Another very interesting and forgotten character is Enrico Dandolo. He starts at 71 as a cisalpine blindmen, historically he would be elected Doge of Venice and be one of the foremost proponents of ths Fourth Crusade and the Latin Empire, dying in Constantinople at a whooping 96-97 years of age...
Talking about east of Europe, there is interesting character in Ruthenia region. Roman Mstyslavovych duke of Volhynya on 1178 start date, member of a Volhynian line of Rurikid dynasty "Izyaslavovychy" is interesting historical person. He conquered Galicia duchy(including Moldova) in 1198. Making his cousin Ingvar Yaroslavovych, duke of Lutsk, his vassal in the late 1190-s and put him, as his puppet into the throne of grand duchy of Kyiv, conquering it in 1204. Lead a campaigns against Cumans(conquering a part of Podolia region, controlled by them), saved Byzantium from Cumans invasion. Uniting a huge piece of land, creating a strong country, only to die in next 1205 year, in battle with poles trying to help his German allies, and leave his cousin Ingvar to watch, how his dead cousin newly created country collapsing after a year of it's creation. And what is also upset, that a Roman son Danylo unite all his father lands in direct control(and additionally vassalize Turov-Pinsk dukes) by 1239, only to lose Kyiv and Podolia to Mongols in next year, which also left his remaining territory in ruin during 1240-1241 years Mongols campaign, and with many noble uprisings.
