I travel a lot for work, and I keep a “travel personal tech bag” ready. On a plane, it goes under the seat in front while my work laptops (I have two) go in overhead storage. I have a hulking Alienware gaming laptop with desktop components for heavy lifting at home (full Adobe CC, full MS Office, Cinema 4D). But I am fed up with the compromises I have to make on the M1 iPad: a small subset of gimped Adobe apps (Premiere Rush just isn’t Premiere Pro) and small set of gimped Office apps So I have an i5 Surface Pro 7 on the way, because it can run full desktop apps, not as fast as my AW A51, but TBH if it takes 5 minutes to render a video that the AW can do in 1 minute, I can live with that. I liken the iPad Pro to a V8 sports car chained to a huge boulder, namely iPadOS, while the Surface Pro is more like an ordinary car not held back by anything.
Well the performance is actually a pretty big jump The surface pro 7 i5 model is actually more powerful than the surface pro 6 i7 model and still remain fanless so is really quite great
@@misslucario7278 if you need more battery life go with the pro 6 other wise the i5 is very good investment you will have the usb c connection and charging .. fast charging and the powerful cpu and gpu.. I could run the windows mixed reality portal on it as you see in the video.
The i5 version of the surface pro 7 is actually more powerful than the i7 model of the surface pro 6 and is still fanless so is great for that performance bump

I agree with you but I don't think that will improve it a lot.. if you check iFixit disassembly of the surface pro 7 .. the battery is smaller the pro 6. I read about some throttling issues with the pro 7 too. so hold your horses to see where this is going to.
@@CyberTechVR yeah I'm not really impressed with the battery either. I start with 100 percent donwork for 10 min and look and it is down to 90. I don't really want to think about battery too much. I hope they can optimize at some point
Would you say the battery life is a big deal breaker for you? I got the i7 16GB 256 to use it mostly for school, media consumption and hopefully some light video editing.

I hope they can do something either with Windows on ARM or Meteor Lake to improve Surface performance to supercede iPad and be efficient enough too

Yes the battery life is so important for me but with the ability to charge via the USB-C I can live with it.
