Hello! I found your videos while looking to upgrade my Go Pro set up. I wanted to know more about the Media Mod and then the next video up was about the DJI wireless microphone. So $500 later I'm extremely grateful for your review videos. It's a friendly narration and I enjoy the videos I've seen so far. Cannot say THANK YOU enough. Have a great day!
Great video, I used the claw like you for a little bit but found it cumbersome at times like you attaching to my pack strap. Ulanzi GP-4 mount for me was a better option. Just a simply click and twist and it’s locked into place. You can swap with different cameras and tripods as well if you have enough of the “female” or lower portion of this twist mount. I like Ulanzi products, them seem to integrate seamlessly with many options! Good choices though 👏🏻.
We have the GP-4 quick release too and mainly like the Claw because of its dedicated backpack clip. I'm working on a more comprehensive quick release comparison video.
I have 125 claw pairings! They're very useful. I even use it on my DJI RS3 (one plate fir the camera, one at the bottom of the battery) so I can place the gimbal on a tripod and using raven eye... It can follow me around as I walk around the camera. One thing, though. You don't need to press the buttons to place it in. Line it up and push and it'll insert in place. There's springs in the mechanism. You only need two fingers to release it.
@@Gemini_Connect I've been considering changing to Falcam F22 system. Smaller and more secure. Two-pin plus your regular 1/4 inch makes it not come lose. You should contact them, see if they'd like a review. I don't do product reviews really...
stumbled upon your video in my "suggested" feed and I'm glad I did. This is exactly what I was looking for. Wanted something to swap between mounts for on the go and in the car without having to unscrew each time.
Thanks for the video! I started my channel over a year ago and I still have such a hard time vlogging in public, so I appreciate your tips. I also just purchased the Hero 11 and watched several of your videos, I'm eager to start using it.
Ulanzi has a newer quick release systems, the F38 full Arca Swiss compatible, and the F22 for it's several accessories and even for action cameras. I got their F38 system, and although I don't plant on replacing my Peak Design capture clip, ulanzi also makes a place compatible for both brands, so I could fully take the jump. 😎👍
I considered both the Ulanzi Falcam and Hummingbird, but from what I can tell, they don't offer backpack clips, so it would be really pricey to buy the Peak Design clip, which is 3x more expensive than the Claw clip. But I'll do a more in-depth comparison soon!
@@Gemini_Connect the Falcam F38 does have a backpack capture clip, but it isn't much attractive, not as polished as the Peak Design capture clip. Now for the F22 I don't know for a fact if they have a backpack clip. 😎📷
You and Camera conpiracy are two best channel for go pro and camera perspective. Thank you for sharing your tips and advice. Silky smooth. All the best in your way!
I don't have a "Vlog" channel...yet. I may create one in retirement (which will be soon). However, I have been a professional in video production for over 45 years. I have watched with great interest many vlogs and vlog set-ups and I can say this one is excellent! I agree with everything she says. Of course, we all know, a GoPro or any other action camera is a very fixed wide angle shot. Even if you shoot 4K but edit HD, you can still only zoom in so much on the image. So, if you want to be a serious vlogger, at some point you really should get a mirrorless camera with the ability to change lenses. Which mirrorless camera is a debate that could fill pages. If you are just looking to get started in vlogging, then this would be a great set-up. She is also dead right, a wireless lavalier microphone is crucial. Nice job on this video!
It is a great advantage to change between mounts so quickly, one question, how do you solve the mount on the chest? It's looking up... so how the gopro record whats exactly are on front of you?
I have, and while I like them, they're significantly bigger and heavier than these mounts, so there's a time when SnapMounts can be preferred. I'll do a more comprehensive quick release comparison video soon.
