    Since there was no video for this monitor from Hardware Unboxed or Bijan, i thought i'd watch all the "meh" videos and draw some conclusions. However after first video, this one, i got all my questions answered in very convincing matter and there is no need for any other video, period. There are only so few convincing youtube channels and i'm happy i found one more.

      @@sana5958 I actually don't have any experience with this monitor. My friend's son got it but he isn't probably an expert so i can't help you there. I'm bit rusty on monitors really. I have Samsung G7 32 1440p 240hz which i guess i still recommend for its price even though people have had problems. I also have Acer 32 ips 1440p 270hz one, not probably worth it if it costs more than the samsung. I also have those LG 165hz nano ips ones (new 27s are 180hz). They are pretty mind blowing on picture quality and speed and definitely a buy if you don't require 240hz. Sorry again can't help with the msi.

    I bought this monitor because of this review i saw about half a year ago and I stumbled up on it today, it's a great monitor, specially worth it if you are going VESA mount because a lot of models I saw that were more expensive had similar or worse data on Rtings with only the stand being better. Some even more expensive had HDR like the optix with quantum dot but a lot of reviews say colors just get over-saturated so it really isn't worth it.
    Want something good for the buck that's functional and for the price almost perfect, this is the one (at least a heavy contender). You can even set it to 120Hz and with Nvidia Control Panel it allows you to set it to 10bit instead of 8bit, it really makes a difference with color gradient which makes images, videos and games look so much better. it's 8bit @165hz and 10bit @≤120hz. Really worth it for the price.

    Great review! I have this monitor and I'm really happy with it, but I've found a quirk with it, and that's that the "Normal" color temperature is actually equivalent to turning the blue and green up all the way but the red not quite all the way up. MSI's own ICC profile clearly expects you to use the "Normal" color temperature and thus overcompensates for the turned down reds, resulting in a lower contrast ratio when using their color profile. My question is, did you use a custom color temperature with all channels turned to 100 when calibrating the monitor? I'm thinking both for the contrast ratio measurement and the ICC profile

    I have a kind of weird request. What I have noticed on most wide color gammut monitors is that they are most of the time not only more saturated but the colors are many times just off. So I wonder if it is possible to calibrate wide gammut displays to keep the saturation but only optimize the color hues? I guess thats the deltaH values if I am correct. Would love if you could provide something like that cause saturation is nice but colors being off not.
    Nevertheless your reviews are amazing and I believe even the best currently.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! Yes the goal would be to minimize the deltaH. I don't think this would actually be possible with an ICC profile, or even useful. This would only work with programs that support color management and only for one specific source color space. If a photo or so contains a different sources color space like adobe RGB and the specific profile was made for sRGB things would look off.
      Interesting idea though! 🤔

    • @pasi123567
      @pasi123567 3 года назад

      @@techlessYT Oh yeah I understand. This is also what I dislike about ICC profiles on windows because they just don't work across the board on all applications. If that was possible my monitor purchase options would be probably much bigger ^^
      I would also assume these extended gammut monitors are not made for accurate colorwork mainly because they sell them as gaming monitors and the extra colors should probably just make the image pop more. At least that is what I would want, so thats why I think a extended gammut monitor with accurate deltaH to the sRGB space would be ideal for content consumption.

      Not something that could be easily done and you very likely won't archive the highest accuracy. But you might have success with this tool: github.com/ledoge/novideo_srgb

    Costco has this Monitor for $149.00 right now. The only difference is it’s a 1080p, which is fine for me. Any chance you can do a review of the Costco version?

    I bought it yet mine came with the square base which is fully adjustable. It's nicer than my LG 27GN800-B in every way. Color is better, glow, bleed... Just better in every way.
