I want an "Open all" option on the app. Imagine showing someone your Aptera from 20' away and saying, "Watch this," before the wheel pants, doors, and hatch start a synchronized dance. At 54, I should be more mature than this, but Aptera brings out my youthfulness!
Why not?? You only live once! I concur!
This isnt a model x. While it is definitely possible for the movement of the door or wheel pants to be fully powered I dont think that is what they are implying with this since Aptera is still trying to be affordable. I suspect the button in the UI is simply the release and the wheel pants will need to be manually lifted (could be wrong but why fully power the wheel pants and not the hatch/doors)
@@ccibinel I agree and am sure you are right, Aptera would not sacrifice weight to automate things like this. In fact, Chris has pointed out the simplicity of the doors being lifted by the gas shock, in the past.
I'm 71 and plan to be the coolest old lady in Volusia county, Florida when I get mine.
The wheels are definitely not automated. The doors are and I don't know about the trunk lid.
@@ccibinel I mean... I have twist lock Dzus fasteners on my honda insight wheel pants, they super easy and economical.... A vehicle like this should be striving for simplicity also above wiz bang so it can actually be reliable... an electronic locking mecahnism for the wheel pants is dumb. Honestly even with teh design they have now they should be targeting 14k not... 30k USD. At mitsubishi mirage is $17k.... a 3 wheeler EV should be able to beat that easy.
I love how easy it'll be to access the wheel/tire, especially for snow and ice clearing purposes!
I've been asking about changing the tires all along. This has finally answered 2/3 of my question. Still not sure how we'll be changing the back one.
Except the rear tire
@@KensaiProductionsit’s on a swing arm like a motorcycle, so I think you take off the cover, jack it up and take off the lug nuts. I’m sure they will do a video at some point.
I could see it being a bit of a pain since you have to duck under the body.
The reservation I did is for front wheel drive, so there should be less wear on the rear than if it was a drive wheel
@octaviomoreno6263 you probably can't afford it anyway ;)
@octaviomoreno6263 Ah, I see the issue - you still don't understand what it is!
That’s amazing! Love the ease of access
Yeah, at first I thought "okay, some nice promotion material" but that pivoting hub cap came as a sweet surprise 😁
Ease of access?
Should make wheel-removal LOTS easier.
So Ready for this to be real and in my driveway
14 years and counting....
Yes
I was. 14 years ago. All Hope is lost.
@@floatcheeseThis is a different company with different technology. The old Aptera hybrid died Friday, December 2, 2011 after just 5 yrs in existence. The current Aptera company and product were started in 2019 so it's not been 14 yrs - just 4.
Companies come and go, but good ideas never die. Hopefully this Aptera has cracked the code with the tech. They've already got the demand. Hopefully they'll make the 4e at some point because that would become their volume seller and the one I want.
wow the front wheel cover access is epic!
Totally and love the hydraulic lift too 🥳
I like the way the user interface on the tablet is coming together. In my opinion, way more intuitive and right-brain friendly than some of the other ev's out there. 👍👍
That will make changing the tire simple. Outstanding!
Just remember that the Aptera doesn't carry a spare tire or jack. Otherwise, every movible part is potential for noise and less overall strength. I personally prefer the added rigidity of a fixed fender even is I need to remove a few bolts to change the tire. The fender will probably be the most self-damaged part, so many will be used to changing it. I would prefer that they focus on what we really need, faster DC fast charging, cabin safety like a few more airbags and emergency exit and cooling of the AC and controller.
Good luck changing the back tire.
I am such an introvert but I cannot wait to drive this and tell people all about it and drive up to my 90 year old father-in-law's house in Wisconsin and see him get a kick out of it.
My father is 90 and is very excited to see our Aptera! He has said, many times already, that he hopes he lives long enough to see us pull into his driveway and to go for a ride. We live in Wisconsin too.
@@DemaGeek Mine is up by the Pestigo.
@@paulas_lens We are south/central Wisconsin, near the little town of Adams.
SPECTACULAR!!! Great job team!!! 🙌🏼🤩👍🏼👍🏼😻🖖🏼
The flipping of the wheel fender is a Fantastic positive addition that will make many customers happy! I was thinking about this over a year ago glad this had been adopted by the design team. Must have feature.
Great, you made me drool on myself.
The solar electric car that looks like an airplane is ready to fly! 0:23
Great video that finally showcases how gorgeous and amazing this car is. Congrats! Keep it up!
Thanks for the video. Love the access to the front tires! It actually raised the question in my mind, about about airing up/changing the rear tire. I have no doubt there is a solution for it. Just curious what it is. I put in my reservation years ago, and am happy to wait till the Aptera is well thought out. Keep up the amazing work!
Exceptional modeling and rendering work 👏
Because it seems to be the only thing they seriously do since the beginning.
wasted supporter money
How many years has it been, since they first accepted preorders?
