Thanks for the annual update, Suzi! Your channel always offers really great advice for gear. I prefer cages to the media mod. They make gopros compatible with arca- swiss setups, have cold shoes for wireless mics and provide some peace of mind for protecting the camera. A little added weight and bigger form factor is ok with me.
I agree with you and am tempted to get the smallrig cage, was only wondering if the mediamod helped cutdown the wind sound et all by default due to the placement of the sponge on it and hence haven't yet got either of them and am on the fence about it.

We reviewed the GoPro Remote in a separate video. It works great if you need one. Personally, I don’t use a remote very often for the style of videos I shoot.

Hi Suzi! I just subscribed after watching your video on GoPro accessories. Thanks for sharing! I'm hoping you can make me some suggestions. First, thanks for opening the door to all the new accessories! I'm planning to do some kayaking videos and am buying the GoPro Hero9 as it has some features that are perfect for nature and whitewater filming. I do not want to use a helmet mount for the camera. I've seen too many kayakers roll their kayak and lose their camera when they scraped the river bottom. Then, there is the chest mount to consider. The issue with a chest mount is the viewer gets tired really quickly of watching the constant crisscrossing of the paddle in front of their face! So far, I've identified a strap mount that might be usable, and attached to my PFD (personal flotation device). I can use a tripod mounted to the floor of my kayak and swivel it around for vlogging. Can you think of any other methods of getting nice clear shots so that the viewer can see what I'm seeing? I should mention the kayak is an inflatable so a sharp or magnetic mount won't work. awesome coverage on the accessories... funny how the smaller our cameras get, the more and more add on accessories we carry LOL The DSLR camera days are long gone where we carry 2 backpacks worth of lenses and batteries not including the heavy duty steel tripods before the carbon fiber tripods came in hahaha

Hi! Your video is really impressive! Thanks for it! But I have a question: Is insta360 stick waterproof? I bought it yesterday and I don`t know if I can use it at the beach.
It’s waterproof, but just make sure to fully extend it and let it dry out after as water can seep into the extension pole. Also, it’s like a magnet for sand, so keep it away from sand if you can.

You should try out Rapi lock thumb screws if you havent already. Ive replaced all of my thumbscrews with those. So easy to use and works great on the media mod. I was having trouble with normal and even longer thumbscrews jamming up against the bottom of the media mod so I couldnt get a good tight turn on them. The Rapi locks solved the problem.
If you have the Hero 12, yes because you can film vertically in camera without flipping the camera in its side. But if you have an older GP, you’d need to find a mount that lets the camera sit on its side to film vertical- or shoot in 8:7 and crop in post.
I am going to Dominican Republic to snorkel with whales, deep blue water. For a beginner which GoPro camera should I purchase. and a big ask--which acessories do you think I need? Floating on the surface, not chasing after them, wide angle might be necessary when they get up close, do I need a red filter to deal with all the blue to get correct color balance? Get the Hero 11 Black (best image quality and least amount of bugs), and the floaty handle with wrist strap. Shouldn't need the dive housing unless you scuba. I'd also get the red filter.
is there a mount that i can mount on my shoulders that rises above my head? i want to film myself welding with a hood on but I can't mount on the hood as I raise and lower the hood multiple times. I want a mount so I can see my helmet

So when do you stop upgrading to the next new release gopro? Is it OK to say to yourself this one is doing the job I will just stick with this one for now?
Personally, I upgrade every year to do reviews on this channel. But if I were to advise others, I’d say the Hero 11 is the very best GoPro so far because the freezing bugs have largely been eliminated, something I can’t say about the Hero 7-10. So go for the 11 if you want to buy now, or if you can wait until October, the Hero 12 will be out (no telling how it will be different).
Thank you for the video. I wonder about those devides that are called "battery chargers" which often are more "battery holders" than chargers, because they still have to be wired to a transformer, while a "legitimate" charger is connected directly to an electrical outlet. While backpacking, I charged my batteries directly via the USB to my battery bank while I slept. I would have been interested to hear about attaching gimbals to backpack strap or to hiking pole. I did clip my gopro to my camera strap but found that it tended to sag, or I bend forward (and downward) a bit while hiking up a hill or boldered terrain, but this caused me to get a lot of video of the ground. A gimbal would have kept the camera forward.

That's a great point. Personally, I find the cages too heavy, but I agree that they offer more useful features and better long-term durability.

I’ve never had a problem with quick release mounts, but always a good idea to triple check the connection points and make sure they are solid.

My GoPro Jaws Gooseneck was destroyed on first use, the fixing clip broke. It is too delicately made.

So when do you stop upgrading to the next new release gopro? Is it OK to say to yourself this one is doing the job I will just stick with this one for now?
Personally, I upgrade every year to do reviews on this channel. But if I were to advise others, I’d say the Hero 11 is the very best GoPro so far because the freezing bugs have largely been eliminated, something I can’t say about the Hero 7-10. So go for the 11 if you want to buy now, or if you can wait until October, the Hero 12 will be out (no telling how it will be different).

I wonder about those devides that are called "battery chargers" which often are more "battery holders" than chargers, because they still have to be wired to a transformer, while a "legitimate" charger is connected directly to an electrical outlet. While backpacking, I charged my batteries directly via the USB to my battery bank while I slept.
I would have been interested to hear about attaching gimbals to backpack strap or to hiking pole. I did clip my gopro to my camera strap but found that it tended to sag, or I bend forward (and downward) a bit while hiking up a hill or boldered terrain, but this caused me to get a lot of video of the ground. A gimbal would have kept the camera forward.
