Sigur Rós HEIMA Full Extended Re-edit version without interviews, voice-overs, vintage clips etc

- Completely new and very much improved over my previous version!
This is a re-cut, extended and very different version of the wonderful Sigur Ros tour movie Heima. A unique selection and combination of all available audio-visual material connected to this film. The result is full, uninterupted performaces, beautiful landscapes and not much more. Straight to the core. No interviews, voice-overs or other distracting stuff. I've also rearranged the track order and cut out more than a few segments completely. All to my taste. This edit is very much "me", for better or worse.
The aim has been to get to the point and focus on the music. More timeless if you will. Make it a film out of the tour, rather than about it. Less a teaser-trailer for something and more a chance to, in some small way, experince it as it was. This way I hope my version can serve as a companion piece to the original.
Most things left out are both good and interesting but without a place in this particular version. Without the interviews you don´t get the feeling of meeting the band and getting to know them. Instead there is a much more impersonal but closer fly-on-the-wall perspective, witch I for one, think is more rewarding in the long run. Less info - more magic...
I´ve touched pretty much every part of the film in one way or another so a lot has changed. Not only concerning the interviews, voice overs etc. But also things that I (in my humble opinion) find... problematic... More than a few jump- and axial cuts removed. I won´t get into details about that but feel free to ask questions and I will try to remember what I've done... If you know this film by heart you will of couse notice the crazy amount of tweaks. My set goal has been to make a newcomer think everything is totaly natural and normal.
This new cut is made completely from scratch and is an improvement over the 2018 version on all accounts. If you liked the previous one I dare to say you will absolutely adore this one. (You will be hard pressed to find a more complete experince of Popplagið from this tour I think...)
Enjoy /// spiderbite

This makes me want to go back to when nobody had cell phones and people would just enjoy the moment.
Fun fact: Heima was the first film ever to debut and stream live on RUclips (was also was free).
Oh wow!
somehow kept my dvd/photo book of this pristine. one of my favorite hard copies
I actually have a printscreen of RUclips from that day! The whole RUclips home page was dedicated to Sigur Rós! 🖤
@@hellomagmile wooo would you share it?
I was in the crowd for the free concert in Reykjavik, just stumbled upon it by chance...the culmination of an epic day of hiking and touring one of the fjords in search of puffins and waterfalls.
I used to watch this full video on DVD when I was on acid : )))) good old times
i have a tab of acid next to me.... considering...
I watched Heima for the first time back in 2011. After watching it I was so determined to go to Iceland one day. 3 years later I fulfilled my promise, with Sigur Ros soundtracking my trip of course :') Thank you for this incredible work!
I watched it around the same time and fell in love with Iceland! Will get to go there someday hopefully!
@@shubhamnh Hope you will too! It's an incredible place
Been dreaming for Iceland for nearly 25 years listening to this band. Well, i fulfilled my dreams last month. The problem is: i really have to go back 😅
@@stephanemenet5854 Me too 😂😂
I too went to Iceland (in 2013) because of this film! (and was not disappointed.) And because of that trip we have since explored some other countries in Scandinavia etc, most recently the Faroe Islands. Cheers @adhiantos!
i don't know myself why i spontaneously burst into tears..
thanks for uploading this
Your mind is trying to communicate something to you... Take the time to listen. But crying to Sigur Ros is quite common I guess. And a good thing. Cleansing.
same here🤍
Me too. This music is rich.
My film school teacher Alan Calzatti worked on Heima. It was more like a nature documentary and he and Dean DeBlois were called in to fix it. I think thewy did a remarkable job with what they were given. I still remember getting to watch them do telecining at Rhino, and getting to see the film before it was released. As a massive Sigur Rós fan this was a huge deal! There was also a screening outside in Hollywood he was a part of. Very good times. Rest In peace Alan
god bless your soul yousef. Sigur ros helped me grief over the passing of my bestfriend. I cry everytime i listen to them.
gosh, I'm sorry. I can see how this music would be a comfort.
