M50 Astro time lapse! Please do a video on this, omg.
It's on my list! Thanks for the reminder!
This is needed
Been watching your videos for a month and you’re so underrated. These videos are amazing and very informative and well put together. Great work!
Thanks bud.
agreee!
BEST CHANNEL EVER THANK YOU SO MUCH!! YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT FOCUSES ON THE M50 SO SPECIFICALLY!! MUCH LOVE, you definitely deserve more attention!!!!
You're reading my mind Mark! I have been using my kit lens at 22mm focal length. I like it more than 35mm that you suggest in your other video. I ordered it just before I saw this video. This really confirms my purchase.
Good choice, that 22mm is an excellent lens.
I am a sony a6400 user. For me my kit includes Sigma 16mm and 30mm f1.4, Viltrox 56mm f1.4 and sony 55-210 f4.5-6.3. This combo pretty much covers everything for me and the entire kit with 4 extra batteries and ND filters fit in my shoulder bag.
It’s awesome to wake up and see a new video from Mark. Great video and gives me some lenses to consider adding to my bag.
Thanks! These are the comments that keep me going with this channel!
Thanks Mark, excellent recommendations and tips along the way.
Love the camera titles at the bottom of the video! It allowed me to easily switch between camera types for quick comparison!!
Great to hear!
Great video! I really appreciate you using some of my work and appreciate all the help you have given me in selecting lenses.
No worries, thanks for sharing!
Thank you this is in my favs and is helping me a lot, as someone who has struggled in this industry to learn on my own and not have help. You have given me vital material to succeed thank you 🙏🏽👏🏼
I like prime lenses for when I'm going out specifically to shoot something in particular, but any other time the kit lens is frankly more than enough to get decently sharp photos with enough focal range to be good all around and only falls apart a little in lower light situations.
Purchased an M50 Mark II recently and your videos have being amazing. Extremely helpful, to the point and plenty helpful images included in each video. Im from Melbourne AUS and loved seeing some of my local areas featured in your videos. Keep up the good work mate, will see you at 100k subs in no time.
Thanks so much, I'm doing my best.
Have you use any other lens besides the kit lenses on your M50? If you do, what they're?
I'm wondering if I need an adapter?
BEST VIDEO..... THIS CHANNEL DESERVES MORE. QUALITY CONTENT.
Thanks.
What a great review. This really answers a lot of my questions about which lens to get for the type of photography I am interested in.
Great to hear!
Good explanation! I just got myself the Sigma 16mm EF-M lens, specifically for content creation for my YT channel. I used the 22mm pancake lens up to now, but I needed the additional wide angle the 16mm provide. Also, the Sigma 16mm has a very low f-stop, exactly what I needed for that nice depth of field it provides.
Great setup.
I added an M50II to an existing 5DIV/90D kit with a full set of L and EFS lenses. Having previously used the diminuative SL1, I thought I'd be using the EFS lenses with the adapter. But I picked up the Viltrox speed booster with low expectations, assuming it would be a gimmick, and was quickly suprised how it breathed new life into my old full-frame glass! My old 24-105 f4 IS L + SB performs similarly but effectively like a 27-120 f2.8 (as if it were on a full-frame body). It's one of those rare things where it's too good to be true, but it actually is true. Having said that, there are absolutely benefits from having native M mount lenses, and I intend to extend my collection beyond just the 15-45. I've carried lots of big, expensive gear on my travels before, but never got as good photos and videos as when I paired a little SL1 and 15-85 with a stabilized GoPro. No, the quality would certainly not compare to my 5DIV and 16-35 L. It was the best photos and videos because the gear itself was never an impediment. I could take it anywhere without concern. I'm looking very forward now to seeing how the M50II is going to improve upon that experience, with all of the features of an 80D but significantly smaller than even the SL1! Videos such as yours are invaluable to people like me learning the system. Thank you.
Great to hear! sounds like a good setup, good luck!
