- Hi everyone! I’m very excited to collaborate with Devendra Banhart in tonight’s video! Devendra is new to ASMR but has been using it in recent months to relax, so I thought it would be an enjoyable experience for us to film this together. We have been checking in with each other throughout the pandemic and it is always nice to work with friends in LA. I wanted to keep things simple tonight with some natural oils, light touch, and basic hypnosis. Besides a known artist, I appreciated deeply seeing a male in an ASMR session, for a change. I admire those that volunteer bc I feel they help contribute to the crumbling of toxic masculinity.
I think Devendra himself is an inspiration of positive masculinity.
What is toxic masculinity and toxic femininity?
@@ahsanb9006 Toxic masculinity and toxic femininity is the toxic representation and usage of being “super manly/feminine” solely because you’re a man or woman. Such as a man saying, “You get manicures? You’re gay”
Essentially, anything that is deemed non-manly is bad in those people’s opinions, and it makes you too sensitive and feminine. The same goes for the other way. Though it’s not as common, women saying things like, “Don’t sit that way, sit like a woman,” to other women, or commenting on more masculine women as if it’s a negative thing would represent toxic femininity.
This can also be expressed in things such as people saying men can’t or shouldn’t cry, they can’t get emotional or be submissive in a relationship, etc. So by having a man getting an ASMR experience/massage, he reduces the stigma, or belief that men can’t enjoy such things due to it being “too feminine.”

anyone else watch asmr as a way to distract yourself from mental health shit? yeah same, just know you are not alone and you will get better eventually. you just need to go through the storm to find the rainbow,, or let the rainbow find you. keep going you will get through this, i promise.
Seasonal affective disorder is hitting extra hard right now, and I’m doing my best to not feel like a failure due to my lack of executive functioning. Still being in self quarantine (except for appointments) is not really helping, but I’m doing my best. Keeping in touch with people who are truly supportive of you is a very important, helpful tool. We will come out of this knowing ourselves so much better than a lot of people who don’t work on self development for some reason. Lol I’m falling asleep, so apologies if this is incoherent! Sleep well and do what you can, make sure to eat, stay hydrated, at least stretch your body, and do things like reading instead of letting our phones trap us and hold us back. ♥️😴

Hello Julia. I want to personally thank you for making me relaxed after a week of a bunch of bull that’s happened to me lately. Last Saturday my family and I traveled to say goodbye to my grandma. I’ve been crying three days before that till that day because of this. I’m about to turn 18 in March and I feel like my childhood is officially ending. That same Saturday, I started to feel alittle off, I brushed it off thinking I didn’t feel good since I’ve been crying for three days straight. The next day i woke up and realized it was more, I got very sick. I tried to call out of work that following day but they threatened to fire me, since it was the super bowl. So I worked Sunday, a full 9 hour shift. Then Monday I woke up way too late to call out, so I went into work, still feeling horrible. I was suppose to leave early around 5 so I could get a covid test, they sent me home around 8, when everything was closed. So the next day my parents made me go to school (Tuesday) and after school I finally got tested. I woke up again today feeling horrible. I found out my grandma died. I feel so sad, and so scattered. So my grandpa told my mom and dad I wasn’t aloud to come see my grandma until I got my test results back. Turns out, the pharmacy lost my files. I don’t know if I will be able to see my grandma for the very last time tomorrow. I’m so stressed out but watching this video really helped me take deep breaths and relax. So again, thank you so much for everything you do for us. I don’t think you realize how much you help people. And I’m so sorry for this long message but I really needed someone to talk to♥️

I've had the chance of meeting him as zany as he comes off in interviews, he has seriously the most calming presence. It's like a good friend that just smiles and says, "everything's gonna be alright dude". But his eyes somehow have something to do with that feeling as much as any other attributes.

I remeber the first time I heard Devendra Banhart's 🎶 I had just gotten sober and my family and I drove to Halifax, NS. While I was in the city I found a strange spot where people were holding a free life drawing class with wonderful models and so many happy people. We all listened to his songs together. I hadn't seen something so beautiful and open in the world in a long time. That moment gave me a lot of hope, and I was right about the world. I'll learn one of his songs today ❤️ tysm

Being 5 months pregnant, I can’t tell you how blissful it is to watch this. I can almost imagine how it must feel. I have tried body scanning and being brave to sit with feeling uncomfortable instead of reaching for pain relief. It honestly works 😭 I have told myself that feeling mild aches in pregnancy is normal and it’s ok to feel discomfort. Once I realise this, all tension goes away and I feel relaxed and soothed. Doing this while listening to Julia’s videos has been the best comfort for me ❤️

I normally don't comment on videos but I just have to thank you. This video brought back some memories from when I was a little younger and I was able to just sit there and think about them for a while and it ended up putting me in a really good mood for the entire night. Those memories brought an atmosphere with them that I was able to experience and appreciate because of you.
It's not the first time I've watched an asmr video like this, but for some reason I decided to put all my attention into it and it ended up giving me a lot more in return than I was expecting. It may not seem like much but you made my day today and I'm super grateful for that.