There is a dominant theme at the heart of Sigur Ros's work, which can only be translated by the language of sounds: that of time which advances inexorably, gradually altering beings and things in its path, towards death and oblivion 🤫
nicely said, friend.

This video is amazing, so this band is. I still remember how I knew them. It was in Sónar Festival (Barcelona) around 2002-3. I just finished of listening my favorite band of the night and in my way to another stage I suddenly listened something strange, a kind of music I have never heard before. I turned my head and saw what it looked like a string quartet, a guy in the piano, a drum, electric guitar, etc... (1:02:40) I was like "whats going on here", the ambient was very noisy, I barely could listen properly the song at that point, but nevertheless some force grab my atention enough to stay there. Next thing I know there was another guy next to me, with amazed face looking at them. We both look each other and I asked him "do you know them?". "No", he said "but they sound cool isn´t?" We started to speak a little bit, and he invited me to some weed. We really felt the need to listen the music properly so we moved closer of stage. Once there, I started to feel that particular kind of magic Sigur Ross can achiev with their music. I stood hipnotized until the end. I said goodbye to my unknown friend, knowing we had a super enjoyable moment together, and while comming back home late at night, I realized I never knew the name of that band. Some days after, I could know who they are.
It´s not easy a unknown band wins you over in the middle of a multi band festival, with such a caothgic ambient, but they did because they are magicals.
sounds like a cool moment, Nice!
absolutely WINNING life with this comment
It's much more powerful getting to see the community and the love rather than just the music. Now all I have to do is learn Icelandic
Sigur Rós is an art movement. This is absolutely wonderful.
borinnnng.........
The version of Von in this gives me chills every single time I watch/ hear it. One of the most underrated Sigur Ros songs.
Von is a signature Sigur Ros masterpiece. it feels like the calm after an Icelandic storm.
Felt like I was touring with them across Iceland while listening to this. Beautiful country and beautiful music.
RUclips history, right here. What a beautiful experience from so long ago.
They are the best thing to ever happen in this world. The joy, the sadness the suicidal thoughts, all come along and let you to enjoy the every moment of life. Blessed.
UNIQUE MAGICAL SOUND of MYSTICAL ICELAND💫💥💖
Thank you for that, love Heima for all my life. Great job!
Glad to hear that. You took the time just to let me know.
Means alot.
Thank You! ☺
It brings back memories now. Everytime I listen to this album it transmits me to another universe.
maestros Sigur Rós muchas gracias , saludos desde chile
Thanks for the inspiration and music! I've been listening for 20 years
Wow
This music is a gut punch and to hear it in a Norid country out in the countryside would be overwhelming and cause an emotional breakdown. Too much beauty to handle.
Heima....A film masterclass.... Simply the best..... outstanding...
To me, this is Sigur Ros at their peak. Wonderful music, stunning video. I saw them in Glasgow a few years back after Kjartan had left and was really disappointed. I felt it was an assault on my senses, losing the delicate, beautiful, tuneful melodies of earlier years. This video is a masterpiece. Thank you very much.
You are very welcome! I'm genuinely happy to hear that my version of this hits home with you.
And you are right. This is peak era Sigur Ros. 🙂 For a while there they could do no wrong.
Thank you. Again. Watching from Brazil 🎉
You are welcome. Again. 😊 Hope you like this new version.
Sigur Ros was my teenage escape from any harms.
thank you.
takk
terima kasih.
1:10 HOPPIPOLLA !!!! 😜
one of my all time favorite! i cry everytime💓
Great editing job, even greater music.
Thank you for sharing this.
Thank You for that! I'm currently struggling with a similar project. And it't HARD... So it's nice to be reminded that I'm kind of good at this. 😊 Althouhg I'm not feeling it right now...
@@spiderbite76 Hang in there, you are very good at this. Can't wait to see your new project!
