    Link to order the new 2 button pen, tablet-pro.myshopify.com
    I couldn't find anyone shipping these internationally so I just ordered a bunch of these from the manufacturer. Great stylus and didn't make sense to be getting the crumbs from Amazons table for my family.
    Can ship internationally, just keep in mind shipping is high to most international destinations (I don't make money on shipping just the pen)

    If you're performing the same tasks on both machines, do you still get the same battery life, or does the i7 get less because of the extra power/fan?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  4 года назад +7

      Erika Yoon that’s really a great question. I’m tempted out of curiosity to test this. But I currently only have the i7 and the Pro X. My thought is that if you are considering if you can go all day with either machine without a charging solution you’re most likely better off bringing something with you. Neither device is great on battery. Nothing new in that arena. Performance is the big improvement this year and you’re definitely going to want to plug in or bring an external battery. I’ve used 30% in a 15 min gaming test... soooooo it can go fast, just like the last gen models but a faster top end.

    Just to clarify, it's not $150 away from i7 model. It's $300 more than i5. I5 bundle costs $1000 and i7 bundle costs $1300.
    I would NEVER recommend i7 model. Reason for this is because surface pro sucks at gaming regardless of whether it's i5 or i7. I have the SP7 i5 256gb, but i wanted to know how i7 model performed, so I tried benchmarking an i7 SP7 my friend owned, and it SUCKS. Graphic benchmarks are of course better than i5, but it cant even run games without screen tear or constant 60fps. Even my outdated 4year old cheapo gaming laptop with gtx960m blows the i7 SP7 out of the water.
    Remember, Surface Pro is not a gaming device. It's meant for content creators like photoshop users and artists. These kind of work is mostly CPU based, and i5 and i7 doesnt have a big difference in cpu power. So please dont waste your money on i7 and get the i5. If you want good graphics and portable gaming experience, get a decent gaming laptop for 600-900bucks and buy the surface pro i5 model if you need a drawing tablet.

      I am curious on your opion to this question; do you think the i5 is adequate for video editing vs the i7 (all other variables being the same)? I only want the SP7 for notes and video editing (no gaming)

    • @coldvoltage6299
      @coldvoltage6299 4 года назад

      @@1q2w3e4r5t6yx I'd say yes, Sp7 i5 is powerful enough to handle that. I've used a surface pro 5 and 6 i7 before, and it was powerful enough to handle video editing. Iris plus graphics in SP7 i5 processor is known to be 69% more powerful than SP6 i7's Intel UHD graphics 620, so you should be okay with the i5 unless you do hardcore 4k editing(which i would recommend using a desktop)
      Also, get a small attachable fan if you want to do some performance demanding work. I've seen a lot of guys refund their SP7 i7 and get the i5 version + mini attachable fan, which is way more cost efficient.
      Edit: According to userbench, SP6 i7 3d benchmark scores 6.6% for graphics performance, and my SP7 i5 benchmark scores 11%. So I'd say about 67% performance increase.

    Hi, another good video on the SP7 models, but I can't seem to find much or really any information regarding non-aaa gaming. Every time someone is talking about gaming they mention triple A titles but I only want to use my device for "casual" games. Simulation, strategy, indie; those types. How is the i5 going to handle it? I've seen only one source that says it does it perfectly well, but would like some more input. "Casual" gaming for me because it's not a device needed for anything heavier than that. Thank you.

    Hey :) found your channel like a week ago. Loved every video I‘ve watched so far. Really helped me to see that the X is not for me. I have a question tho: I got the SP7 i7 512GB and still have about 25days to return it. I‘m thinking about getting the Surface Book 2 instead (i7, 512 - not sure if 13,5“ with 1050 or 15“ with 1060). I do wanna game on it. Of course not as heavy as on my desktop that runs everything in 4K 60FPS but also not in 720p lowest setting like I do currently on my SP7. Would you still recommend getting the book 2 now although it’s on the end of its life circle and a new one is expected to be announced anytime soon (but not soon enough since I need and want it now) I do wanna use it for a few years :/
    Thank you 🙏 ☺️

      I'm also in a similar situation. Except I currently have the older Surface Book 2 i7 6600 16gb. But it's been chugging. I think its due to battery expanding/over heating (Its a few years old). One thing I have not liked about the surface book is how inconvenient it is to go from dedicated graphics to tablet only. It is NOT seamless, so I'm thinking of ditching the gpu and going with surface pro 7. My work will pretty much buy me the best of the best. I mostly use Indesign, after effects and 3dsmax. Will surface pro 7 i7 maxed run those well or should I wait for the next surface book?

    Nice review! I'm strugling about buy the right laptop. Unfortunally I'm an akword person, I do 2d/3d and programming (web stuff and prgramming shaders). For sure I'm finding some portable laptop, cuz at home I have a powerfull laptop. I dunno about the surface pro 7 and a used surface book 2. You says that the surface pro 7 i7 is faster the surface book 2 but my question is about the graphic card. The surface book2 for the 13" has an nvidia 1050 and a 1060 for the 15". I care about the graphic card becouse for some 2d software that use gpu and some 3d app. I really like the surfce pro especially the black one but the integrated intel graphic scare me a bit.
    Thanks

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  4 года назад

      Hi Luciano, what programs are you using that use the dgpu? some of them will only go so fast regardless of the graphics card, the bottleneck is somewhere else. So it may make more sense to have a faster cpu for some programs and gpu for others. (you most likely know that already). I find the Surface Book a pain in the butt to use but I liked it's dgpu a lot for gaming. just don't like the detachable top design. Supposedly there is a new Surface Book 3 on the horizon, likely to be announced within a month or two. (possibly as late as sept). What is your price range?

My price range is no more than 1600 euros I know that is too off for the surface book 2 but I found a good used one on Amazon. At this point my main purpose is to use it for illustration ( I use PaintStorm Studio that use GPU and Paint tool SAI that is soo lightwave that is not a problem) and I'll use it for programming too. Do you use more the i5 version or the i7? Also do you ever try the HP Spectre x360?

Which would you go for if the primary use case is O365, RUclips/Netflix? I don’t like changing computers so I want it to last longer. Does have the extra 8GB of RAM makes a big difference in maintaining its use ability over time?

    Maybe it's worth investigating this for your viewers.

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  4 года назад +5

      It has to come from a compatible charging block or battery that supports the power delivery protocol. It’s a higher watt charger so the current going through the usb c cable needs to reach a certain level in order hit the power needs of the system. It took me a lot of research to learn that with the Surface Book 2. (I was trying to do the same thing)

      Gaming, I’m not sure which would be suitable for storing game data for example I download Forza horizon 4 but don’t know which to store it in.

    If I use i7 in fanless mode. Will it be similar performance to the i5?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  3 года назад

      Is there a fanless mode? If you turn the performance all the way to the lowest setting it is below the performance of the i5 by a considerable amount and it still will kick on the fan. Just not as loud. It’s actually pretty frustrating for me as I record with my i7 and would LOVE a fanless mode. If I’m missing info please share and I can test.

      @@TabletPro if you go into power settings. Edit power settings. There is a fan speed control and performance control. For battery and AC modes. Set fan down to 0. Set performance to something, gradually go up to see at what point it gets too hot. I don't have a SP7 so I don't know how hard you can push it. Can you try? 🤩

      I wouldn’t try to use it for more than 2-3 hrs with out an extra battery or charger. And just lower cpu intensive tasks. So like editing video and rendering or playing games will make it shorter
