    I'd like to say thanks for this lesson, two months ago I started to learn piano. I've had good days but also a fair amount of self doubt, however right now I've realised I can play and sound musical.

    Such an awesome tutorial. So easy and well explained. Even a total beginner like myself can play it. I still need to improve my speed on a few chord changes such as the D/F# or the Bb but other than that I think I have nailed it. Thanks again, Nate

    Nate, this was the second video I watched when I discovered your channel two years ago. The first was "Wild World". I still dont know how I was lucky enough to stumble on your channel. I give thanks to the youtube algorithm gods. Regardless, it has been life changing for me. I believe that not only would I have not progressed as far as I have in my piano journey, but also may have given up had I not discovered your channel. I owe it all to you. Between your tutorials and courses I have learned things that I would not have thought possible for me. I look forward to all your new content eagerly. I decided to revisit this classic song again. Its one I never quite learned yet.

    Great version Nate. Also, good to see one of your early tutorials and see how much your teaching style has improved since then (especially rhythms etc).
    During the last line of the instrumental, I can hear in my head the rest of the band playing, but no one else can hear :)

      Scales are great for knowing what notes and chords definitely work together, but when you can break those rules in ways that still sound good, that's where the magic happens. Cheers!

    When I bought this keyboard a few months ago I bought a 76 key keyboard. I am regretting that decision now. Sometimes the tutorials are hard to see which keys because you are using an 88 key piano. Thus was just a cheap under $300 keyboard because I didn't know if I would stick with it. Now thanks to the inspiration from your tutorials I already want to upgrade

    • @PianowithNate
      @PianowithNate  2 года назад

      You know, I've been wondering if the 88 key view is too zoomed out since I hardly ever use the top and bottom octaves. I just made a poll on my channel to see if other people feel the keys are too small on the screen.
      Curious, when you say its hard to see what keys I'm playing, do you mean because they are simply small on the screen, or because it's tricky to go back and forth between 88 keys and map them to where they should be on the 76 keys?
      If you're not already, it might be helpful to think of everything relative to the center of the keyboard (middle C) rather than counting octaves from the top or bottom...the middle of any keyboard with be the same octave, whether its 88, 76, or 64 keys.
      I spent my first years learning piano on a cheap 64 key keyboard with tiny keys haha. You can get pretty far, but ultimately full sized weighted "digital piano" is the way to go. I may make a video in the future with keyboard recommendations.
      Anyway, thanks for pointing this out, I'll be interested to see what people say in my poll!

    • @johnedwardpiano
      @johnedwardpiano 2 года назад

      Actually. Now that I went back and reread my post and read yours, I realize that I worded that wrong. The view of your keyboard is perfect. Also, you do an excellent job in explaining everything in detail. Far more than other tutorials I have seen on RUclips. Once I took the time to realize how everything is relative to middle C as you explained, then I could see that it wasn't an issue at all. Once again thank you for taking the time to explain everything. Your videos have a wonderful format. I wouldn't change a thing. What I do is I write everything down as I progress through your videos, and replay them as necessary. What is really useful is when you explain the timing, and sing along. It really gives everyone the whole picture. If someone wrote down all the chords, but had no idea about the context of timing and how the lyrics related to the song then they would have a difficult time. You do an amazing job at providing a very thorough and complete package.

    he skips the entire chord sequence played after the "lift of" part. That really sucks, that is the greatest part of the song with beautiful mellotron chords.
