    Recently I picked up a stihl string trimmer FS55r that starts but won’t rev up and runs poorly. Let’s see what it needs to run like it should.

      Yes they make great machines. Usually they don’t take much to keep going but routine maintenance keeps them running for a long time.

      I’ve heard the same as well. I’m not sure if there was a bad batch or what.

      It’s been setting on shelves for many years is why it’s dead 😮
      Just mix your own folks and dump it at the end of season
      I even date my mix😊

    I had the same problem with my trimmer. I fixed it when I stopped using the Tru-Fuel and started making my own gas. Now my trimmer runs great. Tru-Fuel is a joke. After so many uses, Tru-Fuel gums up the carb.

    • @garyalensr
      @garyalensr 5 месяцев назад

      How does it gum the carb up? It has no ethanol? I'm curious, cuz I've used Tru-fuel for years with no issues until recently. I just bought the Srm225 and started using non ethanol fuel with Echo Red Armor oil and my trimmer runs better than when using canned fuel. Canned fuel is supposed to be so much better?

    I suspect that purge bulb had a very small crack. Didn’t see you test it when you pulled the carb off. Either that or just very small debris clogging up an orifice somewhere.

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  5 месяцев назад

      I should have showed testing it but the original was pulling fuel in it and didn’t show any leaks. I think there was a small piece of debris that I just couldn’t see.

    Nice fix Alex, if you had to choose an Echo or Stihl which would you go with and why? Me i went with the SRM225 because it gets such great reviews for pros and home owners. Also the warranty for residential is amazing. Do you think i made the best decision?

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  5 месяцев назад +1

      Echo. I ran my SRM225 commercially for two years with no issue. I own two of them and highly recommend.

    Hey I’m starting to fix small engines as well and i’ve gotten pretty familiar with push mowers and stroke engine stuff but riding mowers seem to be really daunting and hard to work on. How long did it take you to get this good at working on riding mowers and do you have any advice on getting good with them. Thanks

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  5 месяцев назад

      I started out just doing push mowers and small two stroke equipment. The riding mowers become easier with time but I still have times that I’m stumped with a problem. The best way to go about working on them is with practice and just focus on one part of the machine at a time. Engine, drivetrain, mowing deck, electric… ect. Just break it down into categories and tackle it. 😎

    Looks like it was just bogging down, adjusting the high and low carb screw could have had it running in minutes? Thats a common fix on those stihl engines

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  5 месяцев назад +3

      Yes I thought the same. I had already tried making the adjustments before making the video on the high and low speed. That’s usually the first thing I try before diving in. Thank you for the tips.

    • @freedommowers420
      @freedommowers420  5 месяцев назад

      If it is hydrostatic then you need to pull the release lever in the rear of the mower. Possibly your brakes are sticking or need adjustment if it’s not the hydro release.
