Isolation Room - Headphone Surround Binaural mix #1 - for slow listening in the lockdown.
Jónsi & Alex Somers - ‘Riceboy Sleeps’ + 'All Animals’ live Recorded live at Sydney Opera House with Sydney International Orchestra & Choir
The 10th anniversary concert of the landmark ambient album from Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi and film composer Alex Somers, for the first time in a unique spatial audio mix, designed for headphone listening, and exclusive to the Isolation Room. Recorded at Vivid Festival’s world premiere, June 11, 2019.
Riceboy Sleeps at Sydney Opera House represents the first time the album was performed in its entirety with orchestra and choir, in a performance to mark the release’s tenth anniversary. Orchestral arrangements were by David Handler, and featured many non-traditional sound sources, including whirly tubes, bags of marbles and broken glass. An additional programme of material from Jónsi & Alex’s only other release, All Animals, was also performed with arrangements by London Contemporary Orchestra’s Robert Ames, who conducted the orchestra and choir.
    Programme (90 mins):
    All Animals:
    Chapter One
    Chapter Two
    Chapter Three
    Riceboy Sleeps:
    Happiness
    Atlas Song
    Indian Summer
    Stokkseyri
    Boy 1904
    All the Big Trees
    Daníell in the Sea

    Sleeping Giant
A response to the coronavirus crisis from longtime Sigur Rós co-manager John Best and sound designer David Sheppard, Isolation Room is a community space for artists around the world to share live or pre-recorded work from quarantine, all mixed in binaural audio for maximum listening experience. Isolation Room is an extension of John and David’s work together presenting surround installation work, as LOSS / GAIN, with the intention of presenting state-of-the-art high-end audio experiences to people locally, reducing the impact of artist and audience travel.

My partner sadly passed away 8 years ago, but he used to bring me to our bedroom, wrapped me in blankets, closed the curtains and put me in bed with this music/album on to calm me down after I've had suffered a panic attack or mental breakdown. He would cuddle up to me and gently rocked me from side to side to the music together until I calmed down and then a little longer. He knew exactly when I needed this and I really appreciated every time he did this and I miss it so. Listening to Riceboy Sleeps brings me back to those memories and It makes me feel so sad, but so thankful at the same time for having been able to love him and spend time with him and having had his love like this for this little time in my life. I loved him so much. So thank you, Jónsi & Alex. For being able to capture this and keeping that particularlar memory alive for me.

As always when I listen to Jonsi & Alex or Sigur Ros, I think that if Aurora borealis could emit some sounds it would look like one of their songs

The most important concert I have probably ever listened to, and it was from my couch. To be able to channel what they did through the screen is magic. They are of the highest level of soul healers.