I just bought Sigma 56 mm and I'm loving every single moment of using it - for photos and videos with gimbal, the quality is dreamy :)
I just got it too, and feel the same.
Man I needed this video. Thank you from a newbie who just started using my M50 I bought a few years ago. I have a 11-22 mm and the 22mm which I both love for different situations.
Thank you for this video! I really appreciated how you broke everything down.
You are so welcome!
Nice explanation of the different focal lengths and great variety of lenses covered. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Peter, hope you are doing well and having a nice summer.
@@markwiemels my summer is just about over. I go back to teaching in the classroom on July 27th. I've been teaching online for the past 1 1/2 years due to the pandemic. How's Australia doing with it? Arizona is on the rise with the Delta variant. Stay safe and hope all is well with you and your family.

as a newbie in the photography industry looking to learn, I thank you for sharing this content. thanks!!
You are most welcome.
very helpful video! you explained things so clear and simple. thank you!
You're very welcome!
Best advice I've heard about learning focal length using zoom lens to determine what prime lens to buy. Thanks bro
So good to hear! Thanks!
Not sure why you haven’t blown up yet. Clear video, good scripting and not annoying voice like the other RUclipsrs.
Thanks, I'm doing my best.
Viltrox speed booster 172 euros. It used to cost around 100. It seems it is popular. The regular viltrox adapter goes for 40 and canon for 125. The booster does not support efs only ef
Appreciate the video! I have the m6 mark II and started off with the 15-45mm and the 18-150mm and wasn’t feeling it with the camera until I started getting a few primes. Big big difference. My collection is small but growing. This is a good reference to come back to when I’m ready for a new lens. Now how about a video on the best prime lens lineup paired with the ef to ef-m adapter (if there are more than the 50mm+. I.e I found the 40mm to be pretty great)
Yes, I love the shorty 40 too!
really well made video! thank you. i ordered the sigma 16mm mostly because i need it for video.
Good choice!
you are very helpful, thank you so much for your time and effort, hope you make it big and make them 100 m50 related vids you wanted to make
I hope so too!
Yes yes yes! Found this channel through my friends Heather and Tom. I have shot with the m50 for the last two years. I am still am, but I recently upgraded my livestream setup with a Sony a6400 (sigma 16mm 1.4) and a secondary angle with the a6000. Which before I was using a Logitech Brio 4k. Buttt I am not tempted to using the 6400 to film my normal videos. Love this info on the m50!
Great perspective with the focal length and testing with the kit lens. Never thought about that!
Sound like a great setup. The great thing about the M50, is that it’s just bullet proof, it’s ultra-reliable and the autofocus is almost like a mind reader, it just knows! If you like the M50, the M6 Mark II is the upgrade to the M50, it’s one one of the best cameras on the market and hardly anyone knows about it. It shoot 4K full sensor too. (Side note; Love Tom and Heather’s stuff as well, such good people)
@@markwiemels great feedback! And the main reason sticking with my m50 right now rather than switching to filming with the a6400 is because of work flow. I have the m50 down
Good info thanks
That 28mm macro lens looks really interesting 😊 Actually forgot that it was in the lineup of EF-M lenses. Nice video and walkthrough on the different lenses 👌🏻
I really like it, and in super macro mode it's over 1:1 magnification.
Thanks for the comparison information 👍
No problem 👍
Really great information. Thank you
You're right brother.
The first few minutes IS wisdom
Wish i had known this before i bought sigma 16mm.
Now its just lying around, while i mainly use the kit lens😑
Yes, you’re not alone, that is probably the most ‘inappropriately’ purchased lens for the M series.
Excellent overview which is extremely useful for a beginner like me! Thanks or that! Will have a look at your other videos.
Awesome, thank you!
