As to aligning the valve stem, Chris from Aptera wrote on Reddit:
"It’s a center-mounted air valve, so you’ll never need to clock the wheel to put air in. :)"

Whoever does their rendering, needs a raise. They are quite well done. On a side note, it shows how to put air in the tire, but what about changing the back tire?
What about getting the rear tires valve stem lined up with the the fixed round hole open when the tire shroud's door flap is open, and the valve is locate who knows where within 360 degrees of rotation that you can not see ? Is this a two person air filling procedure requiring pulling forward to hit metal traffic protection posts, or back out into a crowded convenience store parking lot several extra feet to align valve stem with ooen air fill door while customers high, or low in a hurry to buy / drink more energy drinks speed buy. Hmmmm. Details. Details. Details.
Or put a hinge on the cover. Or make easy to remove….?
I would imagine you would need to remove both (or at least one) of those rear panels to access the tire. The access door is just a quick way to pump the tire up with our removing the entire panel.
Could just air from the hub…
Yeah, a little disappointed at how small that little access port is. I'm not sure how useful that will actually be. Seems like you'd have to open it and have someone else back it up until you can access the stem. I was hoping for something better than this. Hope Aptera gives a demo video on how airing up that back tire will work, and showing what it will take to change that tire.
Other than that though, the car looks better every time I see one of these. I think the car is going to be a game changer. Can't wait to get mine!

Yolk failure needs to go or be optional. The driving videos highlight just how bad it is in the same way as the plaid.
@@fredio54 I like it lol. Takes the top half out of the way for display view. Plus once the comma AI is usable in the production model it honestly won’t matter a ton. To each their own though.

If so, I can understand why you’d be concerned, as it remains to be seen exactly what the company will need to do to get the vehicle homologated for the European market - though I know that’s something they plan to do.
For those of us in the United States planning to buy an Aptera, the distinction isn’t really relevant. For all practical purposes it’s a car.

Why am I salivating ?
I had not noticed before how the lighted ridge on the wheel pants is raised in the front. Very cool. And the Tent stowage it nice.
I'll just get normal tents instead. I struggle to see the value of making a low volume add on tent that costs 3x that of a good lightweight tent from a proven brand. You can get a 1, 3 and 8 man tent for the same price and backpack, car camp, or camp with the entire family for the same price.

@ccibinel I'm guessing thst you already know but the the tent is designed to fit over the open hatch. There is about 7 feet of room behind the back seats. Two people can sleep back there. They also mentioned a camping mode where the Aptera HVAC system will heat or cool the vehicle while you are camping. The tent is a nice option for those who want it.
@@garywozniak7742 car camping is bad enough now people need air conditioning... That's fake camping 🤣
@@ccibinel it extends the season and environments. You could more easily camp in very cold weather or vey hot weather. Why would you freeze or roast your a#$ off if you dont have to ?The tent doesn't obstruct the solar panels on the hatch so they will charge the battery while you are camping. Having said that, I haven't selected the option, but I think it is a great idea and may add it. I'm not going to enjoy winter camping in a small tent on the ground, or in an area with daytime highs of 115 or more and lows at night in the 90's.

@@Okurka. Why state things as facts that you have zero knowledge of? The first Aptera is about 1/3 the price of the first Tesla Roadster, and has much better acceleration, without breaking the transmission the way those did.
@@Okurka. It will be as cheap as they can make it while being a compelling vehicle. It will almost certainly be cheaper than any current Tesla before government incentives are accounted for. It is very unfortunate that to get the IRA swing vote they cut the incentives for e-motorcycles/autocycles and states similarly don't incentivize them much. With legacy auto backing away EVs and most others losing a ton of money we are in for a scary future if Tesla is allowed to have a near monopoly on the industry in 10-15 years.

@@ccibinel By the time this gets produced, in small numbers if at all, there will be a Tesla model that's 10k cheaper than Aptera's base model.
I am happt to see the white dash and door covers are simple curves. Makes it way easier to re-skin.

Was hoping there'd be a (relatively) easy way to take off the wheel pants for service and/or in situations where more ground clearance is needed (like in snowy situations), but this is likely way quieter and cheaper, so I guess I'll just be waiting until the off-road package is available
Ditto for me (I'm in Canada). Not waiting for off-road package, but will wait for instructions to swap wheel pants of the LE I've chosen...

