It is a very beautiful truck, only I have observed that you are very abrupt as you control all the movements of how you use the steering wheel, the buttons, etc. and hopefully it lasts with that treatment you give it! Very nice truck 👍
We have had our Ford with Sync 3 for over a year and I can only report 1 time that the screen has locked up. We have no issues with making calls via bluetooth and playing music via bluetooth. Did you correct in your computer system for the larger tires you installed, if not your speed and mileage will not be reporting correctly.
About how much headroom do you have with the sunroof? I’m about an inch taller than you and have read that the sunroof causes one to lose about 2.3 inches of headroom.
At $4/gallon, you'd better give up your dreaming on a Ram classic. You won't even see 20 mpg. :) I suggest you avoid the hybrid in a Maverick though, get the Ecoboost with a real automatic transmission. You won't want the CVT that comes with the hybrid, after it gets some wear into it. CVT's are theoretically better, but realistically worse than regular automatics, and prone to more frequent repair needed. Not a reflection on Ford, CVT's in any brand of vehicle have problems mechanically. One more reason to look into the Ecoboost.... dealers are pre-ordering a ton of Maverick hybrids for their stock. Factory is "sold-out" for many months right now. You can still order one with Ecoboost and get it the way you want it, I'm told by my dealer.
@@rayrussell6258 Ray, you should read up on the e-cvt transmission that the Maverick (and Escape) use. It's similar to the e-cvt in the RAV4 as well. It's basically a single planetary gear set. There are no steel belts or variable pulleys like in a mechanical cvt. It's a completely different type of transmission and is dead simple. Fewer parts than a mechanical cvt or traditional automatic transmission. Ford Escape hybrids that are used in the New York City taxi fleets are racking up consistently high mileages (anywhere from 250,000-500,000 miles) with no drivetrain problems. The e-cvt transmission is extremely durable -- after all, there are no wear items like clutch bands or belts as in other transmissions -- only gears like in a manual transmission.
@@thisdadslife8957 If there are gears, then it is not really a CVT. It sounds like a variation of fluid drive; they're playing games giving it a cvt name. Dual clutch automatics were getting the same type word of mouth initially, then they turned into basket cases. I'm not going to put my own money on the line with "e-cvt" when I can get a better engine/transmission combo in Maverick. The 2.0L Ecoboost with regular automatic (that garages everywhere know how to work on) is the way to go. The e-cvt might last, it might not, but I can guarantee you there won't be anyone really trained how to fix one in over 80% of the US, especially rural markets. And even if you're lucky to find one, he will be charging way more for his work than a regular transmission shop does. I spent 10 years in transmission engineering at one point of my career. To someone on the outside, all these things sound simple. But they aren't, and one of the biggest variables is how the operator drives the vehicle. Those cabs are doing repetitive cycles, at repetitive speeds. They are in use constantly, quite unlike a regular household uses their vehicle. When those e-cvts get used outside that cab duty environment, new things will start showing up... so I'm not that impressed by the NYC cab data. I've seen that analogy mentioned before, and I see holes in it.
@@rayrussell6258 CVTs come in a variety of forms although I take your point that the v-belt style is what many people are aware of (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuously_variable_transmission#Electric). e-cvt has been around for a while, most notably in the Toyota Prius, so that e-cvt has about 20 years of use. A hybrid system of any kind is going to be hard to get serviced in rural areas, I would think. But in terms of reliability, the e-cvt seems to have been doing well.
If they will bring this to the Philippines.. it will sell like pancakes. We have many bad roads even in the cities. Many people buy huge pickups here but most of them doesn`t use the off road capabilities because most of them still live in the city and maverick can be a good commuter vehicle here. I hope Ford Philippines will bring this one here with a good price.
You are omitting major stuff. How is the ride? Comfortable or stiff? How is noise when riding? What is acceleration like and how does it compare? Would this truck be comfortable on an all day ride or wear you down? Doesn’t this truck have auto shut off? How annoying is that? Thanks
On your Bluetooth issue - try this. Disconnect battery, leave it disconnected 15 minutes, 1/2 hour even better. I had this issue on my Transit Connect and my Escape early on, never came back after resetting. Give it a try. Also on your fuel mileage both my vehicles didn't start getting best mileage until over 5,000 miles. PS. Be sure to turn on the headlights at night lol!