Your videos have been super helpful! I just found your channel, so now I have to go and binge watch everything!!! LOL
Thank you! I'm glad someone is watching :-)
I have a Rokinon 12mm that I use for cooking videos and I love it
Yes, it's a super lens.
great point. i didn't know how to choice my lenses when i bought my canon, my first camera. i got m50 and i use 11-22 for travel vlog 95%of time. and i have 18-150 too.image stabilization. Is important on lens for my (m 50 doesn't have) image stab. BUT in 2021 getting m50 doesn't worth it anymore. at least for video. my phone 11 pro si almost same and is better on k4 video (daylight). i will upgrade to sony a6400 just a small step, but great step for slow motion and 4k.
Have a look at the M6 Mark II also, I chose it over the Sony and have a video on the channel about the M6 vs the A6400.
Mark great videos not too complicated very informative thank you
Thank you for your kind words!
I have the following prime lenses for my M100 and M6 Mk2. I have the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 and 22mm f/2.0.
On top of them, I have bought the following TTArtisan lenses ; 17mm f/1.4, 23mmf/1.4, 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.2, the Voightlander LM 28mm f/2.0 Ultron and the Voightlander LM 35mm f/2.0 APO. The last two is used via a Leica M -- EOS-M Adaptor. They all wotk very well on my two cameras. I love the fully manual lenses more especially the two from Voightlander. The Voightlander lenses provide excellent image quality and very easy to use. The main advantage of fully manual lenses is it does not hunt in low light and can also do zone focusing easily, not possible with the AF lenses.
Also, the excellent Sigma 56mm f1.4.
What say you ? Would you recommend what I have ?
Thats a super setup, the only think you might be missing is a super wide, like the Rokinon 12mm.
@@markwiemels I have the EF-M 11-22mm f/4.0-5.6 which is quite good. Not a prime though but I have the Laowa 10mm f/2.0 on my Lumix GX9. Have been doing photography for about 40 years. Recently, I have decided to use Voightlamder Leica M mount lenses due to its versatility. If I need to change the brand of camera or go full frame again I just have to buy the relevant adaptor for it. In that way, I can use my Leica M mount lenses forever.
Usually, I don't like to go too wide like a 15mm on full frame. Its not a perspective I would use often.
I must say the TTArtisan APS-C manual lenses that I have are unexpectedly good. I have no issue with them except for tne 23mm f/1.4 which has a bit of uneveness in its plane of sharpness at certain f/stops. They are very affordable too. The Voightlanders which I bought are excellent.
You can check out some of my photos at my fb group called " Photography beyond format ".
Love the Melbourne pics and videos you've shot to use in the video :-)
Thank you, you have really helped me figure out which lens I should use for any situation. You mentioned the Canon 22mm as a good choice for photography or was it the 28mm F3.5 Macro? I do a lot of product photography, mostly flat lays and group shots. I don't do many super closeups. Thanks again!
I would look the 22mm f2 and the 50mm f1.8 with adapter as an affordable, but very good, 2 lens combo. I use both for product photography.
@@markwiemels thank you for your reply! I already have the 50 mm so just need to buy an adapter. Do you think an off brand would be okay? Thanks again!
@@KarenElaine yes. Just buy the Viltrox, works just as well.
Note, you want the Viltrox adapter, not the Viltrox speed booster.
Such a great informative video. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Hi, very informative video, thank you! :) Which lens would you recommend for a trip in Vietnam (photography only)? I was going for the Sigma 16mm but after watching your video I don't think it's the best choice
Thx for this really great explanation of primes. I’m a complete noob and thinking about getting first proper camera and this is so helpful! Greetings from 🇬🇧
You’re most welcome.
Great tip thank you very much
Good video and clear explanation,
So i found my best is 30mm sigma art lens f1.4. Next week I will order one. Thx for the video. 🤗
Good choice!
The 1st 3mins of this video was so much information 🙏🏾
Great to hear!
Great video really helpful information. My next purchase is either going to be the something around the 50mm area i think.
Yeah, some good options at that focal length too.
@@markwiemels Yeah i'm considering either the Viltrox 56mm or Sigma for my M50.
