Hopefully doing something similar within the next few months, same with the cabover. Should be a nice welding project to keep the hands busy =p

I'm invested since I'm planning on doing the same

Awesome! We're so happy with the headroom and extra space. Definitely worth it.

Thank you for posting the process. The C Channel makes so much sense over just adding extensions and then adding paneling. I'm about 3-4 months out from this myself. Wonder if Sawyer is looking for more work. Michigan is a ways from MN. Just amazing to see someone care so much about doing it right. Hard to find these days.

He's an awesome welder. We're considering putting a 'how-to' manual together. Would that be something you're interested in?

@@happybonesfamily Absolutely, that would be amazing. There is a lack of content on this subject or just terrible approaches that I have come across from others who just butchered their ambulance roofs. You two put out great content... Can't wait to see more.

Nice work mate and you're lucky to have such a cool welder! I'm pretty sure I have a very similar box that I'm working on. It has the same doors location and the same type of framing. Was yours 6' tall to start with? I'm debating if I'll also raise mine, so looking at your progress is very interesting. I'm building another poptop for mine but another 6" of overall height wouldn't hurt either! I'll post some pics on FB, seeya there!

Awesome! A pop top will be nice. Our original height was 5'10" The extra room is great, but if you can stand up without the roof raise, maybe you can get away without one? See you on FB!

Did you give away any aluminum or metal that could have been used in fabricating this project?

Where did you source the aluminum C channel and what gauge did you use? Thanks!

We just used a local metal supplier who cut and bent the 1/8" aluminum into a C channel.

That looks great. How much do you think the cost will be?

A simple conversion can be done for $5-15k where more elaborate ones will run around $40k. Ours will be more on the elaborate side.
