I agree that carpet was a really weird choice especially in contrast to the overall white & wooden vibe of the apartment. Regardless, congrats guys!
Patterned carpets are usually used in high traffic areas to hide wear/stains. But yea the colours are an interesting chocie.
That’s true! I didn’t even think about the dark colors helping to keep the hallway look cleaner over time. As someone who’s home has carpet I still think tile/concrete/wood floors would be easier to clean especially in a hallway space that will have a lot of traffic just for the longevity of the flooring

To me as a Scandinavian it's strange how North American homes always seems to have carpets... You never see carpets here anymore. It's has sort of a 90's vibe.

If you're comfortable talking about it I would love to see a break down of the buying process as a first time home owner. How much you put down, what you paid, unexpected costs etc. That would be super interesting and informative for anyone looking to buy :)
It would be great to see the sustainable features of the building that drew you in to buy it.
Why does a person looking to buy a house need to know how much they bought their house for and what they put down? lol Th amount will be different for everyone. If you are serious about buying a house, you need to talk to a mortgage lender and a realtor, even if you're just looking. You need to know what YOU need to do and what house are going for in YOUR area. If you're not serious, then just mind your business and don't be a nosy bitch? lol

That carpet was a super odd choice. Will date the building and will need to be steamed every year. Also, in the US that second bedroom as planned wouldn't be allowed to be listed as a bedroom in most places. It would have to be called a den or office because it wasn't planned with a secondary egress.
I'm pretty sure it's the same in Canada. The "junior second bedroom" is such an obnoxious developer term lol, it just is misleading since 1 bed + den condos should be selling for less than full 2 bedrooms

Hilarious comment about the carpet. I've worked with interior designers and was married to one. I used to even do the colour boards. Your new home looks great! Thinking of downsizing in a year or two. Will be looking for something similar.

Pro tip! For towel racks and hand towel hooks try to find studs to hang them off of. Drywall is easy to install in upfront but does not last long.
If you do install drywall anchors (which you'll probably have to especially because towel racks are usually 20"and won't lineup with 16"studs) buy seperate anchors. The ones that come in the package with the holder and rack suck. Get something that grabs onto the back of the drywall.

Love all the drawers in the kitchen! When I had my kitchen remodeled, I picked all drawers, except for my under-the-sink recycling and a 9" lower cabinet for sheet pans, etc.

Congratulations on landing your mortgage and moving in! I love the way your amazing couch looks in that space. I love the different layouts in the building and it's great to hear that they worked so much with original purchasers on customizing! When we purchased (by assignment, later), Anne showed us a carpet swatch - we actually feel like it brings a lot of life and colour into the halls and like it, but it's definitely a sort of "divisive" choice, my husband and I think. I hope being in a settle place brings a little peace and comfort into your lives!