I remember seeing this at the Shetland Film Festival in 2009. It was a free late night showing. Absolutely amazing!
You will never believe where I discovered Sigur Ross. A hard rock drummer listed Sigur Ros and one of the bands playing on CD in his car. I thought ok I’ll give it a listen and started looking up and listening to each band to see if I liked their music. I fell in love with Sigur Ros music. It’s ethereal and beautiful and sometimes strange but I was hooked. BTW, the hard rock drummer was Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. Tommy is a lot like me in musical terms. Meaning, I listen to a little bit of music in every genre and decade. I listen to every thing from classical and Christian all the way to shock rock. Anyway, I’m glad I discovered Sigur Ros they are truly amazing!!!!!
One of the best live shows I've ever seen
I was so lucky to see them in Wolverhampton when I believe they had never played in the uk before or never played a closed venue…. I’m not sure ? Either way
The whole night was like an out of body experience
I love so much the Olsen Olsen version in Heima.
At 37:20, each time at this moment and for the rest of the song, it's goosebump!
Yes,. Nice to see Kjartan crack a smile when Jonsi brings the noice. Just can't keep his stone face...
First musical DVD I ever purchased, back in the day. Good memories.
Que recuerdos!!, es una obra maestra
Just stunning. Can watch this over and over. And seeing them live one gets an incredible feeling of elation from merging with the sound and energy. So special
You guys describe life that gushes through nature in such harmonious slow and fast rhythms. Bravo team, I'm very admiring. I don't have the words hhhhh
I watched HEIMA in 2011. Fell in love. Been wishing to go to Iceland ever since. One day...
Me and my dog both have anxiety and trouble sleeping and right now we're both super relaxed watching the sun come up and listening to this🧡 hes asleep and im still drunk from last nights party.
I listen too at times of anxiety, always helps me
What an incredible job you did! Love this version! Thank you
Thank you for saying so! Very good to know I did something you love. ☺ Not everyone appreciates the amount of work put into this kind of thing. So, thanks for that! 😊
Thank you so much for this!
You're welcome! ☺
So great. Thanks for sharing 😪
This is awesomeness at it's greatest, cheers from Australia 🌏
That is just about exactly how it is.
Cheers mate! 🙂
Just beyond words 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🫵🏼😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
One day, I'll be able to go to Iceland. With my wife, my kids.
One day, Bismillah, InshaAllah.
Coming from Yorkshire mining stock, the feels at 15.50 have impacted me hard ever since this first came out on RUclips. I bought the DVD and live CD as soon as it came out. I just saw it was due for rerelease on Blu-Ray a couple of years ago. Will have to look into upgrading. Probably the best music film of the decade.
I also realised it's over 20 years since I saw this band live.... What a drag it is getting old.
I wish for everyone in this wonderful world a peaceful evening
Thank you so much!!
Thank You! You are very welcome!
this is great; thank you for putting it together
Thank You for saying so!
My pleasure! 😊 Nice to know it hit home with you.
Beautiful changing landscapes with inspiring music with a bewitching voice. Ohh.. a great band and accompanying music, too.
Bravo
Thank you for this ... I loved the interviews, too ..but this is so much better.
That put a smile on my face...
The interviews sure are very nice, but not timeless and awesome. Like the music is. Good thing they now can exist in parallel. :-)
I adore Heima, what a gift
Thank you for putting this together for us like you did! 😊😢 I fucking love them!, I discovered them over a decade ago in some of my darkest and trying times,.. and well I'm still here so again thanks for putting this together and it hurts my heart that there aren't more likes😢 but you F'ing rock!!!!!
Thank you for saying so. You're very welcome. 🙂 I've had a fair share of dark and trying times myself, so just maybe I get what you mean.
I don't worry one bit about likes and subs and such. The only thing that really matters is that people, like youself, see this and get something from it. Makes my day. So thank again for that! 🙂
Magnifique, merci !