I just could never get excited about the Canon 50mm, and traded it in on a Tamron 45 mm, which I reach for far more often.
I own the EF-M 32mm which is just a very fine lens. We'll see what Canon does with the R APS-C line, and here's hoping they capture that same magic for a similar lens for that camera. In my experience, there never was an equivalent in the EF-S or non-L line up.
Yea, that 32 is magic.
I will be tapeing red carpet interviews indoors and I usually use my Sony CX900 Handycam. I want to try using my Canon M50 Mark 2. The lens I own are: Canon 24-105 F4(with Speedbooster)-Viltrox 33mm 1.4(with speedbooster)-Canon 50mm F1.8-(with speedbooster) Canon 22mm 2.0- 7Artisans 35mm 0.95 and 7artisans 55 mm 1.4. Which lens do you suggest would be best for video tapeing interviews. I have all the mics I need.
Which one should I choose for car photography??
Very informative and helpful to me. Thanks. (p.s. Loved your introduction!!)
Thanks! yes, I debated about intro! but I had to try, it truly is the most important part!
I got the viltrox 23mm but my I don’t know if I’m very happy. The sound that it makes when is the auto focus is too much …. How can I understand if the sound I hear is caused by a problem or if it is just normal?
Nearly all these lens went on my “list”. It took some time to enumerate them by priority because I have so many scenarios I would like to equip myself to shoot. To which, this video has been extremely helpful and Ive watched it numerous times.
My first purchase beyond the m50 kit lens was the 22mm f/2. I use it to take head shots of my oldest sons theatre group.
I bought the m50 to photo and film my two HS aged boys. One of which plays sports and the other is in theatre. And we’re a rock climbing family. I need a telephoto lens that allows me to capture the action up close. Finding a lens for outdoor sports and climbing is not a challenge as low light is of no concern. However, finding a reasonably priced telephoto that is fast enough for the low light in a theatre setting is my challenge. I’d like to simply purchase the 70-200mm f/2.8 and a speed booster then call it a day but that lens is pricey.
Idk if a native m-mount lens with a polarizing filter would work? Or an ef lens with a speed booster? Or perhaps a fast ef prime, an adapter and a 2x extender? Or bite the bullet and save $ for that 70-200mm f/2.8? Or will the 70-200mm f/4 be adequate? Any suggestions that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thx Mark.
Low light telephoto is always a problem, it means bigger more expensive lenses. The speed boost is cool, but noticeably hurts image quality, it can be cool for more vintage/artistic looking shots, but not for detail and fidelity (use a standard adapter, not the speed booster). The 70-200 f2.8 would be very nice, but depending on how low the light is, f2.8 may not even be enough. thats something you could test with your 22mm f2, see if f2.8 is bright enough in those situations. Another option would be a fast prime lens, maybe even a manual focus vintage lens adapted.
@@markwiemels terrific, that’s a good idea to test with my f/2.. b/c as you said, the f/2.8 may not even be enough.
I appreciate the advice and it reaffirms my need to look at a fast prime; 100 or 135mm. I recently stumbled across the yongnuo 100mm f/2 which is very budget friendly. In the meantime, I’ll have get front row seats and test out my new 22f/2. Thx again, Mark.
@@DansEarway I have not tested tested Youngnuo, but 100mm f2 could be in the ballpark for sure.
Great video. Just a quick question: is the Rokinon 12mm f2 available for Canon EF-S mount? I can't find one online. Thanks!
Which lense is best for music video shooting
Nice shots of Melbourne.
Thank you for this video. You really helped me a lot. Just one question... Can i use any of the lenses on my Canon M6 Mark II ?
You gained a like and a subscriber.
Thanks. Yes, same lens mount, EF-M.
Your video is really crisp and clear on every lens. Were you shooting in 4K or 1080p? I would assume 4K because of the clarity but I know the focussing can be a pain so I thought I would ask.
This was shot in 4K on the M6 mark II, it’s the next model up from the M50.