Hum. Was thinking the rear wheel skirt was gonna snap off for tire repair.
No worries, 120,000 miles on my EV and got my first flat. Tire pressure warning system alerted me first.
Charge on!
I have around 1/2 million miles on 2 wheels and have always used tire plug kits and a DC inflator. I repaired more car tires of folks I came across with flats than I did of my own, and found that they worked well for my truck tires as well.

I think these will be great for Florida. The inside appears to have more usable space than the Model Y. Functional space is important to me. Shopping and camping space needed. That rear tire opening could be for one large nut to remove tire. Like single-sided swingarm on motorcycle.

When the first tesla roadster came out i was a big fan.
This aptera is what they should have done next:
A really sexy aerodynamic and lightweight solar powered car with reasonable speed and brilliant range.
Instead Tesla build expensive high speed cars that nobody really needs with stupid self driving features.
It was always a dream of me to travel in a car that is powered by sunlight alone.
This could make the dream com true.
The only thing i would improve is:
More Solar Cells on the doors and on the wheel covers so that you come to a total of 1000 Watts.
This had the advantage that also in morning and evening hours where the sun stands near to the horizon
could deliver pure sun-energy.

They can't make the shell smaller so they'll need to move the front wheels closer together which will affect the turning circle and overall handling of the vehicle.

I have been a fan of aptera for many years now, and my preorder is for a right hand drive, so it will be another few years before I get it. However I am just considering how easy or how expensive it would be to change out or update the battery, especially if we are thinking of passing it down to our kids or nephews or nieces etc...
That new seam on the belly pan, does it allow easier access for battery cell service?
Where do you live? Because this three-wheeler isn't road legal in most countries as it's wider than a Humvee.
Changing battery modules certainly will be a major task but perfectly doable, they planned for this. But upgrading the battery to a different capacity will imply to change the entire battery and BMS. So no, there will not be a reasonably easy access to the battery cells. Regarding the right hand drive Chris Anthony told me in February 2023 that this will not be near as big of an additional engineering and production effort as it is the case for legacy cars because due to the much simpler drive train there is much more space and freedom to switch the steering wheel/yoke to the other side. I guess that one additional year of waiting will be it more or less.

Yes! Hope the release is soon, I’m practically chomping at the bit here. I’ve wanted an electric car since I was little and so many people told me it was unrealistic that I would see one in my lifetime. (And for the people who want to know how to change the tire, I’m sure it’s in the manual)

it might be subject to change, but they have talked about how the rear wheel cover is attached by a handful of bolts so it will be quite easy to remove.

This vehicle will not hit the market whatsoever. By the time they make 30 vehicles per day, which is 10 000 per year NOBODY is going to buy it. That happened already a few times to the similar companies and it WILL happen to Aptera. And you know what Chris and Steve are going to say to you?
They are going to say "uuupsss". We are sorry. It's beyond our control. Thank you for your tremendous support. And you know when they are going to say that? When you stop paying for their slippery fantasies. They have no clue how to make this project and they have no clue how to make it profitable. The only thing they are good at is making promising faces when asking you for another few thousand bucks. It's going to be over soon. When they fail to collect 5 millions for the "last" 500 never going to be launched "launch" editions they will extend that collection for another let's say six months and then announce a failure. And yes, the stock market. They will NOT go to jail for lying to investors as they are not selling public shares. And they are not selling public shares because they are aware of the previous statement.

The last company Chris co-founded and took public is now rated a buy by every analyst following it. They did not "suddenly forget" how to start and run a successful company, and have a demonstrated record of success.

There will be NO sales of any type of Aptera within the next 7 years which would be under 25000 dollars in mass production. And therefore there will be no reasonable members of the public who could've afford it.
2. There will be no calendar quarter in the next seven years where the Aptera company shows any kind of profit.
3. There will be no Aptera company existing in 2031.
I really like the shot with the tent in the little cubby, if only the tent were better than the iteration you see currently online. I don’t see how the current tent can keep out rain or strong winds.
The tent you saw in the original videos won't fit the PI builds. It will be quite different, including size.
They are working with a major tent manufacturer to redesign the tent.

It’s really just to get access to the valve stem. You need to remove the whole rear cowl to take off the tire. They’ve said it only takes a couple minutes.