I have a very similar setup. I recently added the backpack strap mount. I’m also using the Snap mount which is magnetic. I purchased the combo so I can switch back and forth. One thing I dislike about the media mod is that you have to disassemble every time you need to switch batteries. I shoot at high frame rates so I switch batteries often. Great video, thanks for sharing ✌️😎
This is great! I'm brand new to the GoPro world, so these types of videos are insanely beneficial to me. My wife grabbed me a GoPro Hero 10 last week for my birthday, so I've been on a massive hunt for books and videos on how to use the camera and all of the cool "toys" to go along with it! :) Thank you for helping in that arena! :)
In another video you had done, there was a comparison between a Sony camera, a GoPro, and the DJI Pocket 2. Well you pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of all three, it sounded like you were saying the DJ I was the clear winner. May I ask if you’ve had a change of heart and are now using the GoPro? I’m thinking of picking either one up, creator package/combo either way, and can’t decide:)
How does the claw work with your gimbal? Wish GoPro would come out with something that’s a little more subtle and universal. This is the best one I have seen yet but still not a fan of adding more stuff. Amazed GoPro hasn’t figured out a great universal quick release yet.
We actually haven't tried the Claw on a gimbal yet. I think it would be fine on a bigger gimbal like the M3 or M2S. Working on a quick release comparison video now and will include gimbal compatibility in that one.
Hi, I have the same Ulanzi setup but my quick release system is F38, I find it's smaller n lighter but still provide the same sturdiness. F22 is too small for my liking as its a bit too small when I switch to main gear. I have both MT47 and MT46.
I have the GoPro hero 12 (creator edition) which came with the media mod. I also have a DJI Mic 2 that came with my pocket 3 creator combo. Does the GoPro 12 only work with the DJI mic 1?
I'm surprised that you didn't see the Falcam 38 system by Ulanzi? IMO, it maybe a better long term system - its ARCA plus has another plate that is also PD compatible. Therefore, you can attach directly to your grip/selfie/tripod w/o the propriety base, you can attach to current PD capture and best of all it has slimmer design.
From what I can tell, the Falcam doesn't offer a backpack clip, so it would end up being more expensive if you don't already own the Peak Design Capture Clip. But I'll work on a more detailed comparison video now that you've mentioned it!
Also, Telesin has a good magnetic GoPro "foot" mount with a 1/4 inch tripod screw hole. It's been very dependable since I got my Hero9. It can also be used with the SmallRig Hero 9/10 metal cage case that also has a Mic adapter mount holder on it.
Dang wish I saw this before I bought the peak design quick release with the Neewer clamps. Both work great together. But yours looks clean and a great option too.
Oh wow the audio does sounds better! I've been using hero 9 with rode mic wireless gen 1, may I ask : does the back up audio kicks in when you lose connection? Thank you love the video
Quick question. For vlogging at the desktop like you're doing. Would the Max Lens mod work to bring my face closer to the camera and fill the shot, and allow the GoPro to sit farther away?
We want to transition to wireless mics. But we have some any questions. Currently we just press record, and start recording. Will we have to turn the wireless mic on also, or will the kit recognise that we've pressed record and all start working when we do? There are two of us? Will having two microphones at the same time pick up cross talk on each microphone and sound weird? I would love an in depth wireless mic video from you guys.
Those are excellent questions, and I agree it would make a good video in itself. Quick answer: it does take longer to turn on both mics and make sure the connection is accurate. The only exception when it’s faster and more accurate is using the new DJI Mic 2 connected to the DJI pocket 3 or Action 4 via Bluetooth - this is my current vlogging setup just for the ease and accuracy of the mic connection. There can sometimes be some audio crossover if you’re really close to the other mic, but I don’t find that it sounds weird or anything.
@@Gemini_Connect this is a great answer. We still haven’t found a good solution for us. We use a GoPro, media mod and shotgun mic. We like the fact that when we’re out and about we just press record and start talking. But sometimes the mic creeps into shot. And it’s annoying to have to keep taking off its mount when we want to narrate behind the camera. That and our media mod broke (we’re not in the us so can’t use GoPros servicing) after only 6 months 😡
I'm using the hero 10 with a media mod and the dji mic as well...after recording about 12 minutes or so it freezes and gets really hot. I wonder of it's settings could you help me a little on settings your using with this setup?
I've been watching your videos for a while, and I'll just like to say how great they are, and how it helped me deciding in what gear to get and what that fits my needs. I like very much how you reference and organize all the subjects and products links! Congrats!!! Oh yeah, almost forgot, I'm in Brazil :)
I always enjoy watching your vlogging setup evolution b/c I do the same. Great idea. I recently switched over to a quick release by Ulanzi called F38. Not only does it fit the standard arca swiss mounts but it also works on Peak Design's capture clip. It's definitely worth checking. Thanks for sharing!