Can you share the LUT you are using on the footage 11:36 to 11:48
Thats just the Faithful Picture style, less one or 2 on the saturation and contrast, straight out of camera.
@@markwiemels 🔥
Very nice video thanks for sharing it with people who really don't have idea to deal with this lense stuff.
I bought m50 markii and I m struggling with the settings.
What are the best settings for drawing videos to record with the original lense 15-45 came with camera. I mean just trying to avoid buying more lense
Thanks a lot. 🙂
You mainly need big soft lighting. Shoot manual settings, F5.6-F8. Hard to explain in a comment, I will add it to my list of videos to make.
Great video!
Thanks!
I have an M5 and (probably) too many primes. :-) 7Artisans 7.5, 2.8, Canon 22, 2, Canon 28 Macro, Sigma 30, 1.4, 7Artisans 35 1.2, and Canon 50, 1.8. But, I would happily trade a stop or two of aperture for a more compact lens with something like f2.8 max aperture. Sadly, I doubt Canon will release any more lenses for this mount which probably means third parties will probably stop developing them too. BTW: The 7Artisans 35, 1.2 is one of my favourites despite its flaws. It must be the size. :-)
Thanks, I will check out that lens, as I was reading you comment I was planning to ask how you liked it.
@@markwiemels I have the Mark 1 version which is very retro in styling and optical design. It's not the sharpest lens, but there is a certain "something" to its rendering that I like. Plus the whole manual focus/aperture and the focal length take me back to my first SLRs which all shipped with a 50mm prime as kit.
Seems Canon already moving away from EF-M, but I just had to snap up the Canon 32mm when I saw one for $90 off the price.
I love that “classic 50” (equivalent), and so compact with this fun little M50 MkII.
I find the 15mm end of the kit lens quite serviceable but here I am - looking at primes😛
Great content, thanks.
I just finished editing my 32mm review video, you will love that lens.
It arrived today, and it's great!
So good I'm almost not salty about their attempted price gouging for the lens hood.
Great video, got the Rokinon for my M50 for astrophotography, unfortunately I having problems setting it up for pictures , I connect it but it won't allow me to use the shuttle button , any help would be much appreciate.
I'm sure you have sorted it by now, but in the menu, take photo without lens, or something like that.
Awesome job mate. Just a quick question: which lens would you recommend for nature, beaches videos?
Rokinon or Sigma?
Sigma, it's a bit more versatile.
I really need to know what lens for the canon m50 mark 2 (native or adapted) that you recommend for wedding photography please
really informative!
Thanks!
Hi ! You have great videos! i recently bought a Canon EOS M50 Mark II, I will be using it for our vehicle detailing business, photos are usually taken in daylight. Which lens do you think would be best? Thank YOU!
That is really hard to say, but I would start with getting experience with the kit lens
recently i answered the ever long question, which lens would you keep if you could only keep one of your lenses, the sigma 100-400mm won in the end, but, heres the thing, when i pit all my prime lenses against each other, and i have alot it came down to two, the canon efm 32mm 1.4 and the vintage Pentacon M42 mount 50mm ƒ1.8.
The reason the pentacon held on to the more modern canon was the amazing render it has, so it came down to the auto focus hit rate of the 32mm vs the render of the fully manual pentacon,
when thinking about the images from the 32mm its yep, nailed 99% of every one, with the pentacon the hit rate was alot less because of the manual focusing but the wow factor and smile factor were alot bigger., we not just talking abot getting the shot but really creating the image.
as mentioned in a one lens only situation the sigma 100-400 won its battle in the zoom lens shootout and alas it had to be the winner over the top prime lens which was kinda sorta the pentacon,
so no, you really don't need to spend a crippling amount on a very good and outstanding prime lens, both the adapter and the pentacon lens cost less than £50 together,
I hear crazy good thing about that 100-400, thanks for sharing!
How do you find the sigma 100-400 with an m50? And what adapter do you use with it?
