Hello! We're glad you're here! Subscribe to follow our family's adventures! The original rear bumper on the ambulance wouldn't work for the uses we have in mind for this vehicle. the "rock climbing ladder" is nice. can you point me to these particular ones?
Your video was so sweet. Your boys were adorable and I loved seeing your interactions with them. Oooh and Willow trees are my fave too - high five to your son!! Anyhoo, we're considering traveling to Lisbon with my slightly older boys and your video was helpful! Thank you!
What about cooking and water?
Where can I find that c channel?!
Electric=moped, 🫵🏻 not BICYCLE! Corruption of the human spirit & soul is battery powered human transport.
😀👍👍
Nice job ... how many gallons did you use? Thanks!
Any updates on this?
Look for more this spring :)
Hi Thank you for the video :) May I know which month/season that you went there? I plan to visit lisbon on Winter
We were there in October :)
@ Thank you :)
Best walk around video I've seen in a long time...
Thanks :) Lance has a great set up!
How goes the Ambulance build?
Slow going...we had a baby in August so that slowed things down this year. We'll get back to it soon! We're itching to get back on the road 🙂
I would have Raptor Lined the roof and then applied the Henry's Tropi-Cool, so that the Raptor coating was one contiguous encapsulating "membrane," and the Tropi-Cool added on top for a second layer of protection and heat abatement.
I'm buying one but I am terrible at building 😮. Saying I'm nervous is an understatement
imagine bringing rum cola on a rumly tractor back in the days
Would love to see an interior video. The seats you used and what seats allowed you to install car seats for the kids!
Would you be able to do this for a customer?
Wow! Amazing video ❤
Thank you! 😄
Did you removed the decals before the paint? Also how many cans did you end up using? thanks
Most people won’t be able to afford the roof raise and cabover but they would be nice additions to an ambulance build. You mentioned that your roof raise cost was closer to $40k, does that include the cabover? If not, what was the additional cost?
Did you place any sound deadening pads before installing the insulation?
Did you give away any aluminum or metal that could have been used in fabricating this project?
Doing almost the same setup on my 2022 Tundra TRD PRO, but looks like I will be 600-800 pounds over payload, do you have the same issue? I will be installing the Old Man Emu, powerbrakes, springs, etc. to mitigate.
How come you didn't get a box truck? It seems like all the mods negate the things that make ambos unique
What toilet do you guys use?
Where was the home you rented on the mountains it looks amazing for kids?
Colares, Portugal! It was amazing :)
Whats the tire size your running?
we have a 2007 crestline but we learnt a lot from your build. But hey an ambulance is built way well any way.
On a tundra 2021 , installing a GFC , do I have to change my suspension ?
Hey just found your channel. I just spent 3 days trying to pull two cabinets out. a lot of stripped hidden screws. Finally got mad and pulled them with tractor and loader. That made short work of it. Where did your mystery wires end up going?
legit.
Hopefully doing something similar within the next few months, same with the cabover. Should be a nice welding project to keep the hands busy =p
Is it 5.5 ft bed ? Great setup looking to get one for my Tacoma.
Yes! We're actually selling it if you're interested. Our family is growing and we need something bigger - we're sad to see it go. The listing for the Khaya is in the description box of the video :)
This video definitely provided some ideas and changed my mind on ambulances.
Thank you for sharing! Super helpful! How old were your boys? I’m wondering if I need a stroller for my younger one.
Hello! They were 5 and 3 at the time :) strollers can be helpful!
Is it done yet I just bought a 2014 international Terrastar that I’m converting into a contractor work vehicle. Love what you guys have done anxiously waiting the finish product.
Hello! It's not done yet. We took a break during the winter (Michigan is quite cold and snowy)! We'll be back at it soon. Good luck with your conversion!
Can’t wait to see it done!! Thanks I’m in Massachusetts so it’s cold here as well so my project is on hold for a few more weeks . Good luck!! Cheers
Olá, não hola,hola é espanhol
Yes! My mistake :) thank you.
So far this is my favorite camper setup. Question though, how do the kids get ventilation in that bottom bed if the door is closed?
Hello! If it's hot, we keep the back door open with the bug net zipped shut. If it's cold and the heater is on, we open the small "hatch" door for heat to rise and air to move.
Dry weight on base Khaya is 880 lbs., your payload is 1180. With people, fuel, gear, and accessories to the camper, you are very overweight. Not being an ass but that is unsafe.
We upgraded the suspension to old manu emu heavy and added airbags which made it ride very nicely. However, yes, we were over the factory payload.
I have a similar sized Ambo..do you have an estimate of how many quarts of the bed liner it takes to do the job? OMG literally 3 seconds after I hit play it popped up on the screen! Great job, loving the channel. Keep putting on those safety glasses. Wouldn't mind seeing the hot glue popsicle stick version-those were fantastic.
How many cans of raptor liner did you use? I am trying to figure out my budget on my upcoming conversion.
It was somewhere around 24 cans.
Awesome job utilizing the cabover space 👍
Thanks! 👍
This was by far the best overview/tour of the Khaya that I’ve seen. Great job! I’ve been researching for over 18 months, and will be living on the road for 4-6 months a year, just myself. Based off of this review, I think I’m Team Khaya. I was team Canopy Camper, butttttttt…I think I’ve switched!
They are both great campers! The biggest upside of the Khaya is that you can remove it quickly and keep everything assembled. FYI, we are selling ours for $28k if you are interested. We are building an ambulance for full time travel.
Put me on the short list as a potential buyer once your done with it, I already like the layout, the Q option and lifting the roof (i'm 6-3). This one checks all my boxes :)
I think it’s beautiful/ just want know total cost of the whole build!
The camper was around $40k after our upgrades and features.
You guys would have been better off and more cost effective to have bought a used SWAT Command vehicle that is built like an ambulance, but has a higher roof and doesn’t infringe on the integrity of the roof structure and the safety of the box of the ambulance. The reason people buy an ambulance is for the safety of the box and the storage capacity you have. You guys just destroyed the safety of the box. I built a lot of ambulances and I will say you guys are extreme. By the time and money you guys will have invested in this used ambulance, you could have a bought a brand new SWAT vehicle that you could have done anything with and it would be new with a warranty. Guess some people just have more money than others?? Thank you for your service, as I’m a retired Army Captain. Good luck on the rest of the build. Excited to see the finished product. Happy Trails!!
That may have been a lot easier 😂
Where can I get the roof rack, and brackets
so glad to know more about EcoFlow!
Just curious why you went with that company and not someone else? Renogy and Victron both have excellent history but would require more of a custom design. Keep up the great work! 😊
We chose EcoFlow due to its simplicity :)
Very bad video.
Out of curiosity, what made this video 'very bad'?
Ooooh! I was looking at that for my build. Very nice
