Ok here's the thing. Saltines exist for three reasons. One: when you're sick to your stomach they are the thing to eat. Two: for soup, especially tomato soup. Dip them. And three: when you're starving and your mom hasn't gone shopping, you eat them and be glad they're there. I've also heard some people crumble them up on top of casseroles or use them to bread chicken.
Hunk of cheese w/summer sausage on a saltine...
Chili - pile a spoonful of chili on them...
And of course, peanut butter crackers...
The only time a saltine tasted good to me was when I "indulged", and broke keto. Otherwise they're just crumbly air.

Where I live I can hop in my car and drive for 3000 miles and still not be to the other coast, and all I need is a drivers license. (Don't even need that if you're flying)

We had our first visit to Walmart a few years ago after a 2 week trip to Disney. Daughter and I spent 3 hours there before she and grandchild flew home. Best 3 hours of our lives.

When I was little my mom was poor so we would eat those crackers all crumbled up in a bowl of milk instead of cereal... to this day my siblings and I love to see the faces of our friends when we talk about our fondness of crackers and milk lol

Jennifer Some Walmart stores actually have both. One is your standard self checkout, the other, you scan your items as you shop, & then use the special registers in the self checkout area. I've not tried the scan & go, though.

So to give you a run down on Saltines...
All my American life Saltines are usually the thing to turn to when you're sick...especially to your stomach...
They're not really meant to be appealing or delicious...
That's why they're just as they are...
They usually serve them in hospitals and people with low blood sugar or stomach nausea issues usually keep them on hand...
I even have some in my car...
They're basically flour...water...salt and a few other things that settle a yucky stomach...
You can even put them in soups...like chicken soup when you're sick or I even put them in cream of mushroom soup instead of oyster crackers...
So to clarify...dont go buying Saltines in America thinking they're going to be this wonderful thing...lol
They're usually used for when you're sick so they're not all that enticing just on they're own...
UNLESS...you put some peanut butter on them...
Then they're not quite so plain...

Saltines are for soup, and to eat with peanut butter. I also enjoy them with tuna salad or chicken salad on occasion. I agree that maybe Lia is looking for Ritz or Captain’s Wafers?

“Who sends a Halloween card?” 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve received a Halloween card from my grandparents since the year I was born. It is kind of weird if you’re not from here, but it always seemed so normal to me. My kids get Halloween cards from their grandparents too. I think we just like to send cards and money to our loved ones and will use any holiday as an excuse to do so!
My mum used to send cards for all occasions. Her philosophy was it was better than getting a bill in the mail.

Anyone who visits another country has to visit the local grocery stores to get an idea of what the people of that country eat. The most interesting grocery stores outside of the United States, in my opinion, are found in Germany and Iceland.

I agree in general, but I think they must have realized how cheap (in the bad sense) the product was because the "fur" came off at one point. Walmart clothing is not of the highest quality, so buyer must beware. Some good bargains, though, if you shop with care.

My Mom sends Halloween cards to her grandchildren, with cute stickers all over the envelope, as a way to keep in touch and let them know she is thinking of them. She also sends cards for Thanksgiving, St Patrick’s day, Easter...etc. pretty sure she is singlehandedly keeping Hallmark in business.

Lola Wave my grandma does the same. She used to send boxes of candy and little treats for each but now that there are not only her 4+ spouses and the 10 of us grands, but most of us are married and have made great-grands she sends a card and a $1. It still makes me feel special and I love seeing her handwriting.