For video purposes only how loud is the canon 32nn efm focusing motor, would a boom mic pick up the humming?
Virtually silent, I don’t think my on cam are mic even pics it up.
This video really helped me when I bought the Canon 22mm. I love it for taking photos but for video I can't get as good results as with the kit lens and my 50mm. The footage looks blown out even when the exposure meter is centered. Any tips for getting good footage with this lens?
hmm....this is a hard one, there is no technial reason I can think of that this would happen. Try turning on the histogram, in the menu system, and use that to guide your exposure.
@@markwiemels Great idea...I forgot all about the histogram.
Tnx bro..
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩😍
You are most welcome!
What great information you make it even harder to decide :-) What are your thoughts on combining the VILTROX EF-EOS M2 Speed Booster with any particular lens to maximize lens usage scenarios even more?
Speed booster is an interesting one, you loose detail and clarity, but gain some really strong, almost vintage looking, background blur. I think it's pretty cool, but its not for everyone, and it's not for someone seeking maximum sharpness. You would really need to study some sample images to know if that look is for you or not. I find most people either love it or hate it.
What lense would you use for zooming in on a football field? I am trying to get good zoomed in pics at my sons sporting events and the lense that came with my Canon m50II doesn't zoom in at the depth that I need.
EF-M 55-200.
Thanks for the video :)
Is the 11-22mm lens better for vloging videos than the 12mm f2?
Yes.
Can we use tamron 24mm-70mm G2 lens with adapter for canon m50 mark Ii ?
Thanks for the info! Do you have a suggestion for a lens that gives great bokeh but doesn't give that odd lemon shape to the lights on the edges of the photo?
Not off the top of my head, I would have to specifically look at them. I have always like the Viltrox 56mm, but I'm not sure about the bokeh shape.
14:45 Concerning the Canon 28mm F3.5. How big of an advantage is this lens over using focus tubes on something else? I went the focus tubes route but I've heard you rave about this lens a couple of times and it's one of the only Canon EF-M lenses that I don't currently own.
hmmm... I have not tested them side by side, it is a very specialised lens, I still think it really is for people wo do a lot of Marco. Once you take away the macro component, it's a 28mm lens at 3.5 aperture, which isn't very exciting. I will try to do a video on macro tubes vs the macro lens.
@@markwiemels My macro tubes were $20 I think. However they get VERY close which isn't always what I want. I find that my normal lenses don't get close enough and the macro tubes get too close. Maybe I'm using them wrong.
What lens would you recommend to do family portraits for the m50? I currently have the 50mm 1.8. But wanting to take photos of families of 4-5 with a background
Viltrox 23mm f1.4 would be my suggestion.
@@markwiemels does M50 needs adapter for that lens?
hey Mark ! appreciate knowledge that you are sharing with us! i am new on this channel so if you don't mind , would you tell me what monitor do you use to edit? THANK YOU!
I use an older ultrawide dell, but should be a link to what I recommend now in most of my videos.
Hi Mark. Have you by any chance tried the 10mm ef-m from Rokinon, and if so, how does it compare to the 12mm in quality? I notice it's about $200 more in price.
I have not, so I'm not sure. I don't think it's a native ef-m lens, so you may need an adapter.
Bro thank you! Im following you !
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your video. Sorry I'm French and don't understand technical English very well. But, for Portraits use only my question is really in terms of image rendering, is the Sigma 56 f1.4 really better than the canon 32 f1.4 and if so how is it better?
Otherwise, For scenery or street photography I would buy the 22mm f2 ef-m. These Lenses would be mounted on Canon eos M6 MII.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Best regards,
Philgood ...
The canon 32mm is probably a sharper lens, but I’m not 100% sure. At 56mm you get more background blur, one lens is still not better than the other, so much as you need to work out what focal length you works for you.
@@markwiemels Thank you very much for your answer.
Best regards,
Philgood
Hi Mark! Great vídeo. Btw, have you shoot more in raw or in jpeg?
