You can listen to Brandon's full story here: • Why he's going to pris... .
Brandon and I have been friends since I graduated from high school (a very long time ago). We have kept in touch through the years and he has continuously been a positive, supportive, trustworthy, and encouraging friend. He is a genuine and amazing person and I feel extremely fortunate for our friendship. He is also a competent and loving father with over 15 years of sobriety who is still actively involved in sobriety programs & assistance programs. Recently he was sentenced to 3 and a half years in federal prison for a non-violent offense that occurred years ago. Last week, he flew to Los Angeles to visit friends one more time before he begins his sentence at the end of November. Brandon has been using ASMR as a tool to cope with his situation and has willingly agreed to participate in today's session. He is not used to being on camera and was feeling a little bit nervous, so please refrain from any negativity.
I know Brandon will get through this difficult time and he has an amazing support system to help him through it. I am aware of the stigma associated with incarceration, but it is often just that - a stigma. If you would like to send Brandon an encouraging or positive message, please leave it below or send him a message on Instagram:

    Brandon,
I have 3 years and 10 months sober and I am involved in the rooms of NA and AA. It wasnt until I got clean, that alot of the stuff I did while I used, came back to haunt me. But being sober also helped me face my shit, and unfortunately I too, went to jail for a little while. I didn't get to see my kids and that was so hard. Having the support of my family and friends tho was the only reason I got thru it. They wouldnt have been there if I wasn't sober so I was grateful for that. I know it seems very scary and daunting, but you will get thru it. 3 years isnt forever. I am thinking of you, and I know you'll be okay.

My uncle was unjustly and unfairly incarcerated for a non-violent offense as well by a system that is deeply flawed and deeply inadequate to our modern society, and he is my greatest hero - serving his entire life as an EMT and firefighter saving hundreds of lives in an underserved rural area where he is often one of the only responders. Jail does not define you, even being stripped of years of your life doesn't define you. I hope your friend is able to stay strong and stay hopeful for a better tomorrow, sending my thoughts and support.

The US is incredibly trigger happy when it comes to incarceration, and fails virtually 100% of the time at rehabilitation and integrating ex-inmates back into society. In this case, it seems like the prison system is actually ripping a valuable member away from the community, and forcing him into a system of prison gangs. Nobody benefits here.
Prison should not be vengeance, or punishment. Prison should be a solution. Prison should keep society safe, and redirect offenders to a positive lifestyle. The current system fails on all counts: it is vengeful and punishing. It's part of the problem, and society is less safe because virtually no one comes out a better person.

Hi from Baltimore! I’ve met Brandon a few times around town and have been following him on social media for years. I’m also a huge proponent for ASMR. I have extreme anxiety disorder to the point of having been prescribed anti-depressants for treatment. Years ago I stopped taking them, and about a year ago I discovered ASMR and it’s basically become my go-to treatment for anxiety.
I would love to be able to participate in the book club and also send Brandon letters. Please keep me posted!
I’m so excited to be a new subscriber to your channel - the more ASMR channels I discover, the better. It’s truly amazing to see a guy so open in the ASMR community. Not sure if Brandon remembers me, but either way please send him my love and support. 💕

Brandon, Incase you come across this comment, I figured I’d share a little tip to help you out with what you’re about to go through..... I understand that this does not resonate or sound appealing to everyone, but my boyfriend spent his time in prison reading the Bible front to back. He is not the most religious person but found solace in the readings that promoted personal strength and ways in which one can better themselves. Good luck.

My heart goes out to you Brandon and also my respect and congratulations at 15 years clean and sober. I’m also in recovery and that’s an absolutely massive achievement and one I hope will give you resilience, strength and hope right now. Try to hold on to your truth at this challenging time and take comfort from the love and care that your friends and family obviously have for you. Love and best wishes xx

I know that I'm late in saying this: stay strong Brandon, it will get better!! The stigma of being in prison is no laughing mater. I was down for three years myself, and so I know how it feels to be away from loved ones because of some foolish choice that was made in the past. I'm so glad that he has an amazing support system to help get through the tough times ahead. Julia, you are a gem that shines brightly in so many people's lives!!!

Brandon, I'm also in recovery and have been incarcerated for a long period of time. I'm not going to say it's easy by any means, and I really feel for you. My advice would be to try your best while your there to stay in the moment. Things get really rough when you start thinking about all the things going on in the outside and things you might be missing ect... try to stay active and read ALOT! It will really help stay out of your head and thinking about the situation you are in. Also meditate a lot. It keeps you on the moment. And get yourself into a routine that really helps as well. Good luck to you, sending love man.

Great video! Two of my brothers are in jail currently. One for 11 months. The other for roughly 4 years. It’s hard being without them and knowing where they have to be. But Brandon, please do not worry too much about your time that you have to serve. It will go fast! My brothers have told me that as long as you stick to your self, keep yourself busy, and DON’T JOIN A GANG, you will do fine. Maybe you could go to barber school! That’s what my brother Josh is doing. Make use of your time and it won’t seem so much like a waste of your years. You’ll get through this! I’ll be praying for you and your family and I hope that you have many people who will write to you; that’s what I do for my brothers to keep their minds straight and focused on positive things. Keep your head up!🖤

Third year going back to this video, and I’m hoping and praying that Brandon is doing well, especially post covid outbreak.
If you’re still close to him, and he would be open to it, I would love a follow up when he is ready. If it hasn’t changed, I’m sending good energy for him in his last six months

Getting in front of the camera at this time is such a valuable gift for everyone watching. Most people (including myself) have preconceived notions about what a "criminal" looks and acts like. When I watch this video, I just see a friend and father.

As a mother, I know the hardest part of what you’re facing is being away from your child. Remember, our children’s opinions of us are predominately shaped by the love we give to them. I’m deeply sorry you have to go through this and I’ll keep you and yours in my prayers.
Edit: Didn’t think I wanted to share this, but it might help remind you of the sometimes cruel and fickle nature of life and just offer some perspective... I’m 30, my husband is 34. We’ve been married for 4 years, dating for 16 years, and known each other closely for 22 years. We have an almost 2 year old daughter with our second baby just cooking up. We found out on my daughters first birthday that my husband has stage 4 neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer. Statistically, he will be gone forever by the time you are released from prison. Please know my intent is not to diminish your struggles. You can have a bright future. You are a beautiful person inside and out. You’re gentle soul shines through. Stay positive and strong💜

I’ve never clicked a video faster. I’ve also never been so heartbroken so fast. I feel like I can feel his pain through the screen. I noticed him relax more and more throughout the video. You’re a good friend, Julia. A book club + letters sound great. Letters can help a whole lot on the inside. I’d say stay strong, but life sends us only what we can handle, Brandon. Congratulations on your sobriety! Best of luck on this part of your journey. ❤️

I wish you the best. Stay strong, focused and sober💪The key to succed in life is persistance, focus and the will and desire to do better (but you already know that, given what you have been through) Don't ever give up!!
You obviously have a lot of love in your life. 3 1/2 years in prison is a long time and can shake you up quit a bit. I hope for you it won't be too rough an experience. Sending you positive energy✌🍀🌞