Juste ❤❤❤
This is the Heaven
Thanx for all your work. Beautiful version, all music and landscapes.
Sigur Ros have inspired me to plan a trip to Iceland, I’m so excited but not sure exactly when I’ll be going
I did so, and each time I hear Gitarjam it takes me there, an incredible journey I encourage you to do. Enjoy
Pura magia, pura emozione... ti colpisce nel profondo!
Rick Grimes at the guitar! Love it. 🤠👍
Thanks! from Sardinia....
You're welcome!
I’ve enjoy listening to the arrangements in this production 🥰
In the beginning I had not the slightest interest about this group but I was curious why my younger daughters were so fixated about their music to go out their way to see them live in concerts … well I’m now hook👍 beautiful, my daughters have travel to Iceland as well,so will I ✈️
In 2001, Time Magazine rated Sigur Rós as one of the top 10 bands. I am so disappointed that it's taken me 22 years to listen to their music, because it is absolutely magical.
Sensitivity brought you to feel its autentithity. At your perfect time
Beautiful
Thank
YOU
:)
Como no amarlos? Aceleran mi corazón, me incorporan a todo. ❤❤❤
sangat menyejukkan dan mendamaikan. terima kasih sigur ros
This is a masterpiece of a re-work! So much love and careful consideration poured into this. I love your interpretation of Heima whereby we can just enjoy the experience. Track re-arrangements are perfect as they break up the memorization and allows me to revisit the experience in a different way! I love both the original and this re-cut. It's on repeat as I do my diamond painting! :) You have earned a sub and I am eternally appreciative for the gift you have given us. Thank you for taking time to do this and share it with the world Spiderbite.❣ Sigur Rós is just the absolute best!!!
Kind words.
You pretty much exactly pin-pointing the thing I've been aiming at when doing this.
So, thank you very much for sharing your experience! 🙏
Still watching it since it's fall again. Thank you for uploading the video =)
I am increasingly convinced that when extraterrestial beings arrive they will speak Hopelandic... it will not be words. It will be a set of familiar sounds and phrases buried deep-in our primative child memories... before the world invaded. They will not speak any recognizable language but WE will totally understand.
I bought this DVD a few years ago, and it was so magical then. Having lost it, I'm so grateful to find it again
STUPENDOUS 💙🤍🖤
LOVE FROM ITALY
Thanks for this wonderful music and video
Gracias. Thanks.❤ I LOVE your edit. Great work.😊
Wonderful.
The music works with the images as if it carries me through centuries and connects all people. It could also be some Vikings cavorting in the meadows :)
Juste sublime, merci... Thanks.
Thanks for this
L'Islande est vraiment magnifique
Fun fact: the director, Dean Debois co-created and directed the Disney Classic Lilo & Stitch
Yes... You're right. Well put. 🙂
I may climb in here & not come back.
Jónsi Thank You for being on this planet.❤️
Everyone & everything in this film perfect. So beautiful. Guðdómlegur. Fullkomnun. Takk fyrir.
This is the sound of sacred geometry.
Brilliant but I think I need to watch this in my Victorian Summer.
Too cold for this Northern Winter!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing it!
MOAR!
If you are Icelandic, preserve your heritage at all costs! Once lost, gone forever.
Thank you for this. I saw the original film at the Melkweg in Amsterdam in 2006 or 2007. I subsequently bought the CD, having loved the band since 2002. This version is great because there is more music, more pure landscape. What musicians they are! Such inventiveness, such joy, such sharing. don't believe they have been given the credit or praise they deserve, especially for the first two albums. I consider their work to be a form of classical music, and indeed better than most classical music of the last 100 years or so.
You're welcome, glad you like my version! 😊
Certainly now with Kjartan back in the fold things are very much leaning towards the classical. Just great, but to me the strenght of SR will always be the cross between that and pure post-rock. No one else can touch them there.
Thanx for sharing!