I actually shoot RAW and JPG at the same time. Sometimes I use the JPG, sometimes I use the RAW. In the examples I use in the videos, you are seeing both straight out of camera JPG's and edited RAW images.
Did you shoot all videos with the different lenses using the M50? I use a M50 Mark II with a Sigma 16mm f1.4 and i can't get even remotly close to such a noise free video in dark conditions like shown. Or did you light it up heavily in post?
Some footage is from the M50, but some is the M6 Mark II, noise is a problem with the M50 at high ISO.
hi, can you please advise if between Canon M50 mark II and M6 Mark II which body do you think is the best ONLY for photography -with any of the lenses described in your video ( I never used this M body mount for video). I am v.v. attracted to M6 mark II (due to higher pixels and 32 mm lens), however the missing EVF on M6 mark II, makes me to look after M50 Mark II. I've used M5 until now and was very pleased with integrated EVF. Thanks.
M6 II is a better camera for sure.
After watching your video which is VERY informative, I have question about the lens used. I have camera body of M6 mk2 planning to get prime lens. My purpose is JUST taking portrait picture (whole body, head to waist, and face), which prime lens suitable for my situation?
Viltrox 56mm or Sigma 56mm.
Thanks for the video a great little camera and I love the M system pity Canon don’t appear to have any interest in it anymore. Would love a native 70-300 or even a 400mm. The lack of lens support at the long end is a great reason to move to Fuji or Sony
Yes, Fuji make the best APS-C lenses, by far, I also shoot Fuji.
just buy the EF to EFM adapter for less than $100 and use any long canon lens you want. no one cares if big telephotos are native or not because the are BIG so the size advantage of using a tiny adapter on them is not an issue.
Hi there, do you offer some presets for lightroom?
It's something Im working on. Thanks for asking.
For each of those numbers, do you multiply it by 1.6 still?
Best to just ignore the concept multiplying for the crop factor. It really only effects field of view, and is really only useful if you have shot with a full frame camera for many years, and know those focal lengths.
You should probably clarify the real focal length equivalences of each/all these lenses. 😊
Can you pls do a similar video for zoom lenses for m6II/M50?
Good idea. Thanks.
at the end, if you are not a macro guy nor an astro guy nor a portrait guy, if you are a guy who wants something versatile after your video wins the viltrox 23mm 1,4. And it wins over the canon 32 mm 1,4 because the viltrox is better for videos (but at the same time very good also for photos, even though the canon is not good for videos but the best one for photos). I think I will buy the viltrox... but I've heard that the viltrox is not so quick for the autofocus and it has a vignette problem. You are the only one, or one of the few people on youtube who doesn't talk about this issue.
I have never had an issue with the Viltrox autofocus at all, I'm a surprised to hear that, all the EF-M lenses are STM motors, so none of them are very fast, but I find the Viltrox performs like my other lenses. The vignette is present on all lenses of this type, including the EF-M 32mm, it's not at a level where I notice it, or find it to be an issue. I think it's important to keep in mind, that a lot the lens "testing" on RUclips, does show the lens performance, but may not actually be reflected in real world results or use.
The problem Mark is that I don't like being told what to do, so if you tell me not to skip ahead then that's exactly what I am going to do 😉😁 Your video quality is great BTW.
Lol. That’s a good one, you would get along well with my kids… they don’t listen to me either.
1:40 - 2:50 Best advice. Good video- just subbed
Thank you for your kind words!
@@markwiemels 😘
Awesome video. I will come back to write down the lens I need from this list. Maybe you could do A video on night time street photography. Night time shooting is intimidating to me.
I will add it to the list, that would be a good video to do.
Solid Mark. I hope you post this on all the m50 groups and the adminis pin it at the top haha.
Yes, I meant to do that! Thanks for the reminder.
I like the 50/1.4 over the 50/1.8
Yeh, it’s sharper for sure.
