Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla & Með blóðnasir (Live In Ásbyrgi) [Remastered Heima Extra]

- August 4th, 2006. "It’s a raw and elemental kind of performance, perhaps informed by the knowledge that there are no more gigs to follow. I know it’s a good thing we’ve done here and that it’s going to look amazing on film, but on the night with the significance weighing heavy all around it is hard not to feel a little less than completely present. Maybe I want the sky to crack and lighting to strike and Slipneir’s foot to appear fleetingly through the tempestuous clouds. Anyway, I challenge anyone to have seen a better or more significant show anywhere in the world tonight.
And that’s that. Whisky is drunk (Peter tour manager calculates we have consumed 87 bottles of Chivas Regal on this two-week tour), bananas with chocolate and veggie sausages are barbequed on a little candle-lit square out the back, where in the dim past locals used to host summer concerts before going to midnight horse rides round the canyon lip, but there is no apocalyptic end of tour blow-out. Everyone perhaps wants to be alone with their reflections on this ambitious and ridiculous thing we’ve just completed against the odds." - John Best - Видеоклипы
This version of Hoppipolla makes me cry and want to stay alive at the same time.
Thats exactly my feeling ever and ever with this song . . .
Me too!
Keep the faith
Diga olá!
me too ...
Two years ago, on Christmas Eve, I showed this superb video to my sister, I told her that this was the finest video ever created; I remember watching her face, her smile and even a little tear drop at the end of it… She totally agreed with me without saying a single word, I felt it… Today it’s been 3 painful months since her departure, and every time I watch this masterpiece my heart heals…
We all live on through the music we love.
Sending ❤️ your way.
Eu sinto muito. Mas ela está bem, pode ter certeza.
Te abrazo Damián en GDL tienes un amigo!!
😀
I was there. It was a spectacular show. One of my favourite places with my favourite band
what's the story? is it just an open field in the middle of trees? is it a park? it looks amazing. and I would love to see it someday
Suertudo.
@@aaronmumbles3202 It's a beautiful canyon in Iceland, it's called Ásbyrgi
If I have one regret in life, it's that I wasn't there.
😮WOW!!!!
Over the holidays, I played a card game with my family that involved answering several questions about ourselves. One was, "What's your favorite RUclips video?" This video was my answer. Everyone else's was either a cat video or someone getting hit in the nuts. Hell of a way to find out I was adopted.
This is my favourite video too ❤️
@@reilici379 Did we just become best friends? lol
😂
The vibe there is no drama, no anger, stress-free. This is what every culture strives for.
I'm 74 years old and haven't a clue what they're saying...I love the sound of the voices and the music 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
they are singing about how wonderful it would be if Stalin was still alive
@@georgematkin2658That's false but made me laugh lol
It’s all about the music. Pure bliss of an emotional moment in time. It’s all life is. Best advice I’ve heard is this”keep breathing”.
@@georgematkin2658 wait what? Lord Stalin dead?
67 and likewise clueless yet enthralled.
The atmosphere in this video and concert is overwhelmingly pure and peaceful.
yes mate, musicians make music & strangers feel love for each other

@@kaidoChess it was beautiful, but quickly realized how little concert etiquette people hold now
There is something about this video, and this version of Hoppipolla that brings a lot of comfort and peace to me.
This song truly does make me long for a memory I’ve never experienced. Truly indescribable

MB83 - Outro!
My wife and I had a long, well-discussed playlist for our wedding day. This was the song we danced to solo after we were officially married and ate the cake and all that.
I always come here to listen to this superb song and see this dog 2:43 wearing a hat. Both melt my heart ❤️
dog with hat = perfect
I heard this song in Cairo, Berlin and now in Toronto! over 15 years and same enjoying >>>
song 'hoppípola' brings me back to my childhood🥰🥰😇
The music matches the landscape. Both hauntingly beautiful.
Thanks for uploading these. Heima is a film that accompanied me through transcendental moments in my life and it never fails to trigger feelings no other band has.
Despise not knowing anything about the icelandic language, there is a spirit in your music that has resonated within me for all these years that I will forever cherish.
There are only 2 or 3 songs that make me so emotional, and this is one of them ❤
This is so beautiful it almost seems unreal!
This is Sigur Cos at their peak. Then Jonsi started wearing a trench coat and became a rockstar. I miss the early days of Sigur. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I'm gonna cry.
We saw Sigur Ros live twice. 8 & 10 years ago. Milwaukee & Chicago. Beautiful concerts
I was in Ásbyrgi at sunset a few weeks ago and it was so magical. I can only imagine how transcendent it would have been to have been present there for this performance!
This song reminds me of the past, telling me that I must be grateful for the life I've lived. And it also tells me that, with this awareness and these memories in my heart, I must live the present and await the future with joy. Nice song
Stunning timeless classic.
Even after all these years, it is still one of the most powerful pieces of music (and video) I have ever heard. Sheer joy😸
This will forever be the most meaningful live performance from any band for many reasons.
After 18 years this is still one of my favorite Sigur Ros live performance
Most emotional song in the world. I really wonder the atmosphere of Iceland thnks to Sigur Ros
This is the most beautiful piece I've seen and heard in a very long time...
I love returning to this video when I’m feeling low ❤ I feel at peace
Beautiful as ever!
I discovered Sigur Ros about two weeks before they played in my town. They were sold out. I could have cried.
finally found this masterpiece. I heard about this song before but forgot the title and cant seem to find it at first🎉
This is awesome. The audience seems to be a very educated people.
Beauty beyond words. Only posting to say I wished they performed this live when I see them in NYC this year
I have told my family to play this song at my wake. This is an absolute must.
2021 and still dreaming when the tune start...

Whenever I hear this song, I feel like I'm in the river and see the sun shining through the leaves
I want this played at my funeral
I showed this to my students, who are from all around the world, and they all wanted to go to Iceland and learn ”hoplandish”. Some were crying…

Meo bloonasir sounds so good. The rhythm is so hypnotic.
This song is almost a prayer....Greetings from Brazil.
I do not understand a word of Icelandic. But I really love this band, his music, his atmosphere; I have been in Iceland 12 years ago and I promised I will come back another time. Do not know when but I’ll do it, maybe to listen them playing their amazing music
Kin ell, I'm 67 and this has me in bits, just like they did in Manchester in 2017. Love em
Between this version of the song and the beauty of Iceland, not many videos can top this
My favorite song. My favorite band. My favorite place on earth
Absolutely marvellous! 💓💓💓
There's just something about this song. 😍
This song feels like a powerful journey and it just fills with me with so much emotion .
A few months back I lost my partner of 7 years , and this song feels like a journey of beginning hope to highs and lows of sadness and heartbreak throughout the relationship and then rising back at the end to try pull back through .
Literally puts me in tears every time .
It wasn’t our song but it makes me think of my past relationship .
What a WONDERFUL MUSIC !!!
Many thanks Sigur Ros - Takk