Hi and thank you for your video. I use the Snap Mount as a quick release system. It would be great to have your opinion on how it compares with the ulanzi quick release system. Thank you.
Ulanzi magnetic quick release is even faster and better. I use it for Mtb and Backcountry skiing all the time. Very fast and reliable without any buttons.
We have been using that as well, but prefer the Claw because there's a dedicated backpack clip for it. But I'll do a more comprehensive comparison soon.
can you change the angle of the gopro with this shoulder mount? or do you know any that can do that? (like move the camera to aim it where u wanna aim it, hope u know what i mean, i couldnt see if its doable from this video)
Yes, we have Snap Mounts. I fi d them much larger and heavier than the Ulanzi versions, but stay tuned for a more in-depth quick release comparison video.
I've been looking at the Ulanzi quick release as well as the Ulanzi Falcam series. After some research, I am leaning towards to the PGY Tech quick release system (Arca Swiss compatible). They have a backpack mount (Beetle clip), gopro swivel mount, and tripod plates, as well. Decisions, decisions. What's the most frustrating is that I currently love the compact size of the Inkee Falcon Plus but the payload capacity of it (for GoPro10 and various accessories) limits what you can do with it and the gopro prong mount is probably the best for low-profile mounting. Do you use your Falcon Plus to charge you Go Pro while on the gimbal? I haven't yet found a good way to use the gimbal while charging because I haven't yet found a charging cable (to use either with the Media Mod or the USB pass through door) that didn't inhibit the function of the gimbal by interfering with the motion or cable drag on the motor. Having to remove the gopro to change batteries is becoming a real pain. Yet I can't seem to find a setup to work with the Falcon Plus and I really don't want to move up to a significantly bigger setup like the Crane M2S or M3.
We have a Falcam quick release on the way -- will be making a video on it soon. We don't charge the GoPro while using it to film, but anytime it is not filming, I have it charging. The Enduro batteries have also made a significant improvement on battery life.
@@Gemini_Connect I ended up purchasing the PGY TECH quick release systems. To switch between the Falcon Plus, backpack mount and pole (during bad weather). In order to get the quick release mounted in the Falcon Plus, I had to get a gopro to 1/4" 20 to put the adapter plate. It raised the GoPro10 high enough to weigh it down and throw of the balancing - which I then offset by adding a counterweight. The ugly hacks works but it just BARELY clears the motors on the gimbal - so much so that I have to use the Gopro on it naked. Which works for me since I need the quick switch just to get video and not necessarily audio. (Have a DJI mic set that can be used for separate audio). If I ever need to record the audio specifically together with the video, I guess I'll just have to change back to the media mod (which I'm not a huge fan of).
Nice setup, and I always enjoy these Vlog how to videos on your channel. That Ulanzi quick release mounting system looks for interesting. Thanks for sharing.
When we connect dji to gopro with media mod, do we have to change any settings? Like activate external mic or smt like that? I see some options, which r standard, powered n etc
Nice set up , there are so many variables . I have something similar , insta selfie stick , ulanzi hummingbird quick release and I replace my GoPro feet with some that have a 1/4 screw so my quick release screws straight in to . Excellent video keep up the good work , your little lad is sure coming along 🇬🇧👍 atb Dave
what if we connect RODE Go (Dji mic) wireless mic receiver output to a Bluetooth transmitter and connect the transmitter to Gopro12 via Bluetooth ? will we have a dual wireless mic setup ?
Do you have any issues with your shoulder mount taking odd angle pov videos, I find when I use a shoulder mount the videos are usually pretty useless with the go pro… so any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
I've used the shoulder mount for occasional POV filming, but generally not for long periods of time. Using Linear with Horizon Leveling works out for me, but I'll do a video about these settings soon.
@@Gemini_Connect I think my biggest issue with the shoulder mount is keeping the go pro pointing forward. with the shoulder strap on a backpack, I often find the camper pointing at a diagonal angle making the video not really usable and not focused on what I am doing. I would love to see how you are doing this and maybe it can help me improve my setup. Thanks again!
have they fixed the firmware so you can use the external mic when you live stream or is it still only the inbody mic thats recording? i also notised that when i toggled between modes it lost the connetion with the mic jack. so i had to unplug the 3,5mm cable and insert it again just to get it to connect again. or to find it.