I would have thought the fuel mileage would have been better. My Escape got around 23, but, I had so many problems it had to go. My Marquis gets about the same mileage at 20.6.
A piece of kit I would like to see is a rear seat delete. I still want the seat. I just don't want to use it. I realize this wouldn't be other's cup of tea, but it would work for me. You wouldn't want to sit behind me anyway unless you have no legs. Sure, I could just remove it. I'd like some finish panels, a split shelf. Something to make it look factory. It's a wish item I'll never see.
I really want one of these but it seems like it will fall apart. It has only been a month and things are loose on this one. Think after a couple years!
Great video! OH NO, I want a Maverick and will be coming from a 2018 Honda Civic Hatch which has a terrible infotainment center, in my opinion. It doesn't seem like a deal breaker, but the freezing crashing of the screen is concerning. I missed the volume knob on my Civic by a year so at least there's one on the Mav. Also, looks like your new tires are 1.5" taller, 0.3" wider, 0.8" more sidewall. You are also going anywhere from 1mph faster at 20mph to 4.7mph faster at 90mph. Sorry if I am giving you info you already knew! Great review and keep up the good work. I want to order my XLT, ecoboost, awd soon and avoid the markup.
Good vid and pretty straight fwd. I view this vehicle as an enduro, not really a truck and not really a car. I have a 2018 F150 xlt with 2.7 liter ecoboost that I paid 29k for in 2019 used. It gets 21 mpg avg. I would spring for something like that over this thing but that's just me. This thing looks more like a city yuppy mobile with the occasional mountain biker excursion.
That is literally the target audience among others. Think home depot runs on weekends for mulch or a couple sheets of plywood and a few sticks of 2x4s. Most of the population dont actually need a fullsize truck with the full size price. You also will be hard pressed to find that price now; In my area a truck like that is 5-15k more than what you paid. It does have a dual sport motorcycle feel to it which i like but ill be waiting 6 months or so to see if there are any issues. I wouldnt think there to be many since it's based on the escape platform.
0w16 GF 6A oil has been specifically designed for Direct Injection Engines like the EcoBoosts that use the 5w30. Help prevents the oil dilution by gasoline problem and leads to longer engine life. Something to look into.
that thing must be loaded at $33,390. My XLT hybrid order, including a few a la carte options is about $24,500. That's all I'd wanna pay. And I'm still not happy that I had to pay $2280. over the base model to get cruise control. In this vehicle would one want to rest their left arm on the top of the door card ? That's what I usually do in most vehicles and this one would surely need upholstery and padding in that area it seems.
You could have ordered it without the cruise control then install the Rostra 250-9661 cruise control kit yourself for around $400.00 This kit works on all of the 2022 Ford Mavericks except the hybrid versions. Rostra is developing a kit for the hybrid models which we might see some time next year.
My college son has been wanting a Toyota Tacoma. Hesitant about this truck cuz its a completely new model and want to wait n see reliability after a couple years from new owners. Antenna?! Now hafta worry about potential damage to it.
cant remember that last 3000 mile oil change i've had done. modern oil should be at least 6 and my bmw is at least 10k. wondering if its something you do on a brand new engine ?? saying that, we had a new jag with 0 miles, dont recall 3k oil.
I have a cactus gray maverick I put the Rough Country Bronco sport lift kit on mine it changed the stance completely makes it look so much more tougher. As far as the radio freezing I haven't had any problems with mine and it feels super tight doesn't move so maybe yours just didn't get installed all the way during production the sound does suck though I really need to upgrade the speakers like you did.
I am hoping to sit in an XLT in the next week or so because the first two times I sat in one (XL and Lariat), I am a big dude 6'01" and 245 lbs. I got long legs and a tall torso. I felt that I was sitting in it but at the same time ON it. I personally don't like how low the center console is. I also don't like how upright the instrument cluster and infotainment screens are. If they would lean back the instrument cluster and raise the center console where the gearshift is I would be alright with it. I currently have a 2018 Ford Escape SE 4WD. Both of those are not even issues because the gauge cluster and center console are in perfect positions and heights. I was hoping this truck would work for me but I probably will be going with either a Ranger or another Escape.