I love their idea of a car, but it looks like they will never deliver :/
Sweet aero covers!
design, functionality, efficiency, beauty... I love it!!!
wow thats amazing!! i love the look of the os!
What a beauty! Couldn't tell if there was a Stalk on the right side though the left looked loaded.
Cool! First view of the dash screen.
Hi Aptera. Awesome update. Fantastic progress so far with the production intend Aptera. Can you show us a video of how to access the rear wheel/tire, please? Thank you. I can't wait to get my hand on my Aptera 😊
There are SO MANY new details here!!!
Carplay icon was spotted.
Oh yeah! Inspiring. Can't wait to get mine.
Id love to buy this some day, the philippine's scorching temperature is perfect for this❤
Ohh this fills me with joy, as someone who lives somewhere that we often need to clear snow out of wheel wells.
Love! 💙
I'm guessing that you won't really have to. The tire moves with the wheel pant and there is a relatively small gap between the tire and the inside of the wheel pant. The friction of the spinning tire will melt the snow & ice.
@@garywozniak7742 that’d of course be ideal, and I’m hoping for that, but the fact the wheel pant will be easily liftable like this is still a relief and yet another thing to ease concerns.
(We also need to change from summer to winter tires and back again twice a year, so it’s still a nice feature to have.)
Very cool. Hope you guys succeed beyond all expectations.
succeed at all
Now my wife wants one as well!
Gorgeous 😍
Can’t wait for my Launch Edition!
Want it
Wow!!! Go Aptera!!
Pivoting wheel cover... Brilliant!
Love it and let’s go Aptera!
bro that's so cool
THE TOP BREAK LIGHT LOOKS LIKE A HEART!!!!! ❤
Seeing how flats could be addressed easily is a relief. Been wondering about that.
2 out of three aint bad🎶😂 Don’t forget the rear tyre
New third brake light to match the solar cells, I dig it
That is an important feature. I'm not sure how visible the taillights are on that narrow backend.
Great to see what looks like a concept car actually come to fruition!
Anyone else catch the wiper fluid fill location in the driver door jam?
Anyone else who noticed the wiper fluid cap right when the door opened?
The blue thingie.
Nicely done!
Love it. Can't wait until mine comes in❤❤
Love it
I love it!... 💚😍
Very fun video ! Had to play it twice just because of the 'smile' factor !!!
Love it! ❤
You really get the feeling that it is getting close to release now.
IN - my driveway 😊
Love the secondary display UI redesign ❤.
Awesome.
You guys NEVER cease to amaze! How often do we see a radical concept car get better and better? Answer : NEVER,, until Aptera!
This makes me want to invest even more in them!
The UI looks really really good!
wow, this is really starting to come together. so much more car than it was pre 2009!
Good solution for access to the front wheels. Still waiting to see the numbers from the wind tunnel testing a few months ago, and to see a production-ready model.
As the production model will slightly differ in some details from the Gamma prototype Aptera decided to not release the windtunnel numbers obtained with the Gamma. We have to wait. Spoiler alert: air drag coefficient has been improved a bit since thy said it will be 0.13!
Aptera! No end to innovations and disruptiveness!
Cannot wait till it gets to sunny Australia 🇦🇺
Awesome! Much needed feature! Now maybe the rear could have a permanent hub mounted air up system like some semi’s/buses, with the valve tucked inside the bunk ? 🤔
What a great feature that would be!
Probs not something they would look at for this version. But surely it could be done DIY aftermarket
Called it. Opening wheel pants is easy.
Here's to you guys being successful bringing this wonderful vision to actual production, at volume and profitably👍
Beautiful! Can't wait to get mine.
Of Course we LOVE that, Keep up the good wok! As an Investor and reservation holder I eagerly await the production of the finished car.
Love the UI…nice big buttons.
The Hype is real guys!!!!
Keep on going Aptera, my driveway will look better once I pick it up
Love the new UI. It much more inline with my own expectations. Please give us the option to manually disable passenger airbag so i can bring my children in the Aptera. Alternately, let my dog ride shotgun instead of being relegated to the hatch.
Love that the UI shows tire pressure per tire or at least the front 2. I assume the back tire pressure can also be shown? My current 2018 Honda Fit just tells me low tire pressure, but not which one specifically. Also curious if the UI is set, customizable, etc? Personally, I don't think I need tire pressure info so close to me as I drive, but the controls to skip/pause the current song would be much better, imo, to be closer to the driver. Granted, yes, once driving, both hands should be on the yolk and eyes on the road. Maybe the yolk buttons can be used to skip/pause a track, if the UI is set as is?
Wow. Real Love. Noticed the Car Play Symbol top left corner of the screen. And physical drive selector buttons are still there below the screen.
