Great video. I have a 2010 civic LX. It originally had the basic gray interior but swapped the LX-S interior in. I've done a lot with it. From April 2020 to now it went from 190k to 217k. Very solid and reliable car. Love love the 8th gens! My current car is actually my 2nd 8th gen. I hope to see many more videos on this car

My 2010 4 door ExL has 260K miles. Bought new. Steering rack leaked after just 10K and replaced under warranty. AC compressor failed at 180K. New catalytic converter at 200K. Replaced front struts at 230 K. New alternator at 250K. I do long commutes and transmission needs service every 30K. Oil changes every 5K. Engine, body and interior are like new. Have a paint touch up kit that I got at Walmart and every so often inspect the paint and touch any stone damage to the paint before they start to rust

Very nice! My DD is my 2007 Ex sedan. I have 301,000 miles on mine. Mine is an automatic tranny, still shifts like new. I had to replace my A/C compressor, I got a Denso from Amazon. The strange place for rust for me is the passenger door frame. I dremeled my rust off, but yes, very strange place and the seal looked and continues to look fine. I'm in PA and my chassis is rust free. Never garaged, go figure. Good luck!

Grats on the springs! I've got an 07 FA5 with 205k miles on it. I had almost the same issue with my A/C compressor, the clutch on it stopped engaging and i've been without a/c in it since 2015 lol. I just pulled the motor out of it this week, it needs a serious cleaning and with so many miles I might as well crack it open and replace all the gaskets and seals as well as drop in some new rods and pistons. Thus far the engine has been a tank, i've just had issues with the transmission, like the 3rd gear synchro snapping off and getting stuck in the shift fork. I also recently messed up and dumped the clutch thinking it was in neutral (i was on the phone, it was in my right hand and I failed at muscle memory. It snapped off a piece of metal that houses one of the springs. OOPS. I was worried that it was something wrong with the gearbox, but pulling the clutch out and seeing that was actually a relief.
I noticed my motor mounts have seen better days, especially the rear , it's completely shot. After getting used to an Fk8 my FA5 feels wayyyy too soft in every regard. Also can't stand how low the shifter sits in the cabin, it's like EG low. The FA5 also lift-off oversteers a bit too much for my tastes which luckily is easy to correct with FWD. At least with the FA5 it's really easy to heel-toe. I know I should probably just get rid of it, but it holds sentimental value to me as I bought it right after I got out of basic and had gotten to my unit in colorado, plus it was the first decent car I ever bought. Made the trip between Ft.. Carson and Maryland 6 times, each time with no break or rest. I was much younger then in 2011, sure as hell couldn't do that kind of thing now. Just driving to the tail of the dragon seemed very long and that's only 600 miles.
Hope your update has gone well. I've got my work cut out for me lol. All my door seals are pretty shot, but I haven't seen any rust like that.

I had the exact same problem with my ac compressor pulley bearing. The grinding sound was so loud after a while, I tried replacing the bearing myself but it was so seized that i broke the conpressor trying to pull the puley out😂 Ended up just replacing the compressor with a cheap uac, sound a bit wierd but does the job. Except for that, no problems with the car👌 I guess we can blame it on Sanden (compressor manufactur).

My EX is getting close to 130K so this was interesting to see. Thanks for posting! As for the rust in the rear doors, I've never seen that personally and looking it up on some forums didn't fair better results either. Maybe stick an endoscope up there through the hole to test your theory about water running down and getting trapped where the rust is. That should also give you an idea about the interior condition of that part of the door.

My sons 2010 LX-S has 101k so far. At 25K both drive (CV) axles were replaced under warranty. Apparently there was a bad batch of axles installed on some of these cars. I replaced both bump stops on the front struts as the left side had broken up causing a slight knocking sound over bumps. I installed two camber adjustment bolts on the front struts as the front tires wore on the inside. I suspect the control arms will need changing soon. The aux input for the radio broke so I did a youtube repair which did away with the automatic sensing . It works manually now ( have to select aux input manually). Other than those issues the car has been trouble free so far. Maintenance include oil changes , bleeding brakes , renewing power steering fluid , coolant change , transmission fluid drain and fills every 25k miles , cabin and engine air filters. The to do list in the near future will include spark plug change , serpentine belt and a new transmission filter.

What size are the wheels on your 8th Gen? One more question for a Civic enthusiast such as yourself: for oil changes I use the Mobile 1 oil that advertises one year or 10,000 mile endurance...do you trust that figure or do you change more often? I'm driving a 15 civic with only 73k on it but the oil gets dark not long after a change--much quicker than traditional oil. Is that normal? Also, ever since I bought the car in 2018 I've had to top up the oil or it will get too low between changes. I don't think it's burning oil and there are no leaks but it's disappearing somewhere. Some people are saying it just gets vaporized... Is anybody else experiencing these issues? Happy New Year!!

    • @NAUS2K
      @NAUS2K  7 месяцев назад +1

The wheels on it in this video are 2005 civic si wheels. They are 16 x 6.5 I think. They were just a temporary set. I would never go over 5000 miles personally on an oil change, no matter what the oil claims.

Do you have the Curt hitch, and have you had any interference issues with the trailer hitch? Not sure if somehow I botched the installation, but the top seam of the muffler would rub the hitch plate if I used both hangers on my FA5 (w/OEM muffler). Using 1 hanger helped so it didn't rub, but then at idle the whole exhaust would shake loosely. Love the hitch and versatility for bikes of course, but this annoyed me so much. I removed mine and will try to reinstall it next spring, but just wanted to see if you ran into a similar issue.

    • @NAUS2K

Yes I have the curt hitch and actually have an Si axle back on this car so everything should be identical. I do not have any interference issues there is plenty of room for the exhaust . @@NAUS2K Ah OK. I recently bought this car with 104k on it for 6850$ I was curious if I paid too much because I am in CA :D
Well I hope I don't have problems soon. My old car was a chevy and damn it sucked I had to put like over 3k on repairs etc. in 4 years which I bought for 2200$. It added up a lot just before I sold it.
Rack and pinion failed because it was leaking like yours. Had to put 850$ on it and that was a good deal because the shop did a little tax evasion for cash and some discounts.
I will cry if this car gets the same problem now, lol.
Also it sucks when cars start having problems right after you buy them. I had to change a serpentine belt and water pump for my first car literally 2 weeks after I bought it.
Thank you for the answer btw.