I feel ur pain. I’m 6’5 but I have had my XL maverick for about 2 months now and I’ve gotten to a point where it’s super comfy. Seat lowered and moved all the way back and I have plenty of headroom and my legs aren’t cramped. At first it was weird getting used to tho

I surprised you can Remote Start the Maverick with the Window partially down. Our 2017 Edge and 2017 F-150, will not start with any window slightly down. For your Speedometer and Odometer, I believe the Dealer can adjust these, to allow for the larger tires.
Noise dampening is poor, between the cab and the engine, taking a closer look between the door frame hinges on the post. you can see through to the engine compartment. Ford could have at least installed, same for the floor there is no noise dampening nor the underside of the hood.
do the heated seats and steering wheel always on when you remote start or do you have to leave them on prior to shutting off your truck? thanks for the review!

You can buy the tailgate damper assembly at the dealer for around $45.00 the part number is VNZ6Z99406A10A You can install it yourself or pay the dealer to install it. On the seats, I have XL, even manual it doesn’t go all the way back.
The Maverick has some really nice wheel designs !
How many soda can boxes (12 packs) can you fit in the bed and backseat of the cab if one were to completely fill them as much as possible?
definitely a nice little truck for daily urban use. but at 20mpg, I'd be going for the hybrid or a ram classic for more room
At $4/gallon, you'd better give up your dreaming on a Ram classic. You won't even see 20 mpg. :)
I suggest you avoid the hybrid in a Maverick though, get the Ecoboost with a real automatic transmission.
My AWD Maverick is at 27 average right now he is very much on the low end
Which Truck bed cover option is this one? It does not look like the "painted" version.
The two tone door panel looks kind of odd to me. Why did they do that?
I would have thought the fuel mileage would have been better. My Escape got around 23, but, I had so many problems it had to go. My Marquis gets about the same mileage at 20.6.
Thank you ! This vid was really helpful, as mine arrives any day now.
I really hate those white door inserts or whatever they are. What were they thinking?
Is there any rubbing with those 245/70/17s?
I want to order my XLT, ecoboost, awd soon and avoid the markup.
take care of your truck it is very nice
i like the dashboard, its got 80s cyberpunk vibes
Quick question, do you know id the wireless charges is pre-wired? If you buy it, will it be plug and play?
i love people can plug stuff in and turn your bed light on thats so cool. LOL bad design without it being able to be locked.
What don’t you like the blindside mirrors?
My local dealer in Ft.Myers FL wants a $10,000 premium on a $26,000 Maverick Lmao.
0w16 GF 6A oil has been specifically designed for Direct Injection Engines like the EcoBoosts that use the 5w30. Help prevents the oil dilution by gasoline problem and leads to longer engine life. Something to look into.
Looks like the side bolster on the driver's seat is already crushing?
Wait wait, did you buy that carrier for your manual or did it come with?
I was thinking the same thing. Did my dealer cheap out on me?!
that thing must be loaded at $33,390.
2280 sheesh I bet you financed it
Na I rest my arm on the top of the door, and it feels just fine.
You could have ordered it without the cruise control then install the Rostra 250-9661 cruise control kit yourself for around $400.00
This kit works on all of the 2022 Ford Mavericks except the hybrid versions. Rostra is developing a kit for the hybrid models which we might see some time next year.
Very thorough job! Thanks for a good in depth review. Well done!
My college son has been wanting a Toyota Tacoma. Hesitant about this truck cuz its a completely new model and want to wait n see reliability after a couple years from new owners. Antenna?! Now hafta worry about potential damage to it.
The engine is loudly knocking already?
cant remember that last 3000 mile oil change i've had done. modern oil should be at least 6 and my bmw is at least 10k. wondering if its something you do on a brand new engine ?? saying that, we had a new jag with 0 miles, dont recall 3k oil.
How does it look? Imgur?
@@holdenc2636 That gives me hope.
@@FBHSswimmer2006 I use the truck to drive for door dash so I’m driving around 6 hours a day in it and I have no complaints as far as back pain or any uncomfortable experiences. As far as the gauge cluster goes I haven’t really noticed that I want it in any diff position but to each their own.