This is wonderful! Cant wait for my aptera!
Go go go! Ride with the Sun!
I can’t wait to get mine.
I want one SOOOOOO bad!😁😁😁
What a great idea. Good job.
I'm just trying to get my poor Prius to last just a little while longer so I can sell it and get an Aptera.
Yep. Still driving my 2005 Prius with 212K+ miles on it. I pre-ordered almost 3 years ago, so maybe the end of next year?
@@michaelmay9958 Think of those of us still driving our Gen 1 Honda Insights - mine is a 2001. There are several of us.
Looking really refined and good
Lookin good!
Loving this so far guys. Currently a TEsla owner but I’d sure look into one of these especially with the solar charging. Any chance you’ll make it up to NorCal to show one off?
They said a while ago they were coming here and to check “events”. I do but nothing yet. I thought Fleet Week for sure but nope.
how do you inflate the rear tire? move the car until the filler is at the very bottom?
Woah I never even thought of that
the front tires reveal was very surprising and practical! I am hopeful for something similar treatment for the rear wheel as well! Can't wait for the the next video!
As the owner of a first generation Honda Insight, that's my usual approach. The rear skirts on that car are removable, but it's much faster just to hop in and drive it a foot or two till the valve stem is accessible (or just put it in neutral and push... very light car). I wouldn't be surprised if the rear wheel on the Aptera takes a similar approach, where while you can remove the fairing, it's easier just to roll it a bit.
@@v-raze1823 Ya unfortunately the rear wont be as sexy but shouldnt be a problem. Despite the animation I suspect the release is just releasing a solenoid to allowing it to be lifted not fully powered (ie like a car hood).
@@v-raze1823 As a fellow Gen 1 Honda Insight owner, that is what I do. I also did it with my larger motorcycles. This is not a strange experience for many of us. I also got used to carrying plug kits and a DC inflator pump for tire repair, and now use that on all my vehicles, including trucks.
I have one on order. It will match my MYLR perfectly.
HOTNESS!❤
Beautiful
Refining wonderfully! Wheel pants went from aero necessity to showboat feature. Perhaps next tweak is the protruding plate light knob changed to a concealed frame light all around a slightly recessed license plate.
cant wait tot get the camper model
Well you just took care of my concerns! 😂
Thank you!
Gotta say, I'm glad to see that they're not doing the Tesla design language of "put everything on the central touchscreen. If they want a driver dash screen, charge them $40k for it".
The yoke is concerning, but as long as they do it the Lexus way of steer-by-wire so they can properly adjust the sensitivity of the steering based on speed, then I'm all for it.
Great video guys 👍🏼
Incredible
That looks like fun. Can't wait to see how it holds up in snow/ice! The renders look pretty good. Any chance of a "test drive" in Gran Turismo?
I live in Iowa, and plan to show off my Aptera driving in Icy conditions with an early model.
As long as it eventually gets delivered lol
Aptera needs to find a way of making a 'base model' aptera, and absolutely churn them out at low cost, while still making a margin on each car sold. This is what the market is hungry for: an affordable EV. Look at how well the MG4 and BYD Dolphin are doing as evidence to that fact. Add to that the fact that the aptera has such an amazing range, and can literally self-charge, then you are onto a winner here.
I just can't wait!
I want one.
Good job keeping up the excitement. I would guess there is some kind of hatch for the rear tire.
Now they need a door to easily access the back tire. Unless it's already there? Can't wait to get mine!
Definitely need to offer a round option to the yoke. It will be a safety issue, if not a mandatory recall problem if the steering can't go lock to lock in a half turn. The outside front wheel shrouds need to pick up on the non-rotating part of the axle stub.
I actually find this quite beautiful (as opposed to the dismal Cybertruck). I really hope you can find a way to bring this to market with a decent price and spec. If you can, I think you will sell millions.
Very cool 👍🏼👍🏼
how to change the wheel at the back? how difficult is it, any video to show.
Game changer. Effortless wheels removal
I love this... I was wondering about checking the air pressure in the tires.
It’s displayed on the screen, but you could manually do it also
I hope the mechanicals of opening the wheel covers are manual and not electrical/automated otherwise the one time you'll need to get access to the wheel, it wont work. Id rather carry a tool to unlatch it manually. The less unnecessary electrical things, the more reliable it will be.
really liked the "fartophone" in the sound track!
I'm retired ... And have disability issues And on an extreme budget I cannot afford to pay cash for one.... That's my stupidity however I would love to buy one... If the payment would be reasonable / low enough per month I could do it 🤪🙏😆
i would love to see how it handles snow, for instance upstate ny
We have seen some video of gamma in the snow in Switzerland. I will be showing off my Aptera in snow during Iowa winters. The traction control is superior to any other similar sized car, and i expect it to do very well with proper tires.
