Yes! I went through conversion therapy in South Carolina in a church setting while in high school in the late 90s. It did work in that it made me NOT want to be gay anymore and I did develop a sexual attraction to women. It failed because my sexual attraction to men never disappeared.

I actually think telling gay people that they should "suppress their sexuality" is extremely mentally damaging! Even the *MOST* religious people will say not to have sex *UNTIL* you are married. But telling gay people to not have sex with someone of the same gender, means that you expect a human being to *NEVER, EVER, AS LONG AS THEY LIVE* have a intimate, sexual relationship! Why should one group of people be expected to live a life without love, companionship, intimacy, romance, sex, etc? That's not realistic. We are human beings!
I'm a straight, married woman with two children. If society expected me to suppress my sexual attraction to men, that would be like telling me I have to instead have sex with woman... I wouldn't do it. I couldn't do it because I have zero sexual attraction to females. I am sexually attracted to men.. everything about men..the masculine voice, the masculine body, the physical strength of a man, the assertiveness of a man (well, unfortunately all those male traits are being attacked and considered negative), just everything.
Bottom line, we don't tell straight people to sleep with people of the same gender, so stop telling gay people they should sleep with women! They don't want to! Gay men are not sexually attracted to females! End of story.

I love you guys!! I was lucky enough to not have to go through conversion therapy took me a long time to even come out. Grew up as a Roman Catholic and now I'm spiritual. Conversion therapy is just wrong in my opinion! If the person wants to change (you can't, you are who you are) let them. But, you can't force anyone to do the same!! My gay lifestyle is Work, Home, Pay bills, Watch movies/tv, video games, and sleep haha!

@@dpeon242 I didn´t think it - I saw it by comparison. I was very shocked by that because i truly believed all the lies about homosexuality - that it´s normal, natural, to be celebrated. Then when I was healed of it I became whole.
I was shocked because so many things were healed and by comparison I saw how broken I was before and how much of a symptom of deep brokeness it was.
Also becuase of that I got angry with all the lies there about homosexuality and started to research the topic. It´s a sickness - it is not normal it is not natural and it´s a symptom of being internally deeply disturbed. Before it became social conagent you could see how strong connection is there between homosexualtiy and sexual abuse especially in childhood. And how much promiscuity and suicide there is in that lifesyle. Because it´s a symptom of deep deep brokeness. It´s not natural nor normal And there is healing from it and all the wounds. It´s amazing grace.

As far as Milo is concerned, I have a lot of thoughts and words for him, but I'll just say I'm really not a fan of him or what he does. In respect to conversation therapy, no it can't change you because that is who you are. There is absolutely no science to back it up and clearly disproves it. The most it can do is just really f*ck up your mind and teach you how to suppress who you really are and to be fueled with hate.

I know people who survived conversion therapy, but not until it pushed them to the brink of suicide. It's dangerous and a form of psychological violence. Many of those who once led such groups have repudiated it.
Oh, and btw, to me, all US accents sound camp/gay. There are gay accents in New Zealand (a friend if mine completed his MA thesis on them), and Australia, but the US accent *always* sounds gay.

Sounds to me you are forcing ideas upon others… Yes people do change and this is how and why it lasts! Once you recognize the creator created the Universe, the solar system, the earth, and people for a PURPOSE THEN it is easy to see he has a personality, created order, and plan for you! You then realize you are apart from His plan and fall on your face in grief looking for redemption! Then you recognize the God-man Jesus Christ and His purpose to redeem the elect! Then you trust in His works for remediation! Then you look inward and work the sin out of your life! You recognize the real meaning of Love and emotional attraction. You recognize how God established marriage to mirror His relationship with the church. You recognize how God put “opposite” people in your path. Opposite different sex people instead of mirror image same sex people. God established the male female relationship to help you to grow and be more like him!