Gopro 10 is really good, BUT you can't trust it recording all time. Most times it think it's too cold, and twice the clock/time and date have reset just suddenly and you need to setup again for continue recording. Only wish DJI could come out with a desent Action 3 soon.
Hey.., actually I want your help, I others will be also need your help.. My GoPro 11 black is not compitable with adaptor mod external mic, rather it's only connected external mic in media mod. I want to know how it can be completed, when I connected it.. in preference I find media mod with N/A.. PLEASE HELP

Please give me this go pro and full set up🥺🥺
Nice setup, and I always enjoy these Vlog how to videos on your channel. That Ulanzi quick release mounting system looks for interesting. Thanks for sharing.
That's great to hear. I've got more vlogging setup videos on the way!
Sorry if I missed this but can I use an wireless mic on the GoPro vlogging cage? Lookis like you are using one.
Yes, you can clip the wireless mic receiver to the cage.
Without the media mod and with an external mic plugged into the mic adapter, will I be able to see audio levels on the GoPro ?
When we connect dji to gopro with media mod, do we have to change any settings? Like activate external mic or smt like that? I see some options, which r standard, powered n etc
hi there, for the microphone adapter, can i use other brand such as ugreen for external mic instead of gopro mic adapter ?
Don't forget that you need a 500 g counterweight to keep the insta360 selfie stick from falling over.
Very helpful, thanks! 🌸😊💜
Any thoughts/opinions on using mini-shotgun mikes...e.g...Movo Double Mike/Deity D4...as fill-in/back-up audio to DJI lavalier?
Deity D4 is great. Haven't tested the Movo.
I have purchased Gopro 10. It is making a blur video. Faces are not getting blur whiles filming. Can u please guide what’s the reason behind it.
Very good video and review
Do they have anything that would work on the headstrap and suction cup mount?
Nice set up , there are so many variables . I have something similar , insta selfie stick , ulanzi hummingbird quick release and I replace my GoPro feet with some that have a 1/4 screw so my quick release screws straight in to . Excellent video keep up the good work , your little lad is sure coming along 🇬🇧👍 atb Dave
Nice setup! We have a Hummingbird quick release on the way and will be doing a quick release comparison video soon.
If you pull out the cable, does the GoPro automatically switch to standard media mod microphone?
Yes, it should.
will the battery be used up faster with the media mod ?
what if we connect RODE Go (Dji mic) wireless mic receiver output to a Bluetooth transmitter and connect the transmitter to Gopro12 via Bluetooth ? will we have a dual wireless mic setup ?
Amazing reviews,new followers here' ♥️
Im from indonesia , thanks for video 😊 , next i want to buy like this gear
Susie, do you know when GoPro is going to release their new models this fall?
Announcement is almost always in September every year.
@@Gemini_Connect thanks
Dji mic is next on my list
have they fixed the firmware so you can use the external mic when you live stream or is it still only the inbody mic thats recording? i also notised that when i toggled between modes it lost the connetion with the mic jack. so i had to unplug the 3,5mm cable and insert it again just to get it to connect again. or to find it.
I enjoy your vids thank you!
Hi, can you please let me know, how to connect type C microphone to Go pro 10/11
Gopro 10 is really good, BUT you can't trust it recording all time. Most times it think it's too cold, and twice the clock/time and date have reset just suddenly and you need to setup again for continue recording.
Only wish DJI could come out with a desent Action 3 soon.
We haven't had those issues with the GoPro Hero 10, but we have had those problems and more on the Hero 7, 8, and 9.
Hey.., actually I want your help, I others will be also need your help..
My GoPro 11 black is not compitable with adaptor mod external mic, rather it's only connected external mic in media mod. I want to know how it can be completed, when I connected it.. in preference I find media mod with N/A..
PLEASE HELP
I’m surprised there’s no Volta here 😊I guess it’s easier to have a pocket full of batteries 🪫 🔋 that’s probably my fault I need more batteries 😅
The Volta bothers me because it doesn't extend and is too short, but other than that it looks pretty solid.
@@Gemini_Connect I agree
Is the GoPro 11 compatible with DJi Mic 2?
😮I’m speeechless this is beautiful 😻
Great sharing! Thank you!