@@FBHSswimmer2006 I also come from a family of giants so my mom, brother and I are all 6’5 and 6’6 and none of us are uncomfortable driving this for any amount of time
So it gets same mileage as my f150 3.5 ecoboost? What in the actual F are you doing to get that. My wife's got a Badlands Bronco Sport and we get 28 mpg running 80mph on trip to Colorado.
He changed the tires for 1
@@kirkkarnage6344 I’m getting just a tiny bit less here in AZ but that 0-60 with no wheel spin is too much fun
@@kirkkarnage6344 Heavy foot. 20 in a 2.0. Crazy bad.
Changing tire size throws odometer reading off.
When a reviewer states that the heated steering wheel is his favorite feature....
Still waiting on hybrid no avail yet in my order
nice vid. thx! IM LOOKIN AROUND...
Something for next year, 60/40 split back seat
My hinda does that thing where it doesn't connect to my phone. I realized that I have to be at a complete stop for some reason. May be a safety thing
Make sure the infotainment system firmware is updated to the latest version. Also, the problem could be with your phone too.
Why do some FX4 come with silver wheels and others with the Black 🤔
You mention that your mpg isn’t what is listed on the window sticker. Changing to larger tires as you did is a sure way to reduce your mpg
do the heated seats and steering wheel always on when you remote start or do you have to leave them on prior to shutting off your truck? thanks for the review!
I’m pretty sure when the vehicle senses its cold out it turns them on. I can’t imagine them being on in the summer haha
@@BlakesCars2 that’s amazing thanks!
@@arnuff The heated seats are automatic but there is settings you can change to stop it if you don't like it. But factory the truck will make the interior 72 degrees when you remote start.
I think the fuel use will improve as the engene breaks in.
You should begin all video's with what model and options.
Can you share you Build details? I am assuming this is NOT a Hybrid.
Bigger bed with reduction of second seats would have been nicer. I went to Ford to look at one, I doubt with closed gate I can fit a MT bike in there
Is the heated wheel all around or just 9 & 3?
Where did you get the tailgate strut ? Can you please leave a link?… we got the XLT carbonized gray with luxury package… should be here any day now…so excited
You can buy the tailgate damper assembly at the dealer for around $45.00 the part number is VNZ6Z99406A10A
You can install it yourself or pay the dealer to install it. I have one on my truck and I love how smooth the tailgate opens, closing it you don't feel any extra resistance due to the internal valving of the piston.
Thank you so much… I bought this truck for my wife… she doesn’t know she’s getting it yet… hoping it will be here for Christmas… it is in transit .. so anyway day now…
What's the point if you can't connect to your phone?
Do you have 10% ethical in your fuel were you live? I know my baja in areas without ethical in the fuel mh mpg is 4 mpg better on the highway and a hair less in town.
Would you recommend this to a 21 year old guy? Do you think this will last me till I'm 30?
It won't last till you're 25 if you drive it and take care of it the way most young people drive and maintain their vehicles! Keep up with the maintenance and avoid driving it as if you stole it and it will go 250,000 miles no problem.
Are you from the metro Detroit area? I'm guessing based on your radio presets.
Yea you kinda have to be careful with that screen. Anything that moves will eventually get wear and tear and eventually have to be replaced.
This video is super super nice.
I just ordered mine here in Ontario Canada I'm going from a vw gti to this thing I hope I made a great choice lol I ordered the area 51 colour XLT with FX4 offroad package and the 4k towing package 🙏. Do you have future plans with aftermarket parts for it? Of are you just going to keep it OEM?
I'm in Ontario, too and have a Lariat Lux /FX4 /4K/sunroof on order and have no idea when I will be getting it? When did u order yours?
@@jay.0621 that's exciting and I ordered mine like a month ago everything done and dealership here in Cambridge been quiet hahahahsh so I hope we grt them soon.
@@joecosta7319 Got mine from a dealership in Brampton. My salesman doesn't have a clue when the truck will be here.Good luck.
From Ontario as well. Looking to get an EB, with tow package. I’m not ordering/purchasing until there is aftermarket suspension support.
Rumour has it that there might be a ST trim and or an awd hybrid 2023/2024. I may wait for one of those.
Remote start kills fuel mileage too. My wife gets 8mpg less than me in her car because she let's it warm up
will 31 inch tires fit on the stock rims?
Can you do and install video for the lift kit?
