I read about this and apparently many think that Spain would have caused the Axis to crumble even faster had they joined. So the question would have to include the civil war wrapping up quickly (like we can do in game) like within a year.

That would honestly depend on one thing, the Barbarossa offensive succeeding. It was the ultimate failure of the offensive, and the subsequent peace deal that was wildly against Russia, that gave the Soviets the opening they needed to cause the civil war

Interesting fact: World War II actually started in 1937 when Japan launched the war of aggression against China, instead of Germany attacking Poland in 1939. World War II was first launched by Japanese fascists, but this was ignored because of the western historical view.
For that to happen you would need to change like 100-150 years of Austrian / Austria-Hungarian military history. They were INCREDIBLY bad at war after it moved from Napoleonic fighting to more skirmish/modern. Hell they even used 3-4 hundred year old brass canons during early stages in ww1 because "if it works why change it" Conrad my beloved
I think a potential reason why Europeans would be investing into China more and willing to offer military advice was because they realized that if China descended into chaos, that would put their business interests at risk. A stable China was a profitable China. I think the French would be most interested in the Qing government adopting reforms more proactively, as they understand what happens if the ruling class puts stuff like that at a low priority.
Theoretically, at least according to my theory, Qing China would live on in this universe. It would more likely become more of a constitutional monarchy where the emperor is a figure head, like UK.

This is actually playable without giving yourself free factories, skipping focuses, or anything else. It’s not easy, but the dev made this very playable and you will likely need to fight the revolution and win! He’s a great guy, although it seems that the submod will no longer receive updates :(

Alternative Chinese history especially once European countries were so desperate to colonise, has so many potential interesting routes. The hardening behind the emperor might have happened had literally six European countries (mainly Britain and France) weakened the empire through war and attrition while spreading pro-democratic propaganda.
I would love to see a what if the Soviet's joined the Axis and battles the Allies and eventually the other Axis members who would turn on paintbrush mustache man if he let Papa Stalin in the axis.
