Solo Crit Master Aerith (Bladed Staff) vs Rude (Hard Mode, No Damage/Limit)

- Last time we abused Stop and Arcane Ward to decimate Rude quickly and efficiently with the Arcane Scepter, taking full advantage of Fleeting Familiar to stack tons of damage in the process. Both of those abilities are very powerful, so what if I don't use an Arcane Ward, cast fewer Wind spells, and don't Stop Rude?
Instead, we use a crit build Aerith; with the Bladed Staff, she has an improved crit rate and crit damage, and we stack 2 Magic Up and 2 Luck Up for maximum power and the highest likelihood of a critical. Although she doesn't score many criticals in Phase 2 due to bad luck, she gets so many in Phase 1 that a single Tempest and Ray of Judgment pushes Rude to the next phase with no additional hits!
The Bladed Staff's signature skill is Lustrous Shield, so we use that this time to nullify Rude without Stop. By prepping it in advance while he's sleeping, its ready to protect us as soon as Phase 2 begins so we can renew our assault right away. The shield sadly blocks sight of Rude while I barrage him with a clean combo, so just watch the damage numbers rack up instead.
When I use Aerora, the spell actually pulls him into the shield and bounces him off of it, which is pretty funny to watch, but also tactical because I use it to pull Rude into my Tempest as its exploding, and he's caught by nearly the entire move while being pulled in by Aerora and then bounced off of the shield; this gives me enough ATB to follow-up with Ray of Judgment! Wish I had moved my camera a little to more easily see that.
This battle went perfectly, and I even got good RNG with Rude opting for Shockwave instead of Spirit Geyser every time; Lustrous Shield renders Shockwave totally ineffective. If you like RoJ, this is a great battle to see it used. Enjoy!

I love how Rude was beefing with Cloud when Aerith was the one whose actuallly doing the damage

This is the best Aerith showcase I've seen yet. Great use of her toolkit! Lustrous shield always flew under my radar and using aero like that, how did you figure that out? I even got to see Ray of Judgement being used not once but twice in the same fight! Its like seeing a double rainbow. Its so rare to see anyone using it. This is how aerith should be
Glad you like it! The Aerora idea was something I brainstormed might work after a few tries, and I realized that if everything went right, I could pin him in an exploding Tempest by bouncing him between wind magic and the shield, which in turn would give me more ATB and allow me to use RoJ before he can do much to retaliate. If he uses Spirit Geyser instead of Shockwave, it doesn't work since he interrupts RoJ with it, but if he opts for Shockwave, it's gravy. I have another Aerith battle to come that will use her kit in even more ways actually. Thanks for watching!
@@Ultinarok47 Now that you mentioned it. RoJ is sick af on PS5 coz the same ability that you said will interrupt RoJ will no longer be able to flinch Aerith out of RoJ. The latter is buffed up on the intergrade
@@cloudcs Yessir! It was given more armor on startup, which is one thing it definitely needed. Without that clutch Lustrous Shield, Aerith wouldn't be able to use that as a finisher on this version.

@@cloudcs I'm going to grab one probably as soon as Part 2 is announced at least. I've already played Intermission on both Normal and Hard, and done Top Secrets on my friend's PC, along beating Weiss myself in his save file. So the itch to buy a PS5 is lessened a bit because I've already played the new content. But I kinda want to get it just to make Tifa and Cloud more insane, and solo fights against certain bosses will definitely be more bearable with the cancel frames added in and shorter load times.
That is so awesome! Bladed staff, lustrous shield, fleeting familiar, ray of judgment... all of them I didn't use much during my playthrough, and only now I realized how much fun I have missed. I really love this game's battle mechanics and there are infinite possibilities with the equipment, abilities and materia!
And Aerith chilling, Rude sleeping and the toad Cloud hopping around is too funny to watch. lol
Haha yeah I try to go for multiple creative builds for most boss fights. I've taken a hiatus to play a couple other games and eventually nab a PS5 for improved gameplay, but I used a few different things against Rude, so check out my other battles too if you feel like it.

Yes, it's a costly move and isn't usually very efficient compared to just casting magic but it has an undeniable cool factor haha

Play Normal for the practice and materia training, then you can get into it. Its not too bad once you're used to everything. Good luck!

Two Magic Up, boosted critical hit damage, and I'm hitting his Elemental weakness of Wind. Rude doesn't have a lot of HP so this combination whittles him down fast.

Warding + Binding materia!
how you do that ? he kill her when i fight him 🤐
Sleep disables him, while I protect myself against sleep with Warding materia so he can't do it back to me. Then I use the down time to set up her abilities. Lustrous Shield blocks Shockwave in phase 2, so if he uses that, he can't touch her. Then you pile on damage with Tempest and other attacks to defeat him fast.
