that Barney took a liking to in those early days.
@@thollstitched - that's a pretty scary combination, but explains a lot.
Spot on, the Tara’s shevchenko segues into everything’s gone green as I recall, I love that version
@@gaz4840 - yeah, I love it as well. A very underrated period of their music, in my opinion.
Holy shit look at Baby Barney doing The Ian Dance! At the fucking Peppermint Lounge!! Crazy!!! Loved NYC in the early 80s. Thanks much for posting!!!!
very deep and beautiful, an inner implosion
NO were never ever better than this.
Wow this is gold, thank you for posting this!!
Sound quality is amazing!
great ambiance on the stage
Pure class aka ways live even keep mistikes, when things don’t go right, was summer trying to channel into cutis spirit with his dance, brill❤️❤️👽😎😊.
Love early New Order, first saw them in 1981 at Sheffield Poly, think it was an unemployment benefit gig, Stockholm Monsters and Section 25 on as well.
Bernards trying do a ian dance n forgot hurt has words.😅 Of his nut classic new order
Both tracks were being road tested. 8th time Temptation was played live, 3rd time with vocals. Hurt had pretty much debuted at this point.
Mistakes ,faults , not synchro sometimes but great after all ! no matter ! a real live that's all and that's good ! OMG i was just turn 4 yo in 81 !!!
RESPECT ! It was hte begining of new order just after Joy division ,we know today what ggreat are NEW ORDER ^^
Grettings from Belgium :)
I was there!!!
Oh yeah? Then what did they play?
@@thollstitched at least hurt and temptation 😉 thanks for the vid!

Indeed.
Her and Kate Bush were my pre teen crushes...🖤
she was a babe and how the hell did she put up the other three bless her
Big hair Goth Gillian is best Gillian.
Great bass lines
As always with Mr. Hooky
Wooooowww wooooowww 😍😍😍
I love this. Bernard looks so awkward until he's got an instrument in his hand 😊
Geeeeez how did I miss this one
Movement rediosssssses supremoooooooooooooo
Brilliant how they change the chords and the lyrics to make a song better. This is after punk be bop with compromise
All that tech working 100% but they didn't tune the guitar! great show anyways!
I think Barney sounded like he didnt know who or what New Order was yet...
Just enjoy and stop hating
At around 12:00,"And I've never met anyone as drunk as you before".
Barney performed a lot better for the Ukrainian National Home concert because of the recording for Taras Shevchenko?
He was a bit aggressive later in the FACT 77 video though.
Thanks for posting this,I don't think I heard or watched this gig before.
I enjoyed the dancing.
Depended on his mood and the working level of the equipment at the time. Either Hooky or Steve said that back then at some the gigs the "sequencers would sweat". But, yeah, Taras Shevchenko is a great early gig.
@@thollstitchedI remember one bootleg - don't remember the song - where Bernie sings "and then the synthesizers will be in tune". 😂
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🖤🇧🇷
Did Bernard try to dance like Ian at The beginning of Hurt? 😮
Maybe.
sounds great ! thanks for the mastering of this recording, amazing. Isn't that the place where all their gear was stolen?
I'm not sure when exactly their gear was stolen but it was on this 81 NY tour. Thanks, but I didn't do any post work on the video. I had a "temptation" to work on it but I ripped the video straight from the collectors edition of Movement. Temptation... get it?
@@thollstitched Their gear was stolen on the 1980 tour.
How many lyrics did Bernard adlib??
All
The keymonica lmao
As we say in Scotland, yer a haver
Melodika...
Not shambolic just anarchic and against all odds trying to push boundaries and challenge show bizz perception and predictability

At year it was?
1981
Thank you thank you for adding this video! Someone had posted it and i discovered it a few years ago, but it was taken down... and now it's back :)

Holy crap, I never caught that. lol. Made my day. thanks!
I’d have turned down Hooky by “just a gnat’s whisker”.😂
ese bernard un xuxa bailando jajajajjaja
God, Barney really is a terrible frontman
fook off, barney was the best, sexiest thing ever
Crap, just finding his feet. he never wanted to be a front man.
@@imc51well put he never imagined he would ever be front off stage................ i think he voice is brilliant and as matured with age some people havent a clue what there mouthing about
Yes but that’s what we love about him
Duh..He knew this
je crois que c'est la pire prestation de bernard à la guitare et au chant, trop d'echo, son pourri
They were still rising from the ashes~
But I love it
wa teu fer maitre
This is embarrassingly poor. The hipsters will pretend to like it, though. 🥰
Hippy hippy. Hipsters.HIP HIP!
the pains still there la..being a manc i know.
Don’t be daft, it’s great.
It’s fucking awesome and I’m truly bummed I wasn’t there.
It seems I have become a hipster. This is awesome!
