I'm from Minster, Sheppey originally. Wish the island was still like this
Many a time I polished the big slide with wax in one hand and a cloth in the other . Very difficult at times as I kept on sliding trying to polish . Good times .
Before the new horrible sea wall was built. My Auntie used to say it ruined the town.
That's great to see that again . Those were the days when I had to pluck up courage to go on the ghost train . Richmond Street beach looked so inviting compared to now . I remember when it was rammed and the great times we had on ' The Raft ' ( pre HSE of course ) . Great upload thanks .
Thanks for sharing and rekindling the memories.
I lived there from the early t1980s and left in 1996 - I can see that from this film it had already severely declined by the 80s... and continued to decline.... Last time I was there was 2008 and the old Woolworth which had been there for many years and was the center of the shopping in the town had been boarded up along with many other places. Such a shame that Sheerness was probably quite nice at some point but well before the 1980s
Used to love going on the Big Wheel. Me and my younger brother used to go on the Veteran cars when we were children.
Such lovely memories.
I used to love that slide ❤
Not fat people in those days…
