To be fair Atlas was holding up the sky because he was one of the Titans that lost to Zeus, Hades and Poseidon during the war. So people don't care for him because he was an "evil" god that was only holding up the sky as punishment.

Then he sent Auqaman & son to their doom down a sliding rock into lava. (He was chained to the rock and had to cut off his hand to get out.) We just watched that episode today!! :D
I thought he cut it off to save his son (something to do with his hand being caught, and cutting it off was the fastest way to save his son)
The ironic part is that outside of this old cartoon, Aquaman is rather badass:
- He can survive in pressures that would crumble submarines like a candy wrapper.
- Being able to survive this pressure also makes him very strong. Not quite enough to punch out Supes, but at least he can throw the Titanic at him.
- He effectively owns the oceans, aka the majority of Earth
- All undersea creatures are his to command, including whales, hordes of sharks, giant squids and any cthulhuesque nightmare the writer can come up with
- And then there his army of loyal Atlantean soldiers, who have far more advanced weaponry than the people on land.
Sadly, Aquaman never had someone like Tim Burton change his mainstream image.
(Seriously, if Batman was just a bit less popular back in the day, most of us would only know him as Adam West)

I think Aquaman is a bit underappreciated. This guy could be keeping the mass armies of Cthulhu and his kin at bey and no one even knows it!
That brings up an interesting question. What would happen if Cthulhu woke up in the DC Universe. Would Aquaman be able to contain him? Would he just go crazy like people normally do? I'm actually curious, because Cthulhu looks kind of like a sea creature, but he's from a different Universe thing

@@fukkthisnewupdate8882 I'm gonna crash into this comment section to answer this question, but actually, Aquaman wouldn't be able to control Cthulhu (as far as my knowledge on Aquaman goes) because Cthulhu is actually from space, not our ocean, he just resides underwater and has an affinity for it. Now Godzilla Aquaman could totally control! I hope that helps!
Poor Aquaman. One lame cartoon and now EVERYONE (or at least everyone who hasn't read comics or seen the good shows he has been in) thinks he sucks. Even though, you know, he can call upon sharks and sea monsters, has bullet resistant skin, can lift a building over his head, can control water and technically owns two thirds of the planet.
Aquaman is like a battleship. Pretty impressive in the water, worthless on land. Which would be fine if most comics actually took place in the water, but with only a handful of exceptions (most of which are custom-tailored to Aquaman,) comics take place on land or in space, both of which are far more heavily populated.
Um, no, Aquaman isn't that useless on land. Again, super-strength, durability, plus he could make a sword out of the water particles in the air and slice you in two, or just impala you with the TRIDENT OF POSEIDON that he caries around.
He's actually a LOT more badass than people give him credit for, for most of the reasons you've already said

Thing is Atlantis is, as far as I know, the only thing resembling a human society underwater that Aquaman can interact with, and that obviously doesn't span the entire ocean. Sure, the underwater ecosystem is pretty diverse, but without the diversity in humanoid societies to match that of the surface world, Aquaman's exploits are bound to get monotonous no matter what you try.

You see Jon, the best explanation i found is actually a pretty good one. In an episode of the early 2000's Justice League animated series when Aquaman returned home to Atlantis from the world pease treaty (at metropolis or what ever it takes place i don't realy care neither did anyone else) Aquaman found out that his brother Orm hired Deadshot to kill Aquaman. But Orm kidnaps Aquaman chains him to a rock near his baby son (which is pretty sick the more you think about it). As Orm pushes the rock into a pit of lava thus killing and/or burning him and his baby boy. As Aquaman is able to break out his right hand he chops of his left hand to save his son leaving him a hook hand giving us a pretty badass climax with Aquaman teaming up with the Justice League and killing his brother in the process. In the comics Black Manta just chops his hand because ...............Ehhh.

I had this game... my aunt got aqaman for me for xmiss, cause it was like 5 dollars. worth Christmas gift ever. until video game reviews like jontron came along I really thought I was the only one that hated this game. I really tried to like this game, everything Jon said about this game is exactly how I felt when I first played this game.

I dont think the developers should be blamed for this... What usually happens with these types of games is a studio (lucky chicken) comes out of the industry, fresh and ready to make games. Since they have no experience, they are forced to take contracts that they know are bad, yet have no choice because they just dont have any fucking money. From what I've seen, most developers openly admit that they knew the games they made would be horrible and that they were ashamed to work on things like this...
And once a studio is used as a trash bin where bad game licenses are deposited, it enters a cycle where every company sees the studio as a place to pump out popular licenses. Then, they never get a real contract that they care about, and are consistently forced to make horrible games because they need the contract money. This practice has pretty much been existent for the entirety of the gaming industry.
However, there are examples of a few studios who have broken this chain where, instead of a trash license that they didn't care about, they were given a contract for a game that they had a passion for. For instance, look at Double Helix, whose previous contracts included things like Green Lantern and GI Joe... They were given a contract to remake an old fighting game called killer instinct. They realized the opportunity to break the cycle, and went all-out for that game, and it turned out pretty fucking good.
But in the end, this is what happens to an underwhelming minority of studios. Most just continue their existence, pumping out barbie or aquaman games. They know what they make is horrible, yet they're forced to keep going. Cut them some slack. It sucks to be in a position like that.

@@lamrethal695 In Spyro 1, the invisible walls are marked off with pillars on the very edge of the levels. The panels between the pillars are invisible so, yes, they are technically invisible walls. Also, when you bump into them, there's a ripple on said invisible wall, and if you have the rumble turned on, your controller will vibrate. 😑

Here's the irony, as of today, aquaman stands as the best movie in the DCEU run of movies.
Kinda proves a point of, it doesn't matter how goofy a concept is, as long as you have good directors, writers and actors, you can make anything entertaining.
Bruh yes! I never cared about Aquaman as a kid, I was not a fan at all. But when I saw the DC live action movie I fuckin LOVED it! I mean it felt so grandiose, so massive in scale, like a super hero adventure quest akin to something like lord of the rings, I watched it like three times and I almost never rewatch super hero movies.

Aquaman is my favorite misrepresented super hero by far. Canonically in the comics, he has control over all life that evolved from marine life(every being on earth), leap 6 miles in a single bound, lift more than 20,000 tons, swim at speeds in excess of 6700 mph, telepathy in a very large and undefined radius, and that bomb-ass magical trident forged by the Gods. There's a ton more but it becomes a little redundant. Basically, weather control, ability to turn into an ocean, the usual.
If Aquaman was ever portrayed in popular visual media as he appears in the comics, he wouldn't be the joke he is today.
